THX for Joining us tonight! Please introduce yourself and share one bright spot from today! Be sure to include #wearewayne at the end of all your responses!
As standard, I will indicate the question number so start your response with A# that corresponds to the question
Our lives in/out of the classroom are complex-rich with frustrations and celebrations.
Q1: How do you take care of yourself with those many demands? #wearewayne
A1: Time with family. Daily morning work out. Healthy eating habits. Daily meditation practice. It takes a disciplined life of healthy habits. #WeAreWayne
A1. I try to prioritize time with family and friends as well as time alone to recharge (introvert here!). I also try to stay in the moment with the kiddos to really enjoy the different personalities throughout the day. #wearewayne
A2. I have an extremely long group text with my 3 BFFs from college- we all live in different cities, but will check in regularly for support or encouragement when needed. It’s a great way to feel connected across the miles. #wearewayne
A3. You know what works for you. Try to think of what works in your self care plan, and see if you can incorporate something similar into your self control plan at work. #wearewayne
I draw from meditation practice and many spiritual disciplines to guide my self control plan. Staying in control allows for self care to happen. Spiritual Growth allows for Self Control which allows for Self Care. #WeAreWayne
Thanks for all the great participation!
Q4: How seriously would your scholars/colleagues say you take your Self Care Plan? How can they tell? (out of the mouths of babes!) #wearewayne
A4 Those that really know me can tell, but I'm not sure those who don't could see it, which is the way I want it. But it is good for them to know we all have struggles. Every one of us. #wearewayne
A4: I know my family knows I take my Self Care seriously because I head to bed EARLY! I think that I need to be more purposeful in talking about this with my staff and students because it is valuable for them too! #wearewayne
A4. “Wow Ms Kirkham, you look really stressed!” is a good indication for me ;) While I wish I looked cool, calm, and collected when anxious, this is a good reminder to regain control or ask for help if needed (esp in the lunch room!) #wearewayne
I agree. You are always so positive but after working closely with you I could begin to tell when things were taking a toll! But it never impeded you from sharing how great LHC and Wayne is for scholars and staff! #wearewayne
