-
-
Q0 Julia English T from . Fictional leader? Principal from my last district. Ouch!!!
-
Q1: What stands out among leadership styles you tend to favor (either in yourself or in others)?
-
I'd love to hear how that is a fictional thing (:
-
I LOVE that book. Read it years ago.
-
-
-
-
A1: Leaders that lead by example stand out to me. Also, leaders that are passionate but compassionate. Fine line.
-
-
A1 Leadership is built on trust. I think transparency helps lead to trust.
-
A0: "El fin de toda educaciĆ³n, seguramente, debe ser, servicio a otros" - C. Chavez- my hero my leadership model
-
I agree!!! I also want someone that will push me to be better.
-
A1: great leaders connect w/ others on a human level
-
A1: Trust. Openness. Honesty. Autonomy. Lack of favoritism. Humor.
-
-
A1 I'm a servant leader, meaning I jump in, get dirty, and do whatever is needed to be support. I respond to similar things
-
A0: Shane from , Asst. Director of Technology with
-
. Our leaders missing about leadership? Things that make you go hmmm... :o)
-
Sure that's a likely excuse, but y'all are forgiven.
-
Q1b: What is a big No-No for leaders that would cause you to join a mutiny?
-
-
A1: Compassionate and willing to hear out things and view the options that are available. Vision!
-
A1: I'm struggling with this answer. I have had many leaders that I greatly respected that were totally different. Thinking....
-
excused for a very good reason.
-
Where do you feel your talents might lend themself to what aligns with your goals?
-
It's hard getting a foot In any doors so until I figure it out I keep siphoning info from other gr8 leaders :)
-
A1: Courage and conviction to continue doing what they think is right.
-
A1b Not listening or supporting those they are supposed to lead, support, nourish and become better
-
A1b: This is hard to describe. Maybe Disrespect and Micro managing
-
A1b: Sticking to the status quo even when it flies in the face of common sense
-
A1b: Hearing our private conversation come out of someone else's mouth. Or when they opt to do something bad for kids.
-
A1: good leaders facilitate/empower a team
-
I also measure the quality of a leader by how they impact others, we get better together, and a great leader promotes this
-
A1b: I don't know about mutiny but I don't respect leaders who think they know everything. You don't know what you don't know.
-
I think my talent is helping others find motivation and confidence in themselves & being creative & mindful
-
What's included in this idea of vision that is most important?
-
-
A1B: Doing things last minute and not planning. I also H8 people that just bark at you and don't talk to you like a colleague.
-
-
YASSSSSS!!! "That's the way we've always done it." WRONG ANSWER!!
-
Nice, those are amazing talents, so given that, where do you think you might have the biggest impact to match your gls
-
Q2: What leadership roles do teachers embody?
-
I love helping empower others & believe we all have to help each other 2 make any difference with ourselves & Ss
-
arriving late. Not good leadership skills tonight
-
How huge is that! Stay the course if you know its right
-
Knowing your goals and taking the steps to accomplish them. Not just doing it day by day and hoping it works.
-
a great leader I once knew said that the more he knew the less he realized he knew; humility and lifelong learner
-
Wow powerful, how might that help guide your decision?
-
A1b: A lack of passion and conviction
-
I have been told that I need to start as an AP and love up- I don't mind at all but I really want to work with Ts
-
Ahh so having a shared vision to accomplish common goals through a process that we all work toward...pwrfl
-
So does one preclude the other?
-
Love that word Judy...Humility in a leader is VERY important
-
A2: hoping they listen, empower, embolden, encourage, set high expectations.
-
A2: Good Ts know what motivates their Ss and are able to adjust their approach to meet those needs
-
A2: Good teachers are compassionate, good listeners and have empathy toward Ss. To colleagues they are respectful and also listen.
-
If I can help new or old Ts be better then the # of Ss I help multiplies exponentially!
