Good evening everyone and welcome to #122edchat Introduce yourself, your role, your school. What was the first piece of tech you had that got you super excited?
Phil from Northern Virginia. I teach 7th grade US History II. First piece of tech that got me excited as a student was probably a TI-83 calculator. As an adult? @Screencastify for sure! #122edchat
Hey #122edchat! Michael A. from @Simmonsknights1 in Chicago. I am the #STEM Facilitator for @SmartLab_tweets that is currently running on fumes. Tech Week for Lion King is killing me. First technology, my CD player with my Vanilla Ice CD. Ha, yeah, so ashamed.
What's up #122edchat. Scott from Winchester VA. I teach history and am the founder and moderator of #fcpslearn. My first piece of tech was a casette deck that I taped songs off the radio.
Hello #122edchat. Mark Levine, keep of the Middle School Zen in the Chicago area. Getting to project using a smart board made my teaching SOOO much better.
Stephanie Norkus, 6-8 Life Skills Teacher, Simmons. My first piece of tech that got me super excited was utilizing Paperport on our i-pads and becoming almost entirely paperless! #122edchat
Julie, 6th ELA, Simmons Middle School, the personal computer (shows my age). I was so excited to play @CarmenSandiego, In the school setting LCD projector. #122edchat
Hi! Danielle Miller, 6th Grade Math, Oak Lawn, IL.. my first piece of tech.. like ever? Well my first non camera samsung flip phone that I got when I was in high school got me excited! I knew big things were coming once that happened! :) #122edchat
Patrick, an #edtech coach from northern VA. Living the dream each day with Ts and Ss utilizing tech. to create and share amazing things.
First great tech was Oregon Trail via floppy disc on Mac.
#122edchat
Hi everyone! I am Tracy Flood. Principal @Simmonsknights1 in Oak Lawn, IL. First piece of tech that got me excited was my 2XL learning robot I got somewhere in the 80's. #122edchat
Good evening everyone and welcome to #122edchat Introduce yourself, your role, your school. What was the first piece of tech you had that got you super excited?
Rhea, 4th grade ELA from @CaldwellElemen in Florida. First tech ever? Probably my first Atari back in the day LOL. First tech in EDU? Probably getting into @Flipgrid this year. #122edchat
Good evening everyone and welcome to #122edchat Introduce yourself, your role, your school. What was the first piece of tech you had that got you super excited?
Hi. My name is Susan, and I am finishing up my last week of student teaching. I will be graduating next week which is crazy. I am currently working on writing 130 personalized notes to put in my gift bags. #122edchat
Hello everyone, I am Alfonso from the Philippines. I am the DP Coordinator and the Science fair teacher in Keys School Manila. When I got my iPad it got me thinking how best to use it in class #122edchat
Q1: In the game of Centipede, your character grows as you progress through the game. How has your mindset regarding technology changed as you have progressed as an educator? #122edchat
A1: When I first started, tech was a means for me to project information & lead direct instruction. Now, it's a way to make my classroom student-led and inquiry-based. #122edchat
Hi! Andrea from D122, 7th gr ELA. My school tablet hooked me way back in the day; I thought it was so cool I could "write" on my computer & project it wirelessly. #122edchat
Q1: In the game of Centipede, your character grows as you progress through the game. How has your mindset regarding technology changed as you have progressed as an educator? #122edchat
A1, I am still heavily a tech person, my mindset has been a complete 180 since starting in education. I am know where near the same person as I started. #122edchat
A1: As a pre-service teacher, I have been accustomed to technology. I have noticed that I always need a plan B because tech does not always work. We have had instances where our fuse went out. I view tech as a tool and not the lesson. #122edchat
A1: When I first started, I thought I had to have continuous control, a quiet classroom, and worksheets for every class. Man, I’m so glad I changed. #122edchat
Q1: In the game of Centipede, your character grows as you progress through the game. How has your mindset regarding technology changed as you have progressed as an educator? #122edchat
A1: I was enamored with the glitzy new toy and wanted to fit it in whenever and wherever. I am more mindful of how that tech can facilitate the learning. #122edchat
Q1: In the game of Centipede, your character grows as you progress through the game. How has your mindset regarding technology changed as you have progressed as an educator? #122edchat
A1: I used to look at technology as another 'thing' that was separate from instruction. Didn't really think about all of the great opportunities that it had to enhance instruction! #122edchat
Q1: In the game of Centipede, your character grows as you progress through the game. How has your mindset regarding technology changed as you have progressed as an educator? #122edchat
A1: If you're truly integrating tech you cannot have anything other than a #growthmindset. Plan A may well fail but Plan B can be awesome too. Growing through modeling the failure of one and success of another... That's the good stuff.
