The #INeLearn hashtag is used for both asynchronous sharing and synchronous conversations. Include #INeLearn in your tweets if you want to share resources or questions with Indiana educators and school leaders. Asynchronously, the #INeLearn hashtag provides educators across the state of Indiana a central space for sharing. On Thursday evenings beginning at 8 CST/9 EST when you use the #INeLearn hashtag, you are joining a live conversation--the #INeLearn Twitter Chat. For one hour, we interact in real time having a virtual discussion.

Greetings #INeLearn. Tweeting in from Indianapolis, former science T & librarian, now work for @IMLEAorg I got to meet @MrKnight_SHS at the Focus Forum in Fishers.
R1: It has torn down walls, opened possibilities and opportunities, and helped me broaden my perspective as I have grown my PLN across the state and beyond. #INeLearn
R1 I will speak as a teacher-leader, but the digital revolution actually allowed me to utilize my passion and skills to exercise leadership within my building and district. #INeLearn
R1: I’ve created online relationships with people all over the US and beyond. It has given me a network of people to bounce ideas off. I have taken ideas from them and adapted them to work for me. #INeLearn
We always speak about the benefits of what digital learning can do for our students, but it's also amazing to recognize how it has transformed us as leaders and professionals, too. Everyone is a learner! #INeLearn
R1: It has torn down walls, opened possibilities and opportunities, and helped me broaden my perspective as I have grown my PLN across the state and beyond. #INeLearn
A1: it has allowed me to complete my masters degree in @IU_IST through @IUSchoolofEd online while being a brand new father, which led me to my current field of #instructionaldesign. So I owe a lot to the digital revolution! #INeLearn
R1: it also gives me an avenue to share the great things from my school for those who follow me and our stakeholders. We share our message instead of someone else taking the message and altering it. #INeLearn
So true! Before we started our tech initiative eight years ago, I struggled finding my place. I am truly thankful for the experiences and people I've met along my own journey. #INeLearn
R2: Trust and failure. Trust that we are all doing things that benefit the good of our students. Failure in that it might not work for us. We need to step back, reevaluate, and try again. #INeLearn
The digital realm has helped to flatten the world for us all. We are all contributors and all learners when we open up to true collaboration. #INeLearn
R2: AUTONOMY -- we must trust that people are giving their best and give them space to grow
COMMUNICATION -- people must know the vision and direction, voids in communication unfortunately get filled by negativity and opinion, rather than positivity and fact. #INeLearn
R1: the digital revolution inspired me to finally pursue my love of professional development and student use of technology. I completed my Masters in Dec 2013 and was blessed to get a job in my district just months later (when positions unexpectedly opened). #INeLearn#lcscedtech
R2: If you don't know an answer, at least have an idea where to start looking and what to ask; have a way to organize the tremendous amount of information to make it easier to find when you need it. #INeLearn
A2: Responsibility (such as how we interact with each other digitally, giving credit where credit is due, using @creativecommons, etc) and creativity (being able to explore and accomplish achievements using the tools at your reach). The digital age has opened doors! #INeLearn
R2 Mindset and Grit. You have to see the big picture (and support those who aren't able to just yet) and be willing to push through the set backs (negativity) to accomplish what is best for students. #INeLearn
R1: It has allowed me to grow in ways I never knew I could. Creating and maintaining one of the states first esports programs and sharing that knowledge with other schools has been incredible. Without the digital age it would never have happened. #INeLearn
As we journey further into the future, it becomes increasingly important that we ALL (students, teachers, admin, etc.) are mindful of awarding proper credit to creators. #INeLearn
A2: Responsibility (such as how we interact with each other digitally, giving credit where credit is due, using @creativecommons, etc) and creativity (being able to explore and accomplish achievements using the tools at your reach). The digital age has opened doors! #INeLearn
R2: perseverance and passion. Leading others to try new things when all the new things keep changing and multiplying requires these two things and so does successful digital age learning IMO #INeLearn#lcscedtech
I almost said organization! Good thoughts! As leaders, we can help others who aren't as intuitive with tech by organizing information in a way that's helpful. #INeLearn
A2: Respect of others abilities & comfort level w/tech is key to being a digital leader. If people can’t relate they won’t even start. & Bravery to fail so people see that it’s ok to try. #INeLearn#schk12
R3 (Mindset and Grit) Building a supportive PLN that also challenges me to think from all perspectives. Twitter, blogs (earlier years), conferences, books, etc. combined with my own experiences have allowed me to gain these skills. #INeLearn#workinprogress
R2: Critical Thinking and Responsibility.
