James from Batom Rouge, LA. Not sure of what I would like to see in #3D, but do know I want to make #3Dcapture more accessible to the masses! #ARVRinEDU
A1 - I’m also using our @Makerbot Digitizer. It, too, it tricky producing a crisp rendering. Lighting seems to be an important factor that I haven’t quite figured out. #3D#ARVRinEDU
We bought the iOS mount and sensor, but sent it back after poor tracking. Tried the tethered unit (Ian to workstation) and was nominally better. Really like the idea of mobile #3d scanning, but doesn’t seem like the tech is quite there. #arvrinedu
Been tinkering w Tinkercad exports in CoSpaces too. Any idea why some come in perfect, others stripped of colors, and some only partial? Brought in an airplane the other day but it came in upside down...trickier to code. #ARVRinEDU

Are they objects in Tinkercad you created or got from the community? Some of the ones from the community are imported having different vectoring and can come out weird when you export from Tinkercad. I just build from scratch and all seems to work well. #arvrinedu

Ah ha! That would be why. They are from the community. Maybe I'll stick to building from scratch and rely on possibly getting lucky on a few premade. Thanks, James.#arvrinedu

The world of STL, OBJ, and DAE files is bizarre. The rule of thumb is even though they may have the same extension, each compiler uses proprietary “versions” of the extensions and they can get weird from program to program. #arvrinedu

That looks great. I love seeing all the resources coming out for everything, but also don’t want to lose the art of creating these on our own! #ARVRinEDU

I am learning that. Had trouble bringing in Autodesk Inventor DAE files into an OpenSim virtual world. This was likely why. Good to know. VR amateur over here! #arvrinedu