#122edchat
A1: I have always been a fan of tech, but my approach to incorporation has grown. It started as a tool for presentation for me but has morphed into an avenue for creation for students. #122edchat
A1- My mindset has always been to at least give it a try, but as the years have progressed I have become less afraid of breaking something. I take more risks the more comfortable I get. #122edchat
A1: I always was afraid to try new things.. I always thought something would go wrong, now instead I'm excited to! There are so many cool programs like @Desmos to help students enjoy math! Sure, things can go wrong, but 99% of the time, it's awesome! #122edchat
A1: My philosophy has grown from quantity to quality. Once I tested out enough apps and websites, I know now what works in my class and was able to streamline the process. #122edchat
A1 it has always been a growth mindset one. What opportunities can I take to make my student's be seen, heard, and appreciated? How can tech make everyone included in our class? #122edchat
A1: I have definitely developed a growth mindset. I know that if I want to learn it, there is nothing stopping me. I just have to do the work. I have lost my fear of it and have grown as a result. #122edchat
Q1: In the game of Centipede, your character grows as you progress through the game. How has your mindset regarding technology changed as you have progressed as an educator? #122edchat

Q1: In the game of Centipede, your character grows as you progress through the game. How has your mindset regarding technology changed as you have progressed as an educator? #122edchat
Hi Melissa sliding in late!!! Teacher life in May!
A1 I have realized that technology can enhance instruction, but should not replace good teaching. I have embraced tech more since realizing I don't have to give up what I love to do #122edchat
#122edchat
A1: Loved centipede!. this is yr1 for me, but I've grown a LOT in my tech usage thanks to peers and PLN. Twitter chats broaden my horizons for sure, but the biggest growth has been recent global collaborations thanks to Skype and @Flipgrid#122edchat
Q1: In the game of Centipede, your character grows as you progress through the game. How has your mindset regarding technology changed as you have progressed as an educator? #122edchat
A1 constantly looking for opportunities to use technology in a school that doesn't have a tech policy. I am in search of that app that everyone can use and maximize. #122edchat
A1: I have to admit that my mindset is at times in a tug-o-war... I love tech in the classroom but we have to be smart about how much we use it and for what purpose. #122edchat
A1: The more I became comfortable with tech, the more it is used in class. It seems like second nature. How can I incorporate tech in the lesson, is a question that I am consistently asking. I also look to see how it is going to be incorporated with fidelity. #122edchat
A1: It has evolved in the use by Ss and what they can create and share. Before we just created, now it gets shared, changed, and can get authentic feedback #122edchat
A1.2: Don't forget though.. Ss get so much screentime.. it's ok to not incorporate so much tech all the time! A class discussion or debate is just as engaging!
#122edchat
Oh man, where to start? Just the collaboration piece is huge - whether it is the chance for me to give feedback in a timely and meaningful matter or my Ss working together on a project/problem. Collaboration is enhanced so much w/ tech #122edchat
Alfonso, have you ever heard of @plickers? It’s low tech but is an amazing formative assessment opportunity.
If students are 1:1 or BYOD, I can share with you some faves. #122edchat
I am loving that me and my students are at the place where the tech is a natural part of our learning and not a shiny toy, just to say we used it. #122edchat
Q2: Super Mario Brothers was exciting because each level brought some new challenges. What is something tech related that you want to challenge yourself to learn more about (and possibly soon)? #122edchat
A1: My very first job was as a catholic elementary computer teacher. I taught kids how to program computers. It wasn't a learning tool at that time. Now the entire world is within our student's grasp #122edchat
A1 - I was in the gym for most of my career, so technology wasn’t a big part of teaching. Now, between being on a class and providing PD it’s not only grown, but necessary. #122edchat
A1: At first, whenever I got excited about some new #edtech I immediately used it in class. The result was so confusing for my Ss. I don't do that anymore I only use a small number of excellent apps and not all at once at first @Flipgrid@MicrosoftEDU@PlayCraftLearn#122edchat
Q2: Super Mario Brothers was exciting because each level brought some new challenges. What is something tech related that you want to challenge yourself to learn more about (and possibly soon)? #122edchat
A1 When we first got iPads we used them for free time and some math work. Over time we started using them to illustrate learning, create digital portfolios, make videos, record interviews etc., #122edchat
A1 My mindset has shifted to embracing the fact that many of the students know more than I do. If I pull in the learning/teaching/facilitating aspect and get out of their way, it often empowers Ss. #122edchat
Q1: In the game of Centipede, your character grows as you progress through the game. How has your mindset regarding technology changed as you have progressed as an educator? #122edchat
A1: From toy2essential Watching the recent FB/Senate hearings had a tremendous impact on me. If we don’t help our Ss develop a true and deep fluency with technology, we are going to have a panel of uninformed politicians up there in 30 years. #allbitofhistoryrepeating#122EdChat