We need to think about whether we are reading factual information in a time of easy information access. We need to be responsible in the information we share with others along with being responsible with the content we create.#INeLearn
Yes, we always have to start people where they are if we want to move them forward...every starting point is different. We must respect and honor that to help people overcome fears and move forward. #INeLearn
A2: Respect of others abilities & comfort level w/tech is key to being a digital leader. If people can’t relate they won’t even start. & Bravery to fail so people see that it’s ok to try. #INeLearn#schk12
R3: Trail and error -- I messed it up a lot more than I got it right when I first started my path in leadership. Constant reflection, constant feedback, constant mindset for improvement.
I have also learned a great deal along the way from people like you! #INeLearn
A3: good ? - this is something that I learned outside the digital realm but as I grew into more of digital education, I’ve learned more from my peers and students. In fact, this week I received some inspiration for creativity from @SethPonder’s podcast with @micheeaton#INelearn
A3: I feel that as a coach you have to work and hone these skills on a daily basis. Each group I worksite challenges me to be better at my job! #schk12#INeLearn
A3: (HS students) need to have a class dedicated toward innovation & open source learning.
While I love traditional classes, new opportunities can come in the form of a #GeniusHour or #Innovation class
#INeLearn
Repeated, consistent, focused effort over long periods of time is how anyone reaches a breakthrough. Most people just give up too soon because they are not willing to outlast the critics. #INeLearn
R3: I was raised by two fiercely passionate parents who led by example through their perseverance. Now, I am lucky to witness passion and perseverance in every teacher & student I work with and that fuels me to just keep going!! #INeLearn#lcscedtech
R2: Patience and Understanding. One downfall of the digital age is that it’s made us so impatient and demanding. We want it all NOW! Also- often times we try and fail. Understanding that we all make mistakes and allowing others the grace to correct them is important! #INelearn
R4 Patience. Scaffolding. Allowing them opportunities to immerse themselves into what digital opportunities CAN be. I think sometimes they just don't know what's even out there. #INeLearn
Keep offering opportunities, for both students & teachers to grow their digital toolbox. Never stop pushing for the best for both groups to be continual learners. #schk12#INeLearn
R4: support individuals willing to take risks. So many times, people won’t take a risk because they believe if they fail it will cast a negative shadow on them. Be a risk taker and support those risks knowing that Ss will be the beneficiaries of the success. #INeLearn
EVERY. MONTH.
$500 for either:
a. local non-profit where teams of HS students help solve problem
or
b. mini-pitch competitions to foster HS entrepreneurs.
#INeLearn
Yes! Sometimes the word technology is enough to scare people off. Especially if it is something that might take them out of their comfort zone. #INeLearn#schk12
That why we give a Penguin Award to staff who take big risks even if they fail. Recognize the behavior you want repeated! If you only recognize those who get it right, people will play it safe to ensure they are right every time. Someone has to go first! #INeLearn

I asked my evaluators to look for areas that I can improve upon. If they don’t give me something to fix, they aren’t helping me or my students. #INeLearn
R3: SELF AWARENESS. You’ve got to know where you stand with your strengths and weaknesses and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Utilize your colleagues and PLN for help when needed. #INelearn
Working w/ former student @realrobertjones on his personal brand & share his amazing journey.
He does a show "Gent Style" on how& why young men can dress professional, on a budget.

