Inspired by the brilliantly successful, powerful learning and collaboration opportunity that is the weekly #edchat, #elemchat was created to provide elementary (or primary) school educators with a venue for discussing issues and strategies that are specific to teaching in their context.
Elementary school teachers! #elemchat has anyone done a #passionproject with their students? I teach 3rd grade and I'm looking for engaging projects that appeal to everyone.
I haven't personally done a Passion Project with my students, but here is a great article. #elemchat Bring JOY to the Classroom with Passion Projects https://t.co/9mx4Iw8Mz3
It sounds like a great concept allowing students to think outside the box and create. I will have to look into using it with my 5th graders this year. #elemchat
@lindseyMccubbin, how often do you have Genius Hour in your classroom? I feel as though I'd only have an hour or 2 once a week to work on it. #elemchat
We just got done doing a project where the students had to create a structure with straws which would hold a text book 1 inch off the table. They had so much fun. #STEM#elemchat
I am interested in what a #passionproject is. Is it self-explanatory? A project based on student's individual passions that can help improve their community? #elemchat
Thank you for sharing this resource! I am excited to read and learn more about it! I am a #edtech teacher, but may be able to share with other educators I work with. #elemchat
Those are great grades, and the kids are so creative. They would love doing a passion project or genius hour activity.

Last year with my 3rd graders I showed videos of #hurricaneharvey and we read about it then I allowed the students to determine how they wanted to help students in that area. I think using one common problem to solve and they choose how to solve it may be a good intro? #elemchat