A1. I am completely new to technology use in classroom and so I realized that my mindset has been to try anything- and everything! Don’t be afraid to explore new ways to help students learn. #122edchat
Hey everyone. Adam from Cincy jumping in late. A1: I used to use t chi loft just to use it, but I have realized that it’s not he end all be all. I use it with a purpose now - creating, collaborating, etc. #122edchat
A2: I would love to continue learning more about coding in order to prepare my students for THEIR future. Looking forward to exploring the new @scratch 3.0! #122edchat
A1. Love to try new things! Projects we work with Ss on with technology keeps innovation occurring in the classroom! Something new and something different to do and learn! #122edchat
A2 I am wanting to get better using @Flipgrid and become proficient at making podcasts for students to listen to my mini-lessons as modules of background knowledge. #122edchat
Q2: Super Mario Brothers was exciting because each level brought some new challenges. What is something tech related that you want to challenge yourself to learn more about (and possibly soon)? #122edchat
A2: This year's goal was to incorporate #flipgrid, which students enjoyed. Last year, I learned to use #wevideo, which was also a great tool. Next, looking to use tools that can be used for informal assessments. @MillerMathSMS uses many tools that I'd like to use. #122edchat
A1: using technology really benifits Ss, however finding the right technology to truly support and not just watch. Sometimes that is the tricky part. Time for me having 30 minute groups is another hurdle I am working to over come. #122edchat
A2-I would like to explore more of everything that is out there. I would like to try some of the newer programs. I'm going to specifically get better with @Flipgrid and use everything it has to offer. #122edchat
A1.2: Don't forget though.. Ss get so much screentime.. it's ok to not incorporate so much tech all the time! A class discussion or debate is just as engaging! #122edchat
A2: I'm very good at drag and drop website design but hope to learn how to code they after I finish grad. school this time around. I'm also interested in graphic design via the Adobe suite.
#122edchat
A2: I got a brief intro to @scratch from a session by @_on11 & @megan_hacholski .. I really want to learn more & figure out a way to incorporate it into my last Geometry unit! #122edchat
A2: Making music. I always have wanted to learn how to write music because I have such a love for it. I need to care out time, watch some videos, then press into that world. #122edchat
A1) At first I was very nervous going 1 to 1 but I have really learned to adapt my teaching and expand it with tech tools that push what I would do on paper to another level either connecting with others or expanding on what we do #122edchat
A2: I finally set up a Seesaw account and tried out my 1st activity w/ Ss. I'm excited to use it more fully these last couple weeks of school & then start w/ it right away in the fall. #122edchat
Smart approach. They can only handle so much at once anyway. I do this with Ts I support. Only get to appsmashing with folks who have been along for the ride for awhile. #122edchat
In reply to
@supervxn, @Flipgrid, @MicrosoftEDU, @PlayCraftLearn
A2: I would like to learn coding and how it can be applied to history. I would also like to learn more about utilizing Skype to connect to others. #122edchat
A2: I feel like there is so much I don't know. This twitter chat is my way of challenging myself, but I would also love to find ways to use technology to engage my staff like we want to engage students #122edchat
Q2: Super Mario Brothers was exciting because each level brought some new challenges. What is something tech related that you want to challenge yourself to learn more about (and possibly soon)? #122edchat

Q2: Super Mario Brothers was exciting because each level brought some new challenges. What is something tech related that you want to challenge yourself to learn more about (and possibly soon)? #122edchat
A1 My mindset has always been the same. Find the right tool to do th job. Don't use technology for the sake of technology. Use tech with a purpose when it enhances the learning, provides alternative opportunities, and/or helps with accessibility for all. #122edchat
Absolutely! I think about the power in unplugged coding activities or a traditional #breakoutedu or good old scavenger hunt. Sometimes no tech is the best way to go for sure. #122edchat
A2: @RaeHughart is a true inspiration, and because of her, I plan on creating one unit next year using @thegridmethod. That will be my main focus. #122edchat
A2: I specifically want to look at the most effective use and best practices for running a school Facebook page. Twitter has been so easy and beneficial to use, but many Parents don't use it and we want to reach more families. #122edchat
Q2: Super Mario Brothers was exciting because each level brought some new challenges. What is something tech related that you want to challenge yourself to learn more about (and possibly soon)? #122edchat
A2: two things. I NEED to learn to utilize my SMARTboard for more than a screen for my doc camera, but actually create interactive games. I would also like to get 1to1 in my classroom and learn how to use tablets of some sort. #122edchat
Q2: Super Mario Brothers was exciting because each level brought some new challenges. What is something tech related that you want to challenge yourself to learn more about (and possibly soon)? #122edchat
I use Camtasia when I need to be absent. My students say it is like having a robot me there to teach. Connect this to Google Classroom...I can teach from my bathroom. #122edchat
A2) I have three goals: mystery skype, green screen (hopfully trying next week), and seesaw. I am hopeful to try some new things and push myself out of my own comfort zone. #122edchat
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
