    When I talk about using hip-hop in math, I often get the question of whether or not I rap, and I explain that I am utilizing hip-hop culture beyond just rapping for students. #HipHopEd

    Think the “us teaching content thing” is a wash. Content is everywhere. We have to teach our students ways of thinking inside, outside, above, beneath and around ‘the box’ and pathways to activate revolution, organization streams and activism. #HipHopEd

    I find that I communicate with young people more effectively than I communicate w/ my colleagues. I think it important to do both, to educate students but also to educate others on the work we do and why it is critical that we consider changing our classroom paradigm #HipHopEd

    When I was in a classroom and still now with my teachers, we use text, narratives, research (scholarship) music etc to spark and trigger critical, literal and figurative thinking. Analysis is key. Synthesis is major. #HipHopEd