R5 My sixth science counterpart. Building lab journals using the Numbers app in the iWork Suite. So many incredible features to elevate Ss data analysis. #INeLearn
Very true! One of the most important things you do as a leader is deciding who you want to be and what you want to do. When you come face to face with a difficult situation, it is too late in that moment to decide what you believe in. #INeLearn
A5: I’m working w/ a 5th grade teacher & her students on building digital portfolios to document their work by website building. Practicing #digcit skills I n the process. #INeLearn#schk12
R5: @MrAshcraft is a great leader - I help remind him to focus on the task at hand and stay in his lane. It is about supporting not doing it for them. #INeLearn
Seymour is just 20 miles north of me. Huge agricultural area. I love that Ss invest in ideas that are important to them and have relevance to their community! Awesome! #INeLearn
R5: I’ve been working with members in my science department utilizing technology for presentation purposes that are more authentic than just a slide show or power point. We have been using @Flipgrid and @WeVideo with our students. #INeLearn
R4: I do-We do-You do slow release. I love showcasing what I can do FOR your students BUT also love getting others to try along with me so we can showcase THEM (Ss and Ts). The more we share, the more we try & the more we grow! #INeLearn#lcscedtech
A5: I do this as part of my job with all of my faculty. The biggest challenge I see them face is how to transfer their success in a F2F course in an online course while at the same time recognize that making a carbon copy of the F2F class is not the way. #INeLearn
R6: Must put thinking above content - teach them to attack problems with vigor and empathy. In the learning process, the HOW and WHY is much more important than the WHAT. #INeLearn
R4: I run in first and try to clear all of the questions up before bringing everyone in behind me. I can then support them better as I have fully immersed myself in the content and can become the "master" #INeLearn
Encourage them to be producers!
Have them document their journey!
HUGE if they understand their digital brand now.
EXTREMELY passionate about this.
#INeLearn
R6: I really believe that we need to teach our Ss how to use 4Cs utilizing technology for this process. It’s not about the tool, but the process. Tech is changing so quickly that identifying a tool that is awesome and becoming skilled at it means nothing. #INeLearn
R6: We need to give our students authentic experiences to stretch their digital wings. I feel like a broken record when I say it but: producers, not consumers! #INelearn
R6: How to look at the incoming information and weed out the good from the bad. We need to show them how to have media literacy in this "new digital age". From there they can blossom and grow quickly to become the future leaders they will be. #INeLearn
R6: Empathy is a vital skill -- this is where humans will still win over machines -- we cannot compete with processing time, but we will always be better at discerning what others are thinking and feeling and responding in the appropriate way. #INeLearn
R6 (again). Ss also need to learn to be problem solvers and independent thinkers. If someone is over their shoulder giving answers or the “right way to do it” all the time they’ll never squirm and get the uncomfortable feeling that comes right before the growth happens! #INelearn
R7: There are always problems, but someone, somewhere has probably found a solution to that big problem you are dealing with. How will you find that person? Being connected broadens the conversations and finds solutions that you did not know existed. #INeLearn
A7: you need to be part of the world you want to make a difference in. And being engaged in the digital world is just as important, effective, and relative as the non-digital one. #INelearn
R5: a few of my favorite colleagues are the ones who lead me to believe they “can’t do any of it”, but then somehow they’re calling me back because they tried the next “thing” and they’d like my opinion on it. We are working on the skill of TRYING💓 #INeLearn#lcscedtech
R7: if we don’t become digital leaders in our schools, who will? If we don’t provide our Ss with the skill set and ability to utilize digital tools, we are not preparing them for their future. We are being negligent if we aren’t digital leaders. #INeLearn
Working with a tech coach from another distruct on how to plan worh admin for elearning. Reflecting on tweaks to consider and that inevitably there will be areas for improvement and growth. #inelearn
Can we get a round of applause, please for a great first chat with @MrKnight_SHS? Thanks for our PLN for showing up strong tonight! #INeLearn#INDLmonth