One really important point! Remember that what you think is great, means little if your students don’t feel the same way. I won’t call out certain apps, but can tell you that many tools that I thought were “lights out”, were duds for students. Always do a trial first! #122edchat
Try to be mindful about valuing social interactions and still incorporating them. I.e. do an kindness campaign online but still get the kids out in the community to be kind to others #122edchat
A2- I’ve learned so much over the past couple of years. Ideally, I’d like to learn how I can continue to use our district’s core apps in new and different ways so I don’t always need to learn 100 different things! #122edchat
A3: Make the tech integration seamless and RELEVANT - don't just have Ss use Slides because it's tech. There should be a clear purpose for why you're using tech rather than going tech-free. #122edchat
A3: By not forcing technology as the only mean of instruction. Technology is a tool, not the only tool. Students can be incredibly innovative with pencil and paper and to deny them of that opportunity is a shame! #122edchat@LRobbTeacher@ERobbPrincipal@moler3031
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
A3: The key for me was to start small. What is one place in this day that I can implement technology so that it would improve one aspect of instruction or assessment. #122edchat
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
A3 I deal with this daily with colleagues... Create the lesson first, then ask...how can I enhance this and what might I need to accomplish this... #122edchat
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat

A3: I use #hyperdocs in social studies to help students stay on task and continuously understand the reason we are doing what we are doing. Using websites that are educationally sound and grade level appropriate. #122edchat
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
A3: Remember that technology is a tool used for delivering content, but it can never replace great teaching. Blend it in with a variety of other learning opportunities. Technology allows for us to give more 1 on 1 time with student FB. #122edchat
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
A3: Too often we make the tech the main dish instead of the enhancement. We need to allow students the ability to choose how/if they want to incorporate it. Flexibility is key. #122edchat
A3-I use technology regularly, it has just become part of the class. There are days when we use it and days we do not. Our students do not look at it as a separate thing it is part of everyday life. #122edchat
A3: The key here is technology integration vs use. Use calls for learning to occur with the technology at the same time. This learning is enhanced throughout with technology, not just at the end.
#122edchat
A3 Keep it organic and give kids a low-tech option sometimes. I had Ss do a poster this week, and they could do it "old-school" or digital. Love the variety I have seen. #122edchat
A3: This always a challenge, but keep the end goal in mind! Figure out what you want kids to learn & then brainstorm the best way to get there. I'm looking forward to hearing about my PLN's ideas for this one too. #122edchat
A3 It's the debate between IT and TI. IT being Information Technology and TI being Tech Integration. Really needs to be one in the same....heavy tech needs to help integration and integration needs to influence high end tech. #122edchat
A2 Just picked up some micro:bits and plan to dig into @MSMakeCode soon. I've seen @thekylekitchen@ArcherJoe do some awesome stuff with these. I would love for Ss to code their own fitness tracker or interactive wearable. #122edchat
Q2: Super Mario Brothers was exciting because each level brought some new challenges. What is something tech related that you want to challenge yourself to learn more about (and possibly soon)? #122edchat
I'm digging that idea! We do video announcements once a week and want that to be student run but can also include it for the whole school community! #122edchat
A3 one of the basic things I learned from a seminar on tech integration: you don't need a whole box of apps, you just need a carefully selected and curated set of apps to really make your lessons come alive and make learning meaningful #122edchat
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
A1. I am completely new to technology use in classroom and so I realized that my mindset has been to try anything- and everything! Don’t be afraid to explore new ways to help students learn. #122edchat
A3) I think it is important to use it as a tool to be helpful instead of looking it like "another thing." Find ways to incorporate it into things we already do, then try something a little outside of the box, then try a whole digital lesson. Its about balance. #122edchat
A3 The more we learn about technology and the more we use, it becomes more seamless. The more comfortable we are the more creative the uses for it become #122edchat
A3: Too often we make the tech the main dish instead of the enhancement. We need to allow students the ability to choose how/if they want to incorporate it. Flexibility is key. #122edchat
Tech is a tool. Teach well, engage kids, and give them the means to create and express what they can do. Tech is merely an avenue to accomplish those goals #122EdChat
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
A3: I started to use @nearpod, and I love it. My students would say that it helps them learn the content better when I do use it as a supplemental resource. I teach the content, but Ss review using it. #122edchat
A1: I Steger using it to replace worksheets. Now I use it to enhance instruction rather than replacing it. There is a time and place for ss to practice the art of writing. And there’s a time when you want to publish! #122edchat
