#games4ed discussions cover ways in which gaming can be used in education. Games mirror the way the human mind was designed to learn. They motivate players to take risks and actions, persevere through failures, set and achieve increasingly difficult goals, and devote attention, time, and effort to acquiring knowledge and skills. All this while the game is tracking the player’s actions and assessing the player’s achievements and skills. Isn’t this what we want from education?
Happy I can make it. In order to bring food into tonights #games4ed chat (I know it's inevitable), tonight I'll be cooking/eating dinner while chatting 😜
A1 - I've enjoyed pushing vocabulary in the edtech products I've created. Our ability to communicate clearly with others increases along with our vocab size. #games4ed
Oh, so true. Had a convo recently about some tech stuff with 1 coworker and a 2nd coworker overhearing said it was like listening to a foreign language. #games4ed
A2 - when we need words for examples, I find it fun to use vocab potentially not used before - like "fig" for the letter F. Brings another level of conversation into the activity #games4ed

A3 - draw, sculpt, paint, act, form by having multiple students use their bodies to create the letters. Search for examples in the classroom... #games4ed
Aw, too bad. Don't have much experience with it myself, just heard about it. Loved creating comic strips as a kid (even if they were terrible). #games4ed

A6 - make it a game to arrive to class with a new word/definition for the day. Like show & tell. Even better - they act/draw it out and people have to guess what it is first. #games4ed
Thanks @mpilakow for another great #games4ed chat. Lots of great ideas were shared. Much to "steal" and think about how to use/reuse/expand on. See you guys next week.
