Q1: What does diversity mean to you?
-
-
-
Hi! Amanda from SC. I'm looking forward to much needed rest after a busy month!
-
heterogeneous perspectives and experiences.
-
diversity means recognizing the colors of our country and understanding that everyone is different. .
-
Brantley from SC! Looking forward to sleeping in for sure.
-
A1: True diversity is when organizational systems R dynamic enough 2 embrace multiple viewpoints while focusing on a common goal.
-
Change comes when we amplify the student experience
-
being different and accepting that everyone else is too.
-
A1: to me, diversity means accepting and recognizing all voices -- no matter what.
-
This means being inclusive towards different groups of people in a way that showcases differences in a positive light.
-
-
-
-
Q2: What, in your experience has been the most and least diverse spaces in education?
-
we all learn and think differently and that's what makes humanity so interesting and profound. .
-
Diversity means embracing and accepting each others' differences rather than letting those differences separate us.
-
-
the most diverse space was my middle school when each S by definition learned differently. In 3rd g S learned the same except me.
-
-
Q3: Does your school's curriculum reflect your population?
-
in lower school. Everyone at my school was super talented , I couldn't read. I had to find a more diverse place.
-
How did you go about making that happen??
-
A3 Great Question - I believe we need to make every effort to ask our students if they feel it does
-
not enough, there is not enough room for people to find their individual passion.
-
Q4: If you were to design a welcoming classroom, what would it look and feel like?
-
there's so much diversity in the way student's learn at the high school level.
-
I had to transfer schools. Where I learned to celebrate my diversity. .
-
no, there are very little opportunities for students to learn what they're passionate about.
-
In that we live in a rural/low income area, resulting in more occupational based classes than arts related, yes.
-
the room would be a place where you see students doing what they love but having their boundaries pushed. .
-
But not in the sense of reflecting student's individual interests.
-
Has your school taken any actions to make a change?
-
Q5: What do you feel is the white persons role in advocating for diversity?
-
A4 It would feel safe, where all views are welcome to be shared - look like a place that an introvert or extrovert could flourish
-
courses are added to fit more student needs but it's never enough to accommodate to the majority of the population
-
most of the courses hold very little interest from students and are taken as filler classes.
-
-
It would be a safe place for all students to explore their passions and be accepted.
-
that was the question I addressed in my college essay. I think it is using the tools we have been givin to enable other to succeed
-
A4: It would feel safe& embrace all cultures and learning styles
-
-
Thats a wrap on tonight's chat on !
-
Hi guys I'm Alissa looking forward to relaxing on spring break
-
A1: diversity to me is embracing every1 no matter size, color, race, or religion. Mixture is key
-
Here is a bonus question in honor of our event today @ ! Q6: What is the difference between diversity and decolonization?
-
TY crew for another great chat-hoping to get some folks from to visit 8:30 to 9:00 Mon
-
this is such an important question. I think another thing is promoting absence of brotherhood and unity. .
-
diversity is realizing that we are all the same. Decolonization takes polarities into account. .