A3
1. What is your goal?
2. How does using technology help answer the “why?”
3. Is the purpose to enhance instruction? Or is it just a way to get compliance?
4. Will using technology actually improve your teaching and learning? #122EdChat
Q4: No matter how many times the alligator eats you in Pitfall, you always have the opportunity to go back and try again. What would be a time you tried to implement technology in the classroom and it didn’t go as planned? #122edchat
Just wanted to thank this amazing #122edchat family for always supporting me. I am graduating next Saturday and, although I am still searching for a teaching position, I am grateful to connect with all of you who are so supportive. You are all rock stars.
A3 The more we learn about technology and the more we use, it becomes more seamless. The more comfortable we are the more creative the uses for it become #122edchat
A3: tech often gets thought of before the designing of the lesson. I like to take old lessons and see if I can fit tech in somewhere. Can I create choices for use of tech or choices for paper/pencil. It’s amazing how many Ss still opt for the paper/pencil. #122edchat
A3: OMG ❤️💜Tetris!!
I feel like I've done a pretty good job of this for the 1st time this week using @Flipgrid to survey Ss from varying grades and states to teach my students why Florida is so popular to tourists.... #122edchat
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
Q2: Super Mario Brothers was exciting because each level brought some new challenges. What is something tech related that you want to challenge yourself to learn more about (and possibly soon)? #122edchat
A4: So many examples. One that sticks out is a digital @breakoutEDU that involved so many broken links - Ss couldn't complete it because of all the mistakes. Learned my lesson the hard way that I need to fully test things instead of using my Ss as guinea pigs! #122edchat
A4 my first rollout of Google Classroom to another class. I came in thinking that since they were all adept at tech, they didn't need further guidance/instruction. I was so wrong #122edchat
A4: Happened just this week when I tried to use an add-on in a Google Form. #epicfail.
Great learning opportunity for my students to see me fail forward. #122edchat
Q4: No matter how many times the alligator eats you in Pitfall, you always have the opportunity to go back and try again. What would be a time you tried to implement technology in the classroom and it didn’t go as planned? #122edchat
A3. Technology shouldn't be used to lead and teach a lesson. The artistry is done by the teacher! It should compliment the lesson or project your working on. #122edchat
A4: As a new teacher, I find myself constantly needing to readjust. I tried using @classroomq when Ss were reviewing, and my Ss were not using it the right way. It blew up in my face, so I ended the session and admitted that the way I used it did not work. #122edchat
A4: Oh, only everything I do! I am a network tech guy transformed into integration. I don't really know how many times I have tried to help with things only for it not to take. Just have to keep looking at the options and trying to find what works! #122edchat
A4- I feel like this happens often. There have been several times where the internet is not working and you need to punt. I have used tools I thought were great and the kids did not get as excited as I did. #122edchat
A4: Plenty of times, for instance today, we had a lighting failure during our show. We took a deep breath, cleared the cues, and re-ran the current cue. Life goes on. It's all in how you respond to adversity. Do not let it master you. #122edchat
A4: I recently tried a website evaluation lesson with 3rd graders but my resources we're at to high of a level. I reflected, iterated, and nailed it in the second attempt!
