You know it is quality PD when you CANNOT WAIT to integrate what has been learned/shared into your classroom!

So glad you say this and I totally agree, yet for many the evidence is not enough and for others it is ignored. There is much we do in education, like homework practice, which is not supported by the research but this research is ignored. #satchat

I often wish we had " PD reunions" 6 months later. Did u implement anything? How did it go? What modifications did u make? It shouldn't be a one shot deal #satchat
A2: PD that addresses a real, on the ground issue at my school or with my students. PD that moves solution/policy FORWARD. PD that is aligned with a strategic plan and based on research, not admin whim. #satchat

I agree and that is what is often missing in our professional practice, too much happening and cannot focus on the things that are directly tied to increased learning. #satchat

A3 #whatif we started w a 2x2 plot: easy to implement to challenging; quick to impact to long game; identify as staff & create 4 consecutive pathways: immediate & easy, long term & challenge etc #satchat
A4: Time on task. It can't be shoehorned in or tacked on to a laundry list of tasks. Collaboration is creative and ITERATIVE. Respect the time and energy required to do that. #satchat

For me this is where embedded formative assessment comes into play. Assessment to inform the teacher what works, and the student if they have learned and provides a platform to improve both. #satchat
A3: let Ts choose the area of pd they need for their classroom reality. I seek out the topics that challenge/interest me and fill the gaps in my teaching practice. #satchat
And that's a problem; too many folks leaving out the #empathy when exploring creative problem solving & project based learning & calling it #designthinking; it's inaccurate; PBL is great, DT is a powerful mindset to apply to PBL #satchat#dtk12chat
I did not ask for access to 280 it was a gift bestowed on me, but people sure notice. It does allow for a lack of discipline from being concise and increases the typo count. #satchat

Usually when I present there is an in depth evaluation piece which has the same impact as a Danielson eval. Usually good but can have some tough elements. #satchat

A5- my school just put up a brief story of PD I attended on our school website. Helps the community know how we are improving our craft as well #satchat

Agreed! No matter how great the speaker, I'm often doodling in my notebook or thinking of the lessons I have to write, papers I have to grade, who will win game 7, etc #satchat

A6: it happens to be Stretegic Plan writing time. My "professional thinking" this year is focused on critical analysis of what we're doing now, where we (school) want to be, and identifying resources/training/pathway needed to connect those two points #satchat

"Own time & dime" is the story of every teacher's life. If the Q is about how to "recognize & support", then $$ are welcome. Nobody can give me more hours in the day (tho, I'd take it). Teachers are professionals. Let's don't shame them for wanting to be paid for working #satchat
