Too many people outside of education making the decisions.
If education change were easy we'd call it EDUCATION FUN.
Any change requires that Ppl have to give up some things they have come to believe or have always done for a long time. That's hard.

WHEN A TEACHER is overloaded she has no room for improvement. Must lower her load for improvement to occur.
If innovation was truly the goal that Ppl pay lip service to, schools would be more supportive of those who promote change.
I will play devil's advocate here. Teaching is a trade, not a profession. The AMA removes members who aren't qualified.
RT WHEN A TEACHER is overloaded she has no room for improvement. Must lower her load for improvement to occur.

Ts need to make the changes that are best for their Ss. When possible, those need to happen within the external restrictions.

IMPROVE EDUCATION? The current education landscape is populated by the HAVES, HAVE NOTS and DON’T CARES…where to start?
TECHNOLOGY cannot make bad educational practices better, technology just makes bad practices happen more efficiently.
Any change starting from the bottom up needs to be top down supported if it is to work & be accepted.
It's hard to change paradigms in XXI Century Education because many teachers don't want to change teaching methods

So we should start with what is best for the student. Period.
Looking for examples of killer graphic resumes/CVs. Anyone have one they'd share? Thanks!

Your last post and my last post in this conversation totally agree.
I think parents who are not being informed or educated in their kids' education may also slow change. It becomes political.

progress is when we as learners realize that what we've done in past, worked isn't working today, progree equates to learned change

I think parents who are not being informed or educated in their kids' education may also slow change. It becomes political.
Give the instructions orally, graphically, and keep them visible.
Education is slow to change because it doesn't want to change. It's a web of bureaucracy that supports itself, not the student.
What do you mean by "all models are wrong"? Which models? Is research on basic cognitive processes wrong?
Change is hard and a long process. Ave. Supt tenure is under 3 years. Principal under 5. Consistent vision needed.

W/change taking place at a pace never before experienced, how can education not be affected. How do we as educators remain relevant?
also, what role does a parent have? Do schools ever advocate for parent empowerment in case a teacher isn't working out?
Now in XXI Century Education we, as teachers, must develop school- familly- community Partenership
so how's that working for you?

True power does not come from titles/positions/fear/scarcity but from responsibility, humility, love & abundance.
Organic & local change are incredible, but we are in desperate need of complete system redesigns.
The secret was that I wasn't trying to hide ineffective Ts. They were all great. Parents looked at learning styles.