#122edchat
A4b don't think that just because our students are tech natives that they can manipulate everything. It's important to still guide them along the way #122edchat
A3. Technology is a way to collaborate and connect. It a great way to ehance lessons and engage student learning. However, I still love tech free days. It is definitely about balance! #122edchat
Q4: No matter how many times the alligator eats you in Pitfall, you always have the opportunity to go back and try again. What would be a time you tried to implement technology in the classroom and it didn’t go as planned? #122edchat
A3 I think this is something that takes time. Access is key along with building confidence using a variety of tools and allowing the Ss to lead and choose what works best for them. I think student empowerment over student engagement as a goal here. #122edchat
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
A4 - Did a hyperslide a few weeks ago. Parts of it were amazing, but others were incredibly frustrating. I didn’t fully try it out, and when it was time for instruction, the kids got lost! #122edchat
A4: I had a Smart Board and we had the individual student remotes that could be used for voting/answering. The lesson started, they all died, and we spent 30 minutes trying to fix them. Oh man! #122edchat
Q4: No matter how many times the alligator eats you in Pitfall, you always have the opportunity to go back and try again. What would be a time you tried to implement technology in the classroom and it didn’t go as planned? #122edchat
A4: Before we went 1:1, we had chromebook carts for each department. Before that was laptop carts from IT. There were so many times with the carts that you had to plan an activity to do while they booted up and connected and then got into the actual lesson. #122edchat
Q4: No matter how many times the alligator eats you in Pitfall, you always have the opportunity to go back and try again. What would be a time you tried to implement technology in the classroom and it didn’t go as planned? #122edchat
A4: I had some issues with Google sites and blog postings being deleted and not being able to be recovered. But, they surged ahead and we worked through it. #122edchat
Q4: Just this morning I posted a question on the Google Classroom with a video. Video played fine for me, kids couldn’t get it to work! 🤦🏼♀️ #122edchat
Students having the opportunity to watch us make mistakes and gracefully fail (and learn from it) is more powerful than we will ever know. I sometimes think that makes more of an impact than getting things "right" the first time around! #122edchat
This is why you are amazing, Takreed. Always trying new things. Looking forward to partnering with you in the future on some of these endeavors! #122edchat
A2: This year's goal was to incorporate #flipgrid, which students enjoyed. Last year, I learned to use #wevideo, which was also a great tool. Next, looking to use tools that can be used for informal assessments. @MillerMathSMS uses many tools that I'd like to use. #122edchat
A4: @MrWawczak, I was thinking the same thing. The whole voting thing on the Promethean Board, the use of flipcharts, and the creation of them. Now, I'm a pro (using pre-made ones) and making my own.#122edchat
A4: the first time I tried to utilize @Flipgrid half of our laptops wouldn't record. You'd see the Ss lips moving but no sound! What was really funny was that NONE of them noticed at school, I discovered that night at home trying to grade them! #122edchat#FlippinFail
Q4: No matter how many times the alligator eats you in Pitfall, you always have the opportunity to go back and try again. What would be a time you tried to implement technology in the classroom and it didn’t go as planned? #122edchat
A4 Happened today. Suggested something to Ss, but didn't realize that sharing/printing was a premium feature. Finally figured out how they could share it with me on Chromebooks, but it too awhile. #122edchat
A4) I remember our building got Scootpad and I just had the hardest time figuring it out and how to review and use it as a teaching tool for my students. #122edchat
A4: Everytime. If we stay Ss focused, each lesson should allow us to get a little better the next time around. Stay nimble and adjust even when things go south. #122edchat
A4: Internet connectivity issues are a plague. You have a fantastic lesson developed, and then the network crashes and you have to try something else. It is always good to have a back up plan. #122edchat
Q5: That feeling when you finally made it to Oregon (and weren't defeated by dysentery) was awesome! What is your most awesome technology win related to education? #122edchat
When I have a few minutes to breathe, yes, I'd love to help. However, I wouldl ove to have the students from 7th Grade come teach! How awesome would that be? I have several in Drama that would love to help. #122edchat

@MillerMathSMS, @scratch, @megan_hacholski
A4. When the wifi didn't connect inside the school and was down or running extremely slow! It took forever to get Ss connected to technology to work n projects!#122edchat
All the times? Is that an answer?
It almost never goes exactly as you plan it. Making 3D Bohr models with my kids, realized I had to make changes in the project. #122EdChat
Q4: No matter how many times the alligator eats you in Pitfall, you always have the opportunity to go back and try again. What would be a time you tried to implement technology in the classroom and it didn’t go as planned? #122edchat
A5: One of my biggest wins has been the integration of @scratch in so many different ways. We've used it to explain our understanding of Punnett Squares, discuss serious character ed topics, and build relationships with our Life Skills students. #122edchat
A5: Had a student in special education work really hard on a video project and it came out absolutely incredible! Probably the best one in the grade! #122edchat
A5: Teaching Ss (+ Ts) about the power of coding using @scratch + @koduteam. Seeing their faces when they create and control something is so rewarding. Stepping out of their comfort zone to try something new and finding success...I love getting to share in this moment. #122edchat
A5 First of all, dysentery was always my goal! Having students read, take a quiz, write and essay, and watch a video clip while taking notes using Google Classroom without ever leaving the main page! #122edchat
Q5: That feeling when you finally made it to Oregon (and weren't defeated by dysentery) was awesome! What is your most awesome technology win related to education? #122edchat
A.4 Or the time the wi-fi died in our section of the hall just as I launched a Socrative. And the tech person was out sick. Ss ended up in the hall and doorway to catch the wifi down the hall. We made it work #122edchat
Q3: hey! @ryanorilio ! Help me out on this one, please! You know I use tech more and more, but I need to work on verbalizing it! 😁 #122EdChat ps, mr. o- you would like this tech chat.
