The goal of #wvedchat is to provide educators an opportunity to connect, share, and learn from others by engaging in conversations around issues and topics in education.
A1: As prices drop on the printers, 3D printing is going to be valuable hands on tool. Ss can create and then touch and feel what they have created. Aligned all of that with content standards and BAM! You have some super cool engaging lessons. #WVEdChat#3DPrinting
#wvedchat Sorry guys! Getting home late. Excited to learn more about the 3D printing craze though. I need to see the learning in action. Haven't seen that much yet.
A2: I think that you could make something that has to do with a topic they are learning about and then use their piece to explore and learn more about the topic as they create #WVedChat
A2: they could do a life cycle; I could see Michelle talking about places in the state and then have the kids print something they learned about #WVedChat
#wvedchat When you say "kids print stuff", is it generally a collaborative experience more of a one or two kid project? Can you print several items in a day?
A3: When they are working in the software and then getting ready to print they would have to use problem solving to think about what to make or print correct? #WVEdchat
A3: With the business plan the Ss will be in groups They will work together 2 create business name & logo and they will also create a product to sell. They will need to price the item so they can pay their bills (they must purchase the filament) and still make a profit. #WVEdChat
Well you could give them a topic and a problem to work on and then ask them to come up with a way to solve their problem based on the topic in order to print #WVedChat
I mean we use it in Tinker Time and I see their excitement if they could see other ways the skills we are teaching them are used like coding or building a bridge they would understand #WVEdchat
A4: #WVEdchat First chat of the year & excited to be back! Our art teacher is using 3d printing right now with basic designs but we're getting ready to measure, design, and print replacement parts for some broken items and create musical instruments.
A5: Ss will be the creator rather than the consumer. The Ss will have worked hard to make a product. They will understand the time and energy that it takes create. The kids will not want someone using their design without having received credit for the design. #WVEdChat
A5: That would be a great opportunity to show the kids how to take ownership of their own creations and how to give credit to those who help them #WVEdchat
Puts the shoe on the other foot. They are always using photos and information from others, now they are the person who may have their work “stolen” or misused #WVEdChat
That's one of the hardest things to get a kid to understand, but I LOVE using their 3D printed materials as examples to help illustrate this point. #DigCit#WVEdchat
