The idea for @onedchat stemmed from a conversation between Allison Fuisz and Amy Bowker in the Spring of 2014. They noticed a gap on Twitter where an Ontario-based education chat was concerned. After several conversations and a vision in mind, @onedchat was created.

Demonstrating that many #globalgoals require improvement locally and making connections globally build the idea that we are all connected. When students and colleagues see they can make a difference and help our earth can be empowering. Innately people like doing good #ONedchat
The number of goals to teach the had been daunting. However, I noticed the kids have gravitated towards the goals that are easier for them to empathize with. Such as hunger and education. #ONedchat

A2 it builds skills that the education system doesn’t necessarily intend for & opens the door to career paths/passions that haven’t been explored before. The level of self-awareness that can be developed by empathizing and understanding our #GlobalGoals is infinite too #ONedchat
It would be great to start a database to help show educators how to integrate through the various curriculums. #onedchat I think some areas such as Language arts and geography the connections are easily made and to some respects science. But what about numeracy?
A1: It is time for us to stop caring so much about the end of grade scores and more about the impact our students are having in their world. #ONedchat#teachSDGS
They can find things they are passionate about based on connections and inevitably those passions will spark thinking into new areas. #TeachSDGs#ONedchat
#ONedchat A2 studies of #sdgs help students evolve from just classroom learners to life long learners...it pushes them to think out of the box and beyond classroom walls which is what the education is aimed at these days ...looking at change...coming from within first
Numeracy can definitely be integrated; it's a chapter in my book...the last chapter in my book is how to integrate it all...the first 8 chapters takes Ts through the steps in order for this kind of teaching and learning to be successful. #ONedchat#TeachSDGs
A2: I want students to see the power of their learning! Engagement is the end result of providing real world application of the skills you are teaching. Students should not have to wait until they are older to begin impacting their world! #ONedchat#TeachSDGs
A2 #GlobalGoals give us a common ground for taking about the issues that bind us together globally. It is important to allow students the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another's experiences of the goals are to be achieved.