Q3: The goal of Tetris was to take pieces that didn't fit together and join them to make them a whole. How can we as educators effectively combine instruction with technology to make them one in the same rather than two separate entities? #122edchat
Q5 #googleexpeditions .....it has been one of the greatest investments we made to enhance learning. Of course we now look at it and continue to wonder how long it will remain relevant but we will keep pushing! #122edchat
A4: When I got the TV for the hallway to display pics, Twitter Feed, etc. I had an idea of how it would work, but I had to move to plan B. So I guess the lesson was take the time to research to see what the tool can and can't do. #122edchat

I'm still dealing with a 4th grade shared laptop cart - which I currently haven't had for 2 weeks because of state testing. Definitely limits the tech for Ss! #122edchat
A5: My greatest technology wins are the same as my greatest teaching wins. They come when Ss or Ts that didn't understand something or think it possible, breakthrough, and astonish even themselves with what they've created.
#122edchat
Thank you @MrWawczak and @MrsKramerD123 for taking the lead this evening for #122edchat! Chatting with you all was more fun than watching Lion King twice today!
A5: My current S Genius Hour Project using @wevideo is my favorite project! My S is singing in her own music video and we included Ts and Ss from outside our classroom singing and dancing with my S! @megan_hacholski and @_on11 make and appearance too! #122edchat
A5-Everyday is a win for me. Using one on one devices was a huge win for me. Working daily with students and seeing the world that Tech opens up to them is a gigantic win!! #122edchat
A5 using all the student work and projects for their portfolios. Saved the earth by not printing out so many stuff and I made PTCs very personal #122edchat
That leap into 1:1 is a scary one, but very transformational. We have seen so much progression of how we approach tech in the past several years. #122edchat
A1) At first I was very nervous going 1 to 1 but I have really learned to adapt my teaching and expand it with tech tools that push what I would do on paper to another level either connecting with others or expanding on what we do #122edchat
A5 - I’d probably say a combination of teaching PD to others and using Google in the classroom. Both really important for different reasons. #122edchat
A5: One of my biggest wins has been the integration of @scratch in so many different ways. We've used it to explain our understanding of Punnett Squares, discuss serious character ed topics, and build relationships with our Life Skills students. #122edchat
A5: My most awesome win would be sharing @seesaw with a teacher on my team and receiving an email from her that she loved it and so did our students. A Ss came up to me afterwards to thank me for showing them that website. #122edchat
Hope to see many of my #122edchat friends in #waledchat tomorrow for our end of month reflection on wins and losses! Hope to see you there at 9pm ET! Here are the Q's! https://t.co/ZnAGAfOwAU
A1: I think that technology has shown me that growth is not a one time thing. It is an ever-changing always happening event. Once you accept that, it opens you up to so many more possibilities #122edchat
A5: My Ss weren't as engaged as I wanted when I was out for the day. I recorded myself with directions and discussion points, put them into Google Classroom, and gave any assignments needed in there as well. Had everything they needed #122edchat
Q5: That feeling when you finally made it to Oregon (and weren't defeated by dysentery) was awesome! What is your most awesome technology win related to education? #122edchat
Q4: No matter how many times the alligator eats you in Pitfall, you always have the opportunity to go back and try again. What would be a time you tried to implement technology in the classroom and it didn’t go as planned? #122edchat
A4: The first time I tried the Smart clickers, Senteos, it didn't pair with the board and the class voting like poll the audience on Millionaire was a huge busy! #122edchat
Q5: That feeling when you finally made it to Oregon (and weren't defeated by dysentery) was awesome! What is your most awesome technology win related to education? #122edchat
Got to figure out how to focus on a twitter chat when my texts are going nuts, dog needs to go outside and mom calls! UGH . Have a good night everyone #122edchat
A2: I am embarking on a new journey as an ITS (instructional technology specialist) in my district next year so my goal isn't one tool or idea but to learn and adapt to my new role (and perhaps get to play with #googleexpeditions more) #122edchat
Thank you all for an amazing chat but just like when Pac Man is finally caught, it is that time for us to end! Have a fantastic week everyone! #122edchat
A5 Anytime a student or teacher thanks me for making something possible with tech that they hadn't done before. Opens up a whole new world for them. Also anytime they mention something I had completely forgotten about. Then I know it made an impact. #122edchat
Q5: That feeling when you finally made it to Oregon (and weren't defeated by dysentery) was awesome! What is your most awesome technology win related to education? #122edchat
A5: even tho my hubby is a "Senior Network Systems Administrator" for 16 counties for his department, I am still a tech n00b. So far my biggest tech "win" is getting the hang of Twitter chats and expanding my PLN so quickly this year. So much I've learned! #122edchat
Q5: That feeling when you finally made it to Oregon (and weren't defeated by dysentery) was awesome! What is your most awesome technology win related to education? #122edchat
A5: Worked with the tech teacher to send Ss on a scavenger hunt through the school with secret passwords and symbols to kick off our #AnimalFarm unit! #122edchat
A3: start with the end in mind. If you have a goal and make sure all your tech and lessons are teared towards that goal, it will automatically begin 2 meld them. ALSO do not just use a tool to use a tool - make sure it ENHANCES the learning and you will b good 2 go #122edchat
A5) This year I used Twitter to connect my class with the outside world and we got retweeted and responded to! I loved using Flipgrid this year to really do some different things with presentations! #122edchat
Loved the classic video game theme in #122edchat tonight! Hope to expand my horizons in ed-tech in the months to come, and I know this PLN can help me do it!!
