Have a couple minutes to give our #DigCit student blogs feedback on the results of us Googling ourselves? Thank you! Please RT. https://t.co/KrEbQ144Kj#txed
Howdy everyone! Welcome to #TXed Chat! Tonight we talk about technology and how it can actually help you as an educator! Please take the next few minutes to introduce yourself and tell us where you are from.
Lori Reyes from @AltonElementary here in Brenham, TX multitasking-grad clss homework, getting ready for tomorrow, reflecting on how can I make tomorrow better with my kiddos #txed
Hello everyone, My is Heath and I am currently education student at UT Tyler. My current major is English with a minor in Education. I live in outside Big Sandy/Hawkins area. My hometown in Van Texas. #txed, #edfb4338
A1 Google Drive has all the google apps, extensions, and tools have allowed me and my students to be organized and successful. Hello organization too. #txed
A1: I was just telling a colleague today that Twitter changed my career. It’s not the app, it’s the network of passionate educators. And @Flipgrid just changed my whole life lol being able to use (accountable) language in our instructional cycle is so valuable #TXed
The use of technology is an easy way to connect with students of all learning styles. However, when technology fails, good teaching doesn’t. #victorsaldana#txed
#TXed A1- as a middle school ELAR teacher, tech helped me w/workflow, feedback for Ss, & more. Google Docs saved me from taking 174 literary analysis essays home to grade!!! Google Calendar to post LPs for Ss & Ps. I could continue
#txed A1 I use technology to create AMAZING lessons and tutorials posted on my YouTube channel. Here is an example... An Algebra I STAAR Review quiz from the Mall of America Aquarium. https://t.co/7Q1LvxMVfU
A1-it has helped me teach content in different way and even have Ss turn in assignments. @Flipgrid is one way you can communicate with your Ss @Seesaw is great too #txed
A1 flipgrid was used with our Eng dept this week to showcase what books other Ts and Admins read. Edpuzzle is great way to get lessons to students. #txed
A1: There are so many amazing tech tools that help me be more productive!!! Love me some google keep, google apps to be productive with my team, Canva for branding, twitter for great ideas #txed
A1: Tech has helped me connect with other amazing educators as well as given me a way to share with our community all of the awesome things happening @WarnerCFISD#TXed
OMG.... Did I just make it back to a #txed Twitter chat!?!?!?!? How I've missed you all. Let the GIF's begin.
Tom Spall, 5th year ITS from @BrenhamISD... 11th year in Education. Collaborator for @BISDwiredTeam and @FRESHthoughtEDU .... Current Pres of @Techs4Tex! Let's go!
A1 my organization is held at my fingertips or on my Chromebook . I’m always looking for ways kids can create with technology instead of simply consuming it! #txed
A1 I cannot teach without tech! It helps me communicate better, helps students collaborate more, is engaging, and it is the students native platform. Plus less filing cabinets.hah! #txed
So excited to dig into EdPuzzle (my October goal). Just today I saw BrainPop, Kid President and even School House Rock being played whole group. Would love to see them on an individualized level getting Ss feedback. #txed
A2: @nearpodis my new best friend. I ❤️ the options I’m given while planning and implementing lessons! My sts ❤️ it! Can you say 💯% engaged!? Use with I-pad, laptop, cellular device! #txed
#txed A2 I use a @surface tablet linked to a wireless display adapter exclusively now when I teach. I am not tethered to the front board, and the ability to put the tablet on the desk of a student and have them problem solve, or take a pic of work and discuss #GameChanger
A2: Collaboratively speaking, I love how Google Docs can easily link videos, insert pictures of anchor charts or PDFs from doc cameras. I have loved moving to team Google Classrooms where all of that is shared in the stream and in the classwork topics. #TXed
Q2: Preso tools or "Digital Houses": Google Preso, G. Drawing, NearPod, PearDeck, Google Sites, Gynzy, ClassroomScreen, Smart Notebook (underused and underrated), Google Keep, G. Docs, and especially my G. Drive and Google Classroom and it's wonderful organization #txed
Yes, I’m obsessed! As I’m planning for next week I’m even writing what skills could be easily assessed on a HyperDoc for valuable feedback to the teacher. #txed Love the idea of unit-based HDs too to supplement instruction w/ additional practice.
