Hi, I'm Jessica. I'm a college student in Southern California studying to become an elementary school teacher & minoring in studio art, hoping to eventually have an afterschool art program at my school. I look forward to learning from you all & contributing what I can #K12ArtChat
I’m looking forward to prompting some great conversation about SEAL (Social-Emotional Artistic Learning) where students develop their sel through the arts and creativity! #k12artchat
A1: My creativity comes out when I am lesson planning. This is my first year moving from classroom teacher to an art position so I am making it up as I go. I also create batik textile art in my free time. Check out my insta @alisapotterstudio#K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap
A2: Being creative makes me feel free. I've never been a color in the lines type of person so when my creativity is restricted it can be quite stifling. #K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap
#K12artchat A1 anything that makes you solve, build, invent, explore, & learn. I’m a divergent thinker & I have a strong desire to take care of things/people. I also have a need to help others. My world revolves in this realm.
A2 How we feel when we go through the creative process is priceless. We learn so much! These lessons in SEAL are what we need to provide for our students! #K12ArtChat
A2 When I'm creating, I feel exhilarated and unstoppable. Until I hit a roadblock, then, it's determination. But I have to love what I'm creating! #k12artchat
#K12artchat A2 it’s my every breath. My mind cannot turn it off. Sometimes it’s frustrating but other times it’s bliss. I get frustrated when I cannot reach my full potential with my ideas.
A3: When ever you are trying to create something for the first time there is a lot of experimentation involved. Trial and error is a standard part of being creative. #K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap
A2: Being creative makes me feel more engaged & excited about what we’re doing. When I try something new or take the extra time and effort to shake up the way we’ve traditionally done lessons or activities, I am just so excited to share it with my Ss and peers! #k12artchat
A2: Being creative without parameters is when I feel most zen, I'm working on learning to let go and be in the moment more often - so I've been creating a lot more #K12ArtChat
A2 being creative makes me feel energized. Creativity for me, is a process of pulling from all life’s experiences, moments, interactions, relationships. I’m energized from the act of finding the right bridge to connect disparate ideas. #k12artchat

A1 I've been creating global galleries of artistic expressions surrounding the seasons. It is my creative endeavor to let voice rise around the globe. Last one was #TheArtofSummering: https://t.co/z2HGhkU1V8#K12ArtChat
A3: By giving Ss the opportunity to take risks & truly be creative in class. I think if we create a space where Ss feel like they can step out of their comfort zone and try something different or intriguing to them, they’ll feel that ownership & trust and get into it #k12artchat
A4: Being creative, in a way, is a journey of the self. You are exploring and acting on your ideas, the good and the bad. #K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap
A3 provide an environment where students can make connections between school and life. The energy comes from seeing new possibilities and understanding that learning is not just isolated facts, compartmentalized subjects or specific standards. #k12artchat
A1 Love the idea that outfitting the little ones is such a creative task. I guess I am a fan of that as I purchase my grandbaby's clothing gifts. #K12ArtChat
When they see us being curious, adventurous, fearless, willing to be vulnerable, make “ mistake” regroup and challenge ourselves, then we empower them #k12artchat
A1 All teachers can tap their passions and somehow infuse them into lessons to illustrate their creative side. I think there is an art to creative lesson planning. #K12ArtChat

A5: Often times children & adults have a hard time finding words to express their feelings. Art can be a window to the soul, allowing people to express themselves and be understood in ways they couldn't before. #K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap
A4 In the past, learning was assembling ss as products of Industrial Age. Today, learning is @ facilitating experiences for ss to make connections. In a world w/access to infinite info, creative process of making connections will be the currency of the conceptual age #K12ArtChat

A4: I feel like both being creative and learning revolve around a process of trial and error. In both, there’s always some component of risk and in that space where an “I don’t know how this is going to work” gets answered, learning takes place #k12artchat
#K12artchat A4 an idea is just an idea. You need to make it real. It’s not in a linear map, it’s a journey and only u can discover the outcome. I know when it’s right& struggle with it when it’s wrong. Always rewarding to come out the other end. The process it the best part.
Q4 it’s an adventure a journey and we often discover as much about ourselves as we do about whatever it was that set us in the journey itself #k12artchat
A6: Giving students opportunities to express themselves creatively helps them interact with others is new ways. Art can help people understand themselves and others on a deeper level. #K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap.
A1 Creative collaboration w @Artguy76 on ideas 2 foster creativity in his art rm led me 2 wrirw a #poem, Art Class that was published in @janetwongauthor@SylviaVardell's new book, Great Morning! So excited that our creative channels connected. #k12artchat

A5 I believe creativity is an act of making connections. Art is a process of infusing emotions into these connections & make them human centered/meaningful. Art provides an opportunity for students to develop an emotional awareness by making the invisible... visible. #k12artchat
A4 The creative process is a learning process because so much of creating is about exploring the unknow and expanding what’s possible-that’s learning. Also, acting on an idea, is also a skill that needs to be learned-That’s creating. #K12ArtChat
#k12artchat A5 students need to have time in their lives when they can have time to dive deep, feel free to struggle, plan, take time, and share their ideas. Growth happens Here- not a grade on a exam. Life isn't an exam.
A2 Creative makes me explode with joy when I am in the making mood. It can be baking, artwork, writing, but poetry is my love! When the creative bulb is lit, the sparks fly. #K12ArtChat
It can facilitate learning skills in other areas of life, how to approach inquiry or problems. I often use it to help w intense emotions-take your brain off the train and put it ont the canvas #k12artchat

Being creative can help us find ourselves and understand others, build relationships and give us direction, teaching us how to make mistakes, move on, grow and feel! #K12ArtChat
A6 we live in a world where the soc./emo. impact of life centered issues both inside/out of school, become a barrier to academic learning. However, if we empower ss to create/express/connect learning instead of consume it, we will grow a generation of creative minds. #k12artchat
A4 Being in the creative frame of mind allows me to explore ideas beyond my comfort zone. The productive struggle is a place that allows the learning to occur. Trial/error/ route to learning with a dash of #hope. #K12ArtChat
How to claim $100 from the NSW govt for your ‘creative kids’ this is pretty awesome for NSW to support the arts like this #k12ArtChathttps://t.co/Ti1BUJh0Ku
