A3: An attitude of gratitude helps a teacher by lifting their thinking to being positive. Being in that positive place shows up in their interactions with their students, their colleagues, and with others.

“Two kinds of gratitude: The sudden kind we feel for what we take; and the larger kind we feel for what we give.” -Edwin Arlington Robinson #whatisschool@ShiftParadigm
#whatisschool A3 to be a successful Tr you need trust and respect from Ss. Ss respect those who notice & connect with them. Which makes you grateful it is a never ending circle.
A3 we need to show how being thankful, acknowledging the work of others, being positive, will benefit everyone, it becomes contagious hopefully, keep perspective and reminds us to be a source of hopefulness #whatisschool
A3: tactics- I love doing @responsiveclass morning meeting shares. Ss can share what they are grateful for, and it’s usually other Ss family, & Ts. #WhatIsSchool
A4 One thing that gets in the way of an “attitude of gratitude” is institutional inequity. I can’t be grateful for the opportunities at school when not all students have access to them. #WhatIsSchool

A4: that you have a creative profession - we might be mandated WHAT to teach but there's creativity in HOW we teach it and HOW responsive we can be. #whatisschool

A4 work life balance, it's fun going to work but there are times when we need a break from everything and we need to breathe and remove ourselves to find time for ourselves #whatisschool
A4 systemic changes need to occur ... just expecting a positive attitude and creating a positive culture will change education is a bit naive ... we need to understand what is causing stress/negativity and fix it #whatisschool
A4 Being present. Breathing especially if you feel overwhelmed, overburdened and uncertain about making a positive impact on your studies.Teaching is not easy! #whatisschool
@MrsGHussey@teacherforest A4 I agree, I think it is important to make time for yourself and decompress. I often get worried with getting everything in for the end of the year and forget to take time to relax. #whatisschool
I had the pleasure of sharing @Flipboard with 4 of my colleagues today. It was wonderful to see them discover a new tool for the first time. #whatisschool

Good deal. Funny story. I accidentally cut my right index finger right before the chat. My responses are a little slower than usual because I had to double bandaid it because of where I cut it. It's why I'm so behind in my tweets:) #whatisschool
A5: For me, two things are needed to stay in an attitude of gratitude:
1. Share gratitude thoughts with people when I have those thoughts, and
2. Keep stress low because stress weakens a grateful heart and mind.
#WhatIsSchool
I have learned so much from @Self_Reg - and from @StuartShanker - on how stress affects the brain/body and what that looks like in students. I still have so much to learn but there are a ton of great resources there #whatisschool
In reply to
@DennisDill, @Self_Reg, @StuartShanker

A5)I love helping out kindergarteners, love to just spend time w/them, talking to them, laughing, being silly, they bring me so much joy #innocence#whatisschool
A5- Fresh air. Exercise. Sleep. If any of those are lacking, it becomes much harder to stay positive. Same goes for my students so if they're off- I have to be on! #whatisschool
One of my first graders brought in $10 for our service project today. It felt like $10,000,000 in the crazy context of Spring. He gave me happy tears:) #whatisschool
#whatisschool

A5. Try to counteract the negative with the positive. When I got really sick I didn't think 'Why me?" I turned it around to "Why not me?" This awesome attitude shift/advice came from an ex-student I taught as a 7 year-old. We sadly lost her at 18 to meningitis. #whatisschool
A5 Turn negatives into positives if negative comments come your way. Turn student needs into positives: “Please attend as the group needs you.” Gratitude and positivity are related.#whatisschool
Have to run. But always grateful for opportunitiesto chat with #whatisschool Kids who have teachers who take their time to reach out and learn whether f2f or here will also know gratitude.

#whatisschool A1 - At this point in the year, getting out of bed and staying positive is tough. But I am so grateful for my wonderful friends and colleagues who give me laughter and joy amidst this crazy teacher life #PLN#LoveMySchoolDay