Same, except I just made a 5e lesson plan Google docs template that has Bitmojis to make it more exciting! Plus voice text and hyperlinks to all my things I need! #iamanerd#bitmojilove#bitmoji#txed
A2: Part2: Google Calendar & Classroom has been instrumental when planning, especially with my team! We can all work on planning together simultaneously! Also Google Classroom works well with @nearpod and @quizizz#txed
Yes! Constant battle moving from consumption to utilizing the 4 C's. Creativity, Communication, Critical Thinking Skills, and Collaboration. Our students HAVE a full G-Suite at their fingertips (DAILY). The power of @GoogleForEdu is mind-blowing... when used w/ purpose. #txed
A2: I enjoyed learning about @PearDeck this summer at Brenham U from @mccorklegeo. Excellent tool to keep students engaged while teaching important concepts/skills! #TXed
A3: I’m going to go a different route and share how effective setting shared Outlook calendars (or google calendars) for coaching conversations. It allows easy check-in appts and reoccurrences. Great for communicating action items and look goes. And accountability for TTESS!#TXed
Come to Brenham.... ASAP... I'll spend a whole afternoon training you, friend! It's AMAZING when used with purpose. All the work is on the front end.... when complete.... it's the students that reap the rewards of SmartNotebook. #txed
A2: As a student teacher it has helped many is so many ways. Has made my lesson plan easier, kept me in touch with other teachers and facility on issues of importance. #txed, #edfb4338
A3: I love #voxer for chatting with other teachers! Especially if I’m chatting with another teacher Who doesn’t have the same planning. @MollyRedner is one of my favorite people to harass this way! #TXed
A3: student to student I love #FlipgridFever and #Seesaw and teacher to student my go to is #GoogleClassroom 😬 it may be a lot but I love it, and it gives for everyone to communicatein various ways #TXed
#txed A3- T2T I use @Schoology & #GoogleEdu tools. Also Webex to meet virtually. S2S- we encourage both #GoogleEdu & Office 365 tools. T2S- we use mostly GSuite tools and our LMS (Schoology)
A4: For me, setting up a progress monitoring tracker for the entire school was essential. Having a place to record our SIT notes, updates, longitudinal assessment data and more helped us look at the whole child and give a range of info on the child for his/her Ts #TXed
#TxEd A4- I’m all over leveraging tech tools to facilitate the principles of #UDL. It is my eternal soapbox. Think of it as designing to the edges so you don’t have to retrofit through remediation or interventions. It’s differentiation in advance instead of as an afterthought.
A4b: Using collaborative G-Suite tools makes interventions mean something. Without progress monitoring, interventions may not be effective. Having everyone on the same page with clearly outlined goals for Ss maximizes the impact of interventions. #txed
A4: Tools I teach my students to use for accessing and using notes and lessons in their classes: Kami and Extensions on Chrome such as “select and speak”#TXed
#txed A4 I create most of the curriculum my Ss use each year to fit what they need to learn. While doing this I do differentiate for students. #AlwaysBelieve
A4: So using @nearpod (I promise I don’t work for them!!) allows students to self pace their lessons while you watch their progress. You can even interject quick checks that show up on their device during an already created lesson. It’s amazing #txed
A4: #txed Glad you asked this question! I create Digital Menus for my students! Here is a "Fortnite Menu For Student Creation" I just created: https://t.co/AxhifRAx0T
Students need and want VOICE and CHOICE! #fortnite
Enjoy!
A4: reading to a ss for a test by videoing yourself. Freeing you to still help other ss, allowing my ss be the ones who direct the lessons. I don’t say, “great! You learned what I wanted you to learn! I’m done.” I just sit back and am amazed at how much further they go #TXed
#TXed A5 - Jim, joining late. Sound like a broken record, but I have really enjoyed starting my podcast. I have published 70 short episodes. The possibilities with kids in class are endless.
A5 We use our hashtag to share our ideas and work on twitter and Facebook. We utilize our announcements to highlight student successes and are proud to share. #txed
Google classroom and seesaw can help with that. It also allows other students to comment and respond to other students work. It’s a great way to share writing, book reports, book recommendations etc. #txed

#TXed A4 - Google Keep has gotten my attention. Look at it as a great way to reach all kids. The speech to text option is impressive. Think about reluctant writers dictating that rough first draft. That’s just one tool.

#txed@sway is a great resource for Ss to publish a great project. Attached find a picture of student work in creating a trig problem. When you let Ss CREATE problems the learning goes to a new level.
A5: I use #Seesaw but would love other options!! The ss love to show off their work, and if they know you’re sharing it they will try twice as hard! #TXed
#txed A6 I would LOVE to teach to a class of Ss with @surface tablets. Witht he inking ability the whole class would be paperless with assignments stored in a class @msonenote
A6-I would like for my student to be to use flipgrid and not be bashful with it. I would like to incorporate some flipped classroom lessons as well. #txed
A6: Minimal paper use! I’d ❤️ to engage ALL my sts and parents using technology. I might be an over communicator, but I enjoy engaging with my sts and their families! #txed
Senator Rand Paul's initiative to remove Russia sanctions was defeated resoundingly 20 to 1 at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today. One has to question the timing of this effort shortly after he returned from Moscow. https://t.co/36MiOzEq03
#TXed A6 - End the perception that technology and relationships are two ends of a spectrum. They aren’t. Use technology to build and foster relationships.
A6: I want to have a student sharing the awesome things going on in class! I want to have ss say, “This is amazing! Share this!” And then they take the picture on their #chromebook and send it to me so I can share it #TXed
A5: @Seesaw is my absolute favorite for primary classrooms! The SS get so excited to publish their work for others to see. Often they catch mistakes as they are recording, learn from them, and make it even better! #txed
I once read that if a project could be done with pencil and paper but you’re doing it on a computer or device, it’s not transforming your classroom #txed
Have you tried @Seesaw ? It’s an online portfolio where students can share work with you, classmates, and parents. They can even comment and give each other feedback! #TXed
A3:T to T: google docs (we collaborate on our lessons together and everyone can see, comment, share.)
S to S: seesaw! I can’t say enough great things about this app!
T to S: I comment and give feedback on student’s posts on seesaw! They love getting comments from their T! #TXed
@GorbetKristine look how many people you are following. #victorism it’s not about how many followers I have. Its about who i follow and I’m learning and growing from. #txed
