A1- our individual team members have gone through a lot since 7/31/18. Watching the way we have rallied around each other, supporting & filling in gaps & covering each other has been awe-inspiring! #TxEd

A3: I think in today’s classroom you have to incorporate technology. The students today love and breathe it. We are 1:1 with Chromebooks and I’m so excited to really utilize them. Google Classroom is my next goal. #TXed
Make it relatable to the kiddos! Connect it to real life and interests. Also, engagement, engagement, engagement! Encourage open conversation in the classroom, the students should be asking as many questions as the teacher! #TXed
A3- This is the main reason I love teaching the Little’s!! They really are seeing everything for the first time. As long as I make it fun, and seem like play, they love it!! #txed
A2-I am not in the “trenches” as much any more so I have to work harder at maintaining relationships. When I visit a class, I encourage them to email me one interesting fact, it has sparked great conversations. When I see them next time I ask them about their cool fact. #TXed

Q3: After the first few days, teachers start to dive in deeper into their lessons. How does a great teacher hook their students into the learning? #TXed
Make it relevant and personal. Use your students, their families, and yours into everyday learning. Show them you care and they’ll show you they care back. Make deposits into their lives, not just their learning each and everyday! #txed#WestAveEs

A3 one more. Learn their name! Loved this one yesterday “How does she know our names? It’s like she really knows us” ..... again I only see them a few times a week and not for long periods. #TXed
A4: I am utilizing @ClassDojo this year and I ❤️ it! The parents do too. I try to send photos at least once a day and it is a great way for parents to get a message to me quickly. I do still love a good call home too though. #TXed
A3: technology, interactions, movement. So many great ways to get the Ss involved in their learning. Above all make it relatable. Why am I teaching you about so and so?? Not only because I have to but look at it this way.....#TXed
Q3: After the first few days, teachers start to dive in deeper into their lessons. How does a great teacher hook their students into the learning? #TXed
#txed A4 I email a personal message to ALL my Ss who make a 100 on a major test, end up with an A for the six weeks, or to kids who are showing random acts of kindness. JMO YOU SHOULD HAVE MORE POSITIVE CONTACTS THAN NEGATIVE ONES! PERIOD!
Q3: After the first few days, teachers start to dive in deeper into their lessons. How does a great teacher hook their students into the learning? #TXed
A4: I’m helping our school utilize Facebook Live more so we can drive people to our page and share all the amazing things going on there... even thinking of Zooming our Book Character Parade. #TXed
A4: I am a principal of an alternative campus and most of our students have never received an award. We are going to have each teacher nominate a student of the 9weeks. We then plan to give the awards in the evening and invite parents to attend. #TXed

I have a S I work w/who gets SO excited to call his parents every good day he has. I encourage Ts to let him make this call... every time
CALL HOME for positive as much OR MORE than negative
Dollarstore certificates LIGHT up a child’s face, pick a S &send one home each day! #TXed
At least not if you do an effective job, right? But as @LYSNation would say, “the surest way to know you’ll need to reteach a lesson is by not closing it. “ #txed#WestAveEs
A4- a goal of mine is to have a more regularly updated webpage. Many parents are directed to our team for resources & help. I want them to be able to get help in less than 3-4 clicks & w/o an email/phone call #TXed
A2: respect students. Respect their thoughts and feelings. Never never never give up on them, support them during failure and always celebrate the success! #txed
#BringItToMeFriday is a 30-45 minute time where administrators stay in library and receive students from all over the school who get celebrated from an academic achievement, to a PBIS characteristic, to growth, etc, etc. They get school cash, a sticker, a high five, hug... #txed
Just saying, had a parent tell me that my positive e-mail about their kid making over a 95 was the FIRST TEACHER CONTACT they have had in years. Good kids will go under the radar because they do what they are supposed to. LET THE PARENTS KNOW THEY ARE SUCCEEDING! #txed
I’m stealing a page from @monica_m_munoz and making positive calls home on a daily basis. Have you all checked out West Avenue Elementary School - NEISD on Facebook yet? #TXEd#WestAveEs
Q5: You really have to use any opportunity you get. We are known to have conversations while eating lunch. Utilizing the Google suite is helpful too. #TXed
A4: Pre. Ss - the 1st yr we struggled and he made bad decisions. 2nd year, I noticed a major improvement in his attitude & work ethic. I sent emails home to dad letting him know that I was extremely proud of the strides as had taken and how proud I was to teach him. #TXed

