A1: I try to make sure the activities we do differ. We may be drawing one day, writing another, designing a website/blog/music video the next! The goal is to engage students at different levels all the time! #fearlessedchat
A1: Treat it for what it is...it's a new day. Yesterday is over. It's history. It's in the past. Done. Gotta move forward and make a whole new set of choices. #fearlessedchat
A1: We are doing a screencastify project right now where students are taking the vocabulary from this unit and writing their own analogies to a theme to show their understanding. Applying the content to real life situations. Then they'll present through screencast #Fearlessedchat
A1: Constantly change lessons up- I like set routines, but not doing the same thing all the time. Try to hit multiple learning styles on a consistent basis to "hook" a student. #fearlessedchat
I need to write a blog post about how I am incorporating them. I'm seriously in love with screencastify (it's an extension in Google Chrome- very easy to use after you get the hang of it.) #fearlessedchat
A2: While I don't deny students from talking about all the fun some of them have for breaks, I try to make here and now fun for all my students! Our school is also doing a giving tree, getting gifts for an anonymous student has been very special. :) #fearlessedchat
A2: my heart goes out to them. I feel so bad for being excited about Christmas Break because I know what that means for them. My thing is to just love them while I can and make them feel loved. I always give all of my Ss a little something the day before break #fearlessedchat
A2: Struggling with this after a rough day w/ a kid. All he wants is to be in school, in class - but he's often in the office. I wish I could take him home for those two weeks. #fearlessedchat
A1. I try to do different things w/ the Ss that they may not always get to do at home (cooking exp.) because of their age and relate it to STEM. #fearlessedchat
A2: Find ways to be available during break. Find ways to keep in touch. Create activities centered around reading, maybe a novel, so you can discuss during or after break? #fearlessedchat
A2 Bond with each class before break. Load up on memories. Have Ss create. Send them on break with videos, comments etc. Help them get through it #fearlessedchat
What ways do you make yourself available during break? I love the novel idea! My students keep recommending I watch "Stranger Things" so I'm planning to finish the first season over break (4 episodes in right now and loving it!) #fearlessedchat
A3: Happens allllll the time in science, esp. w/ labs. I just dust off and try again, same goes for the kids. Laugh at myself, talk about why it went wrong, move on. #fearlessedchat
A3: Pause. Breath. Laugh. and pretend it is on the lesson plan! Being able to quickly adapt helps a lesson off track become a lesson of success! #fearlessedchat
A2. We do giving projects in our class. The Ss can give them out to whomover they wish for kindness. We try on our last STEM meeting to make something they can take home and utilize over break and have some fun. #fearlessedchat
A3: Deep breaths. It will be OK. Laugh loudly to take the edge off. Give a couple Ric Flair WOOOOOOOs and move on. It's all good. We will survive. Others have it much worse. #fearlessedchat
A3: Accept it. Model the flexibility and learning from failure for your Ss. Don't hide from it. If possible ask them what would have helped. #fearlessedchat
A3: Admit I made a mistake so Ss can see that teachers are human! Ask them for feedback, and I am always able to whip something up to bounce back. #fearlessedchat
A3. In science, it happens. We improvise and then we problem solve to figure out what went wrong! Repeat it again, and correct the error! #fearlessedchat
Sharing this with my wife! She is a 1st grade teacher. Sends postcards before the year, and an addressed/stamped envelope to mail her over the summer at school! #fearlessedchat
A4: Little of both. Spend time with my husband and my little guy. Celebrate my nephew's 2nd birthday, Christmas w/ our families. But also do some writing and lesson planning. Take it easy, overall. #fearlessedchat
A4: I'm hoping to not have to catch up so I can actually fully recharge for once. I'm working extra hard this next week to make that happen! #fearlessedchat
A4: Visiting family in Philadelphia, then Cumberland, Maryland (recharging and exhausting because of travel), hopefully reading, (is it okay to say maybe play a video game too?). Lots of rest! #fearlessedchat
A4: Hangout with my children...who I wave at daily when I am hustling point to point to love other people's children. Need to be a better dad over break. #fearlessedchat
A4: RECHARGE but I know I will be looking forward to looking at things that I haven't gotten a chance to. My grading will be caught up before Christmas Break. #fearlessedchat
A5: I love so many Christmas movies....Elf, The Polar Express, The Grinch (old and new!).....I also have no shame in admitting that I love a good Hallmark Christmas movie! #fearlessedchat
THANK YOU SO MUCH #FearlessEdChat family for an amazing 2017. I truly do not know what I would do without you all! You keep me accountable, sane, and are an all around amazing bunch of educators! May your 2018 and end of 2017 be blessed and merry!