-
A2:Teachers mostly show leadership through example. They respect Ss through their preparation, content knowledge, concern 4 success
-
You said what I tried to in about 4 posts in less than 140, well done
-
-
Great role models lead by example, I agree with ya Tom
-
Absolutely! Sounds like you have a strong candidate to help you decide what path to consider
-
-
It's all about the role model
-
Q2b: Agree or Disagree: teacher leaders should be elected by the staff.
-
a2: I think teachers often forget they are leading: students, teachers, others
-
So important, talk is cheap, action requires so much more...my wife taught me that (:
-
Hard freshmen class this year. Don't advocate for themselves. Hard to know what they need.
-
-
A2 cont: Teachers also show courage. The willingness to speak truth to power and the willingness to go against conventional wisdom
-
I couldn't agree any more buddy. I have encountered this many times in various aspects of my life.
-
A2b If I'm honest, there are leaders we have to listen to and leaders we choose to listen to, elected leaders aren't always both
-
-
It is the eternal struggle
-
A2b Double edged Q. Too many petty Ts stuck in past and too many admins not in classroom. Yikes!!! Maybe Ss should decide!!
-
Ab2 I think it would depend on how much the staff knows. There r so many things going on behind the scenes sometimes
-
Exactly, and she is the leader in this house..just don't tell her I said so (;
-
A2B: I think T leaders need to be more vocal so that their great ideas get heard from everyone.
-
a2b: yes and no. They should be, but not being elected doesn't preclude you from leading. Ldrs elected are easier to follow imo
-
A2b: I'd have to say it depends on who's running. Many a staff are still clicky. Popular Ts aren't always the best leaders.
-
-
A2b: Institutional teacher leaders already are: Dept. Chairs, Site Reps, Asso. Execs.
-
I am skeptical of the mob mentality and politicizing the election of T leaders. So I agree with ya
-
Seriously? She knows, man. She knows.
-
A2b They don't need to be elected. Teacher leaders rise.
-
-
Q2b: Agree, but only if admin have created and fostered the proper culture.
-
A2b: Elected-No, maybe an unspoken election. I can always tell by observing who the true leaders R. This makes good & bad leaders
-
A2- good Ts listen , r willing to take risks and show Ss it is ok to make mistakes if they turn the mistake n2 a learning moment
-
A2b I've seen the dregs rise to the top and the best fall & vice versa regardless of how you pick them sadly it seems a crap shoot
-
Vocal Ts attract haters. Just ask PHS about Peacock.
-
-
Ill have to share a song in Spanish that talks about husband and wives next time I see ya.
-
LOL, well my wife is mexican...might make sense
-
unless your site doesn't get a vote!! Or doesn't bother.
-
Your cracking me up Jeremiah, LOL!

A3: It's easy to say coaching or visionary, but they all serve a purpose. Time and Place
-
a3: I can think of situations in education where all of the images are needed
-
A3:I lean towards Visionary and Coaching with some Pacesetting. When I did research the dept was world famous, so It was high pace
-
Yeah, what said https://t.co/6eK0immgiT
-
-
A3: It's easy to say coaching or visionary, but they all serve a purpose. Time and Place
-
A3: I might be biased here but I like the leader that coaches who has vision. Yep, I just mixed the two.
-
A3: I think there is a balance of many of these styles, leadership, like T, is about right tool to motivate and inspire folks
-
A3: All have their place. Knowing when and with whom to employ is key. Only using 1 would not meet needs of all learners.
-
I do believe, effectual leaders know what style to tap into to get most out of those they serve
-
Yes, just like one type of instruction doesn't reach all learners https://t.co/EiKCsrndye
-
-
A3: All have their place. Knowing when and with whom to employ is key. Only using 1 would not meet needs of all learners.
-
A3: Democratic=collaborative, Affiliative=communication/relationship, Visionary=accomplish goals, Coaching=Service
-
Final thoughts on teacher leaders?
-
If I could ask, what type of leadr do you respond to most yourselves?
-
A3 I wish some leaders were more forceful and less warm fuzzy. Might weed out bad for Ss Ts.
-
Yeah I won't be coaching during an earthquake
-
FT is just too short, but it does have some of the most amazing, inspiring people I've had the pleasure to know Thnk You