#A5: since we all have different lunches and conference periods this year, we tend to do our collabs in the morning before work, or after work. Had a great resource from WW2 that I sent to our World History and US History team after hours! We stay connected in so many ways #TXed
United we stand. Divided we fall. In order to reach higher highs it’s going to take better solutions. We learn more from a multiple person dialogue, than from an internal monologue. #txed#WestAveEs
In person is best, but being split between 4 campuses, this doesn’t always happen. I stay very open to all forms of communication. Email, phone, text. Because I may not always be “in the right place” I make sure to check and reply to email MANY times a day. #TXed
A5: We’re moving towards a collaborative planning time when we review lesson plan skeletons and really talk about strategies and objectives - “the how” - so we can have richer discussions and not just the title of lessons or big ideas. #TXed
A5: We recently started a BES Staff Chat @voxer group - it is irrentky small but mighty. We are also digging into PLCs this year after our @SolutionTree training! #txed
Q6: Teachers have a ton on their plate during the school year. How do you as a great teacher keep your sanity with deadlines and challenges all around? #TXed
A5- we have standing calendar appts, share via Google Drive, & a group text/chat that helps facilitate convo since we can go days w/o all being together #TXed
#txed A5 I like using Social media, Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, Google Hangouts. Try incorporating Common Planning Time for your staff, etc. Can alsop use faculty meetings in a collaborative manner liek Edcamp style #edchat
A5: there is time for what you make time for. Working in the same space during conference, all things google for digital collaboration, & constant communication(txt, email, insta). It helps if you function as each other’s support/hype man, then collaboration is never a chore. #txed
A6: The best teachers I know are organized, give grace, laugh at themselves, put in the time, do the work, and always put others, particularly their students, first. The rest works itself out. #txed
Q6: Teachers have a ton on their plate during the school year. How do you as a great teacher keep your sanity with deadlines and challenges all around? #TXed
A6: Having a useful planner/calendar, keeping meetings logged in Outlook, setting mtg goals, color-coding priority items all help me. And a healthy bed time 😴 lol #TXed
A6: work is work, home is home. Don’t bring your work life home with you or you have no time to recharge your batteries. Just like we tell mothers you can’t fill your children’s lives with love when your cup is empty, the same goes for teachers and their students. #TXed
Q6: Teachers have a ton on their plate during the school year. How do you as a great teacher keep your sanity with deadlines and challenges all around? #TXed
A6 Know your limits, take a breather as needed, and celebrate the good when there’s good! You may not do it all but you can do as much as you can! #TXed

A6: I keep a “to do list” use appointments on my calendar. I also make sure that I have a set time to leave every day & I stick to it. I try to stay ahead of my deadlines, but If I can’t finish @ work, I finish at home after I spend time w/ family. #txed
A6 Know your limits, take a breather as needed, and celebrate the good when there’s good! You may not do it all but you can do as much as you can! #TXed
But the job still has to get done, right? Some of my staff designate a day where they stay extra late to make sure they are ready and prepared. I think prioritizing and like @PrincipalOgg says being organized is huge! #txed#WestAveEs
I make sure I have my “me time”. I go to crossfit almost daily, I continue to practice my fav. sport, waterskiing, atleast once weekly, I go to football games, concerts, etc. w/ friends & family. I’ll take a personal day when needed. Remember, TEACHERS ARE HUMAN, too! 🙃 #TXed
Thank you #TXed friends for joining us tonight. Please keep you head up and know that you are making a difference each day.Stay positive and finish strong this week.
A6: use time wisely at school, google keep for lists and prioritizing tasks, build a positive/supportive PLN, and CHOOSING joy everyday. Focus on what you can control! #txed
Q6: Teachers have a ton on their plate during the school year. How do you as a great teacher keep your sanity with deadlines and challenges all around? #TXed
Here is the difference between Dan and me. Dan claims he will give teachers a raise but has NO plan to get it done because he is lying. In contrast, I have a plan to fund our schools and pay our teachers because I actually care. Dan just keeps on blowing smoke. #txlege#txed
Dan Patrick says his plan is to raise teacher pay by $10,000 on average. There are over 350,000 teachers. That’s over $3.5 billion. Better start telling Texans where you plan to get that money, Dan. Your credibility on this topic, like your poll numbers, is sinking like a rock.
Q6: Teachers have a ton on their plate during the school year. How do you as a great teacher keep your sanity with deadlines and challenges all around? #TXed
That being said... my planner is my best friend, along with my iPhone reminders. Collaboration is key. Asking for help is a life saver. AND... work smarter not harder! #TXed
Mental health days/ personal health days should be talked about more!! We all need them. We all should take them. Everyone benefits when we practice self care!! #txed
Hi GCISD! Join us tomorrow for our first Twitter chat of the year where we will discuss allllllll of our favorite things! Classroom things. Teaching things. Learning things. All the things! #gcisdchat
As an Assistant Principal, I have observed teachers take a lot off their plates by really improving their time management & organizational skills as well as developing more student-centered lessons and assesments such as PBL so they act more as a facilitator #txed A6 #edchat

@TXEDMod Q1: I am overjoyed with the amount of support I have from my team, admin and parents! It makes my day when I get positive feed back from them. My class has been engaged and are eager to learn more. #TXed@CFISDWells
@TXEDMod Q2: I like to find out something personal/special about each student and connect with them that way to build the foundation of our relationship. #TXed@CFISDWells
