Q1: How do you identify the educational passions in your staff?

A1: Real, honest conversations. Get to the heart of WHY they are an educator.

A1: Get to know them for who they are, not what they teach. Talk about the why.

Vital that we engage our teachers in meaningful and authentic conversations.

A1- Talk to the teachers about why they chose the profession in the first place and what they desire to see in their Ss

Often the hallway talk is important in finding that connection to have that authenticity

Q2: How do you support staff members to ensure their passion is utilized and appreciated?

A2: All about empowerment. Find opportunities for the passion to be shared and grown.

A2- Give them the tools necessary to explore these passions, allow them opportunities to lead. If the cause is worthy support it.

A2: Opportunities to participate in choice school service committees/initiatives

A2: Eliminate obstacles that hinder expression of passion. Give them praise for the things they are doing

Q3: How do we ignite/build upon passions in our students?

A3 - Give students and opportunity to share their passions with others and truly listen. Provide student leadership opportunities.

A3: Build and maintain strong relationships with all students...teach students, not content

A3: Finding was for them to take leadership in things throughout school. Leaders come in all personalities.

A3: Build them in the same way we would with our staff. Offer opportunities such as 20% time projects

Absolutely. Do not give leadership to only those that are obvious choice. Students will rise to higher expectations

Q4: How can we ensure that passion is not lost in the processes of the school?

A4 - Carve/Calendar time out for those important opportunities so they don't get caught in the everyday processes. Keep learning fun

A4: Regularly celebrate successes, no matter how big or small...spend time allowing students to be kids
