#K12ArtChat is an #ArtsEd chat that happens every Thurs 8:30 pm CST founded by #TeamGrundler @ArtGuy76 & @GrundlerArt & share Ss' art on Fridays via #FabArtsFri.
Q1: I was a classroom teacher for 4 years before this and now I am teaching art for Gr. 1 & 2 and act as a reading support teacher. I am proud of the final product my Gr. 2's from my first art show! #TeamGrundler#K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap
A1: Everyday is a proud moment. Seeing students step out of their comfort zones and help each other out is awesome. The plan is to continue that process. #k12ArtChat
A1: I finally did the @shinebrite71 collaborative quilt this year with my students. It was a success and the families of @HassanElem have enjoyed this work displayed. Each kid had a part of the final product and that's what made it successful! #k12ArtChathttps://t.co/dH71VZdxyS
#k12artchat A1 I'm proud that my students embraced ChoiceArt and it's skin deep. I see that they think, plan,&create outside the studio. I want to continue to help them innovate& discover what it's like to be a creator.
Our Pride of Plano exhibit is currently hanging it's a K-12 exhibit chosen by community jurors and we are very proud! Going to continue to encourage Ts to stretch along with their Ss #K12ArtChat#pisdcreatesart
A2: As I live in Japan, the Zodiac is a big part of the culture here. So I am going to do a project celebrating the year of the boar with my class next week. #K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap#TeamGrundler
#K12ArtChat A2 I need to remember to take care of myself so I can better take care of them. Teaching is not the hard part, it's juggling everything & being everything.
A1 got this note earlier this year. I look at it every time I feel like a failure or having one of “those” days. It reminds me that teaching is always about relationships above all else. #k12ArtChat
A2: Celebrating by putting plans in action and working on self-care which benefits me and the teachers I work with........ #K12ArtChat Can't take care of anyone unless I put the oxygen on first.
A3: This is Aro's drawing before break. He told me he was really proud of it. An important milestone for Ss is doing something they didn't think they could do and feeling proud of their work for the first time. #K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap#TeamGrundler
A1: I am proud of the fact that I, inspired a group of Art I 7th-8th Grs to continue to take art & experience a bunch of different mediums that they might not think of! #K12ArtChat
A3: I am trying to capture our milestones by developing a digital portfolio as well as a sketchbook with my students. #k12artchat Image from https://t.co/XC6BFwjiDk
#K12ArtChat A3 My milestones with my courses is that it's the "culture" supported by my talented, smart, creative, and kind artists that make the studio function as a safe, vital, brilliant place to discover, explore, research, and create. It's the standard.
A1- (I’m posting this twice on 2 projects that I’m extremely proud of) Something that made me really proud in 2018 that I will be building on in 2019, is our Pottery ThrowDown. On Dec. 14th we Challenged @Richmondruss Ceramics class #K12ArtChat We’ll be doing another challenge!
A4: I will push students to do things that are hard and encourage them not to give up so that they can accomplish things they didn't think the could do before and feel proud of their accomplishments. #K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap#TeamGrundler
A3: Students need to see their growth over time! I think they should do process and portfolio checks so that they can see their learning, growth and build confidence. #K12ArtChat
#K12ArtChat A1: As a dept we had a highly successful juried exhibit year—the best in school history with five pieces in the Ohio Governor’s, three from the same one of my Ss. We are using this momentum to challenge students to work more conceptually on a larger scale.
A3 trying to get ss to develop creative confidence in each other. Talking about pride as something you feel when you accomplish something you didn’t think you could. Trying to build intrinsic motivation through pride, confidence & peer empowerment. #K12ArtChat
Q3. Depends on student- coming to class, not under influence, using a paintbrush, not eating the paint brush, using glue or “ yucky” things, sharing an idea, taking a leadership role, pushing their design limits to next level craziness #K12ArtChat
A4: I hope to not only show students how to create a digital portfolio and use their sketchbooks... but also WHY!! I want them to celebrate growth in their skills and ideas! #k12artchat
#K12ArtChat A4 Continue to show them how creatives do & can be great leaders, inventors, change-makers, and producers. The creative field is so much more& it's a lifetime skill application for success.
