Interested in student-driven classrooms? Join Dr. Nancy Sulla @nsulla (author of Students Taking Charge, Its Not What You Teach But How, Building Executive Function: The Missing Link to Student Achievement, and more) and educators from all over in #LATICchat on Thursday nights at 8pm ET. We hope to bring together a community of educators to share insights, stories, examples, pictures from their classrooms, and more. We welcome all educators to join; no need to be running a #LATIC classroom.
A1) #tech in the classroom can provide students with multiple, varied opportunities to learn the same content. Also frees the teacher from the front of the room and allows for more #facilitation#LATICchat
A1: Technology is often described as the great equalizer. It offers access and the possibility for anyone to learn anything. There is no greater driver of learning than want and access! #LATICchat
Hi-Felicia from NJ! A1-Technology connects Ss to learning opportunities they may not normally have access to i.e virtual field trips, video chat with experts in a field. #LATICchat
A1 Technology can be used to access, process and manipulate info. S's can also use technology to change the way we look at, present or even work and share material and products they create. #LATICchat
@laciestern is implementing this in her 7th grade science classroom now, she does an excellent job of facilitating through activities and questioning to ensure students reach practitioner on standards #mschat#LATICchat

I love Brainpop and youtube. They are my go-to sites for alternative instruction so I can be available for students. We want to start experimenting with making our own videos though! Suggestions? #laticchat
I like having my S's seek alternate POV on issues we are covering. Such as the USSR and Cuban POV on the Cuban Missile Crisis and Bay of Pigs in the Cold War ALU #LATICchat
A2) Anything and everything "screencast" are powerful teacher replication tools. I discussed this with a chemistry teacher in @BriarcliffManor today. The ability for students to learn at various paces is powerful for differentiation. #LATICchat
A3) Take the headphones off (or use splitters) and provide a protocol for collaboration based on what type #tech activity students are completing. #LATICchat
Sharing is caring! It's important that technology isn't used as just an independent activity - it can be leveraged to increase collaboration as well. #LATICchat
A3 We use Google classroom and docs for collaboration. This gives students the opportunity to discuss and write together through technology. #LATICchat
A3 I build in things like partnering, sharing, peer review, peer edit and small group presentations to balance potential isolation due to tech and encourage collaboration and communication. #LATICchat
A4) Any video conference software allows for accessibility. Also, any collaboration software where multiple people can share and discuss. There are many, many options! #LATICchat
A4 Technology is excellent for including and bringing experts into your classroom and allowing S's to access authentic audiences for their conclusions, designs and products. #LATICchat
A4) I visited a local hydroponic farm recently to learn more myself. They are willing to FaceTime with my Garden Club students when we have questions! #laticchat
A4 A small group of students and I are currently working through the design process to build a website to share our compassion projects with the outside world. #LATICchat
A4-I love live stream cameras. I have been using them with my daughter to on a rainy or snowy weekend so she can travel somewhere without leaving the house! #LATICchat

A-CQ - Allie and I want to try to use some of the dictation software provided by Microsoft for our Ss who struggle with written expression. They have more to say than they can write independently #laticchat
Fabulous chat, #LATICchat Friends! We are going to keep the #EdTech theme going next week as we discuss #ExecutiveFunction and #TechnologyInfusion as Power Partners! Thanks for joining in and let's keep it going. You all rock!
CA I am trying to use Ggl Forms to allow S's access to Documents and scaffold Q's to improve understanding and alignment with Enduring Issues in Soc. Std. #LATICchat

Timely feedback is crucial. When I started using some teacher cloning tools (like making screencasts for math) this allowed me to sit and facilitate with students to provide in the moment feedback and instruction. You don't get that availability whole group. #mschat#LATICchat
Self-assessment is powerful and it's a great conversation to have with students. How does their self-assessment aligned with the expectations placed in the rubric and with what I am seeing? #mschat#LATICchat
