Hi , remembering last week when you helped w/ Lucid Press, well My Ss did it & we found another one https://t.co/9CH2SPM2w2 😎
leadership this fall-was hit /miss depends on which sessions you go to
A1: never been to a National Conf. & the biggest reasons are cost, location, & wondering which ones are 'right' for me
A1- in New Orleans. Great one & met movers/shakers in
A1: went to Seattle for the network annual conference in Oct. it was a great one!
Q1 - TURN Conference in St. Louis. Amazing conference - got so much out of it.
Hi Ana from Tahoe Stateline- sometimes I call myself NV & sometimes California, when traveling to Mexico I always pack A1 sauce
A1: Yet to attend a nat'l conf, will be attending Nat'l Conf in Palm Springs in March! Expense is biggest part
that's too bad. I know Ts who wrote grants. Check w/ prof. orgs in your content area for recommendations
that sounds awesome! https://t.co/7TOkteOqih
A1: went to Seattle for the network annual conference in Oct. it was a great one!
Brian Briggs from Davis, CA joining briefly
good idea! I write grants for materials & programs for Ss, never thought about learning for me!
Jealous! Wish I could be there with you! Rock it without me!
A1 - TURN Conference in St. Louis. Amazing conference - got so much out of it.
A1 Also lucky to attend national convening-awesome presentations from fellows doing great work
A1 NSTA & NCTM, I'm starting to think these are the traditional conferences & I need to add different ones
A1: ISTE 2015 and yes it was worth it. Grt conf to collab w/others.
I got one for $1000. Covered flight/hotel/registration costs. Food was out of my pocket & loved it!
A1 last conference was Twittermathcamp. Hands down best conference ever. Teachers developing teachers.
- camps are fantastic! Loved it.
That is one that I would like to attend. How was it?
A1- national? I haven't attended any that, I don't think. Too expensive & I'm not important enough to be sent by my school
Q2: What’s the last Regional/State Conference you attended and was it worth it? If you haven't gone, then why not?
We all impact students so we all are important enough! In my opinion...
depends on sessions you go to-they bring in big names & some are good some better in print
A2 CUE Nor NV was great this fall https://t.co/vhg1C9J6rL
Q2: What’s the last Regional/State Conference you attended and was it worth it? If you haven't gone, then why not?
A2: I went to the summit with some amazing educators & it was BEYOND worth it
A2- Summer Conf in Lake Tahoe. Always great & nice break from heat in NV.
A2 - OR/WS training. Meeting with other teachers talking about how to help Ss feel valued in the classroom. Definitely worth it.
A:2 Fall in Napa, worth every penny!
I would ask them if you can go and if not, there are grants out there for you to apply.

A2: attend on Saturday and will be at this weekend
A2 regional NSTA in Reno, is it worth it? I purchased a plant light bank, hydroponic plants, Fire Bellied toads are on the way 😂

A2: Learning Conf. this past weekend. It was amazing. Can't wait for next years!
right on! I'm in https://t.co/KcNd3YDCp6
Plan for this fall, we will be solidifying the date in the next couple of weeks for
Q3: How many takeaways do you try to bring back with you and why from any conference?
One of my fav conferences I attend was the
A2- I attended which was great. gave an inspiring presentation.
A3: As many as possible, but if you can come back with one great idea, it was worth it!
. ISTE15 have been to about 6 ISTE's - make more contacts and great convos than any other conventions I attend
A3: I try to implement something from each conference ASAP. It's easy to stay in routine and "forget" all you learn.
A3-About 3, implement something now, something in a month or two, & something to work on for future
A3: It varies on the conf. Each session I go to I shld at least hv 1 take away.Keep an open mind & the lring opprtnities r endless.
A3: sometimes the best take away is a better attitude or a new friend
A3 - I try to categorize my takeaways. Things I can do right away, short term goals, long term plans... Avoid being overwhelmed.
That and meeting the people you "know" on Twitter!
A3: I try as many as I can during the conferences and see what sticks. But networking with others is the best takeaway
Attending conferences is a recharge for me!!
- Yes!!! If I can do something right away, I know it was worthwhile...
A3 Try 2 bring back ideas 2 improve engagement. Father Figures night was 2nite. Got idea at a conference https://t.co/242LKbVrDM
A3 There are so many takeaways for yourself & your colleagues, & sharing is caring.
Q4: How valuable are attending Conferences during the summer vs during the school year? & Why?
A3- My goal is always to find 1 new thing to use when I leave. But also hope to be inspired/excited about what I do
A4: Anytime is the right time to improve and learn, why stop when summer rolls around or when you are busy? MAKE TIME!
A3: my goal for conferences is to make at least one new friend
A4: I have less pressure in the summer. Allows me to focus on what I'm learning & not not try to multi-task too much. :)
Q3 I don't go with a number in mind, go through notes week after & consolidate rewrite them to visualize.
A4-Both have value. I network at every conference & you always get different folks depending on time of year
A4:last summer I went up a conference in Chicago them extended my stay and it was a win/win!
A4- summer conferences are a great way to start a new year. It gives you planning time & the excitement to go back
Q4 I avoided at all costs missing class time. Tried to do all conferences in summer/weekends.
A4: Both hv bniftsinspire/ rechrge, grow your PLN. Lrn new stratgies, lessons, tools 2 assist ur Ss.Make u keep that grwth mndset.
A5-Should attendance at professional conferences be included or required in educator evaluations?
A4 I've never been to an ED Conf., over the summer, I've been wanting to do Steve Spangler in the Rocky Mountains 4ever now
A5: Making them required would be tough, but the benefit is so great, they need to be strongly encouraged
A5: No. Sorry, being very real. I like learning with others that are attending to grow and learn, not mandated to attend.
A5: Included would be great and required would be awesome if they schools can help with cost.
A5: no because some might be unable to commit to time/cost for various reasons. Can be included as optional PD for eval.
A5: Only if districts paid for them otherwise no. I do think that everyone shld attend a few in their career.
A5-Probably little of both. Yes include, can show prof growth. Require? Depends on funding, time, etc. long way to go
A5- it should be part of it & schools should be required to send teachers to the conferences that benefit them most
Thank you for joining tonight’s on Professional Conferences.
A5 Give a choice between District PD or Conferences-I wouldn't mind being evaluated for takeaways I learned from conferences 😜
I thnk it is imprtnt that Ts who attnd conf/provide trning 2 their collgues abt wht they lrnd. Cont.the PD outside the conf walls.
A3 - at least one solid takeaway is enough because I'm more apt to incorporate it than if I have many to try.
A5 - Only if the costs are paid for, teacher chooses matched to their goals, maybe at least 1 or 2 others from site attend too
Continue the conversation by using the hashtag all week long! See you next Monday @ 8pm PST.