A3: Milestone of Ss, them to get excited about how a practice skill turns out, even when it is not their favorite or done in a medium that they don’t like. (Did it w/ pen doing contour) Sheer panic in their face, but after a bit they became happier with the out come! #K12ArtChat
A5: I will continue to encourage students and create a space where it is safe to try something new and fail, too, by drawing/creating in front of them and making mistakes as I often do. #K12ArtChat@NAEA@TXarted#tlap#TeamGrundler
A1: Not an artist here. I enjoyed combing Art/Tech and Design/Science. Gotta keep the room creative.
Howard. Full inclusion math science. I'm lurking for a friend. #k12artchat
A1- The 2nd Project that I was really proud in 2018 is National Handwriting Day. On Jan. 23rd, last year, I took 30 of my students to @SimpBobcats to group up with/teach 4th gr. to write in Old English #K12ArtChat with dip pens. Going to @heritage_elem this year as well !
Q4 provide the opportunities, listen and value who they are /where they are, keep creating and fostering a safe, inclusive environment where everyone is welcomed and valued as part of our “ team” our “ 204 family” #k12ArtChat
A5: To encourage 'Art Making' outside of the classroom, I have given @HassanElem students a 'Making It' challenge for the New Year. Challenges like this allow families to be part of my classroom community as well as the students. #k12ArtChathttps://t.co/NkGxNaJxSE@NBCMakingIt
#K12ArtChat A5 I'm teaching them how their research, quality written reflections, presentations,& work creating can be leveraged for scholarships, opportunities,& 2 brand their futures in a positive way.
A4 creating environment where ss talk w/each other, encourage one another & inspire those around them. I hope to help ss find pride in the struggle, find inspiration in the challenge, & find meaning in the work! I will lead by stepping back, listening & reflecting. #K12ArtChat

#k12artchat A6 #EDUGoals I'm learning more about my Glowforge in my home studio & experimenting with crossover media. Striving to keep my skills sharp. Walk the Talk.
A3- Some milestones we celebrated today, in some classes, were the achievements and strides Each Of My Students have made this year in Art #K12ArtChat it hit home, especially for those who didn’t think they had Any Artistic Talent at the beginning of the school year!
A5 I will try & cont. to build classroom community by stopping whatever plans I had, to address the issues of the moment. Everyday brings new challenges, & a community needs to talk about these challenges openly. Not ignore them or punish those who bring it to light #K12ArtChat
#K12ArtChat A5: Implementing more collaborative work, especially at higher levels. I also have unique situation because I’ve been on a part time LOA with my preemie daughter so this second half of the year will be an added challenge back to full time
A6: Already received some mail from TX from classrooms participating in the 4th Annual MiniMatisse Artist Trading Card Swap. The #ATCswap is a continuing #EduGoals for me! Packages from Italy, Australia, and Spain have already arrived as well! #k12ArtChathttps://t.co/fUlRCeoy0I

One of my #EDUGoals is to try and help other teachers and districts embrace creativity as a way of being. Our future depends on the creative minds of our students. #K12ArtChat
A1: having my students collaborate with @ksuarts to do an aluminum pour! I want to continue using community support to enhance the experiences of my students. #k12ArtChat
#k12artchat Bonus Q- #oneword What comes to my mind right now is #PressOn#TrustYourInstincts#Believe Overall it means to know yourself & listen, observe, & be in tune with your students. That's what matters- not all the other "noise"
#EduGoals - for 2019 accomplish a big project that @artguy76 started with our family, present more and continue to take care of myself better so that I can assist other teachers to the the fullest. #K12ArtChat
Yep, Weekly... mostly Art Teachers from all over the world, but admin, and other creative teachers and Artist join in as well. We're here every Thur. at 8:30 CST. It's called the #k12ArtChat hosted by @k12artchat
A5- Here’s how I plan to continue to build my classroom community in 2019: 1) Do relevant/ real world/ engaging Art projects, connected to other content areas 2) talk to Every Student in my classroom, EVERY DAY! 3) If I’m motivated, They’ll be motivated #K12ArtChat
My #oneword is PRIDE. In an educational system that breeds speed/compliance/conformity, I want ss to stop learning 4 others (ts, parents, colleges, etc)& start learning/thinking/reflecting/creating/making 4 themselves. Pride comes from within not from others. #K12ArtChat
A6- My personal #EduGoals for 2019 is to either begin my 2nd Masters Degree Program OR begin a PhD/ EdD in Art Education program #K12ArtChat already have begun researching Which Program is right for me.
Cool! Have you looked at #k12ArtChat ? I'm still new to these Twitter chats, but their conversation looks really interesting and all about Ss producing art