Thank you all for an amazing chat but just like when Pac Man is finally caught, it is that time for us to end! Have a fantastic week everyone! #122edchat
Windows does this at every presentation....the swap devices constantly. They know it will happen but people still mock them for it. FAIL still is First Attempt in Learning #122edchat

@supervxn, @LITLessons1, @BillGates, @Windows
A4: the first time I used @Flipgrid I locked my grid and forgot the code when my kids tried to access lol
Took me a good 10 min to figure out why they had a lock on their screen
Lesson learned and kids saw that even teachers have a learning curve #122edchat
Thank you all for an amazing chat but just like when Pac Man is finally caught, it is that time for us to end! Have a fantastic week everyone! #122edchat
OOPS. I am exhausted. Posted my answer to question 3 on your reply. Sigh. We are a 1:1 school, so it is easy to look for sites that help kids get additional practice on skills and post to LMS. #122edchat
Q5: That feeling when you finally made it to Oregon (and weren't defeated by dysentery) was awesome! What is your most awesome technology win related to education? #122edchat
A5: LOVE OREGON TRAIL!!
My biggest win lately was when a kiddo told me that they like when I use @goguardian because it makes them feel like I am there even when I am not 😊 (I have been jumping on every now and then during maternity leave to say hi) #122edchat
A5. Introduced my cooperating teacher to @edpuzzle today! Look forward to helping her learn all about it and hopefully I can help incorporate it in her classroom! #122edchat
A4. When the wifi didn't connect inside the school and was down or running extremely slow! It took forever to get Ss connected to technology to work n projects!#122edchat
A2: its more pedagogical, but I want to delve deep into UDL and inquiry based learning. As far as tech is concerned I like to jump into lots of new but really want to become proficient at #python#122edchat
It is that time of the month...#SRLedChat is coming back next Sunday, May 6th at 7PM Central Time. Please join me as we discuss preparing for the end of the school year. @SecondaryRead
A3: I think of it like this: I will work the pieces around and make a fit. If they don’t fit, eventually something will happen in the stack that allows them to click together! #122edchat
Thank you all for an amazing chat but just like when Pac Man is finally caught, it is that time for us to end! Have a fantastic week everyone! #122edchat
I want my students to learn more about oral communication skills by making mini videos & recording themselves giving a speech, and possibly editing it with WeVideo or something like that. #122edchat
A4: I just played Pitfall last week. So, this happens often. Just last week I did a variation of @quizlet live called Quizlet Quarterback. It took a few reps before the Ss got the hang of it. Failure and mess will happen but we pick up and keep moving forward #122edchat
A2: want my students to learn more about oral communication skills by making mini videos & recording themselves giving a speech, and possibly editing it with WeVideo or something like that. #122edchat
A5: the student led podcast “tech tips with tech squad.” Today we talked SAMR w @sdemichele and in the interview debrief we talked Redefintion and the students said they are redefining by writing their own lesson plans for each podcast. Boom. #122edchat
#122edchat

My attitude towards technology has changed with the progression of this school year in a positive light. I allowed technology to intimidate me but now I am taking it by the horns by learning with my students and asking my @HelenWilt@Mrscturner and others for hlp

The best technology win ever was finding number crunchers to share with my kiddos. They loved it and it threw me back to the 80s. My love.
