Happy Friday #bfc530 ... we are in a "Deep Freeze" here ... our last day of school before the Thanksgiving break will be spent treating frostbite on our Florida children who will think it is "cold" enough to freeze to death. LOL (There is sarcasm added to this tweet)
I like November in grade 3; you totally work so very hard in Sept and Oct and all 4 years I have taught grade 3, it is in November that you get to see the fruits of your labor. #bfc530

Good morning! No exciting weather to report here, although the rumor is that it will stop raining, which is exciting. It’s been over a week since I could ride my horse and I’m getting antsy 😝. Tomorrow I go home for the week 🇬🇧I will have less focus than the kids today #bfc530
One accomplishment for me is that I’m almost a year and a half into teaching Kindergarten at year 29. If you would have asked me 10 years ago if I’d be ending my career as a K teacher, I would not have imagined it! 😊😊😊💕💕💕 #bfc530

Our WE club celebrated at WE Day Ottawa this week. It was incredible. The hosts started the day by asking the crowd: “Who’s ready to change the world this morning??” Imagine if all kids started their days so inspired! #bfc530#wedayottawa@metowe

I'm very proud of our efforts to help Ss develop leadership skills. A S created an ultimate frisbee team last year & this year put together an incredible tournament with 6 other schools. She led the entire thing. It was amazing! #bfc530

I often push through to the next thing and fail to celebrate but just this week I celebrated our Personalized Professional Learning with the team who has planned this opportunity. Teachers choose who they work with and what they want to learn over the course of 6 months #bfc530
I think, as educators, we need to celebrate those break through moments with the kids, in all the everyday noise it is easy to focus on what the kids are not doing/learning and we miss the individual kid who on any given day has an individual breakthrough #bfc530

I also need to stop and give myself credit and celebrate all the work I’ve been doing - last term of grad school, action research & internship, new job, working with teams from 25 schools, and more! I often see all the work ahead or what is left to complete vs celebrating #bfc530

Thank you Kathy💗 I recently read a book that said when you teach in a school with high poverty - it will bring out all your weaknesses as a teacher- it's that hard. That was very true. I felt like such a failure. And I still have guilt for leaving...#bfc530

I present examples of perseverance through texts. I connect opportunities for students to persevere, as they arise in class, by referencing texts. Perseverance themed texts I use are: I Will Try & The Little Engine That Could. See photos of these & other books below. #bfc530
One of my goals this year was to teach HS Ss empathy by going to our neighboring grade school and helping elementary Ss with math. It’s been a success so far. #bfc530
