A2 - To me, work ethic means pushing through, even when the learning task is difficult, to finish the task.

A2: Ss driven to do their best work-not just turning it in and saying it's over. Does the *type* of work produce better effort?

A2:To rise to the task, even if the S is unsure. A drive or sense for completion and accomplishment.

A3 - when the student as well as the teacher is satisfied with the end result.

A3. When they stop making me say "That's not your best work or reflection of your knowledge."

Q2 it means a kid has internal drive. Not only motivated be me or parents. Self desire to be awesome. Whatever it takes mentality

That's one of the reasons I'm here tonight. I struggle with helping them overcome their "once-and-done" work ethic.

Q4: How do we move our classrooms and our students from a culture of compliance towards one of innovation?

A3: I think the community will be built -- Ss encourage each other to do their best work and build each other up.

A3: When Ss want to turn in their best work, ask for more time to get it right. Willing to come on their time.

I love inquiry based learning - even when you're done, you're never done - but in a good way. :-)

A4: Those words just have so much feeling behind them -- compliance seems legalistic; innovation allows creativity.

A4. When students are in charge of their learning, and it is engaging, they will want to learn. PBL is a good method.

A4: when the work is S centered they can innovate. Connect to their interest as much as possible.

there are a great deal of "shifts" to make learning applicable to the real world. STEAM and STEM are driving learning.

We have to reward the fort to innovate & not the results. Innovation & creativity are risks that dont always pan out and that's OK

A5: . We have to support Ts in creativity & innovation with lesson planning. Ss want lessons they can connect with.

We do. I'm fort. to have that rarely say no to even crazy, but student-driven ideas. Not all Ts are so lucky

yep, I agree. Portfolios can show depth of learning, originality, personality and so much more.

this week at summer camp I'm going to allow students to teach the class for our next projects. They need exposure.

there is low tech, high expectations for higher order and critical thinking. There is NO expectation for low thinking

I also suggest Adobe Spark Page. Very intuitive and free. Google sign up allowed :)
