A1: More visualisers. Seen a massive impact already across some areas of school for modelling clearly, and allowing repeated reviews of models by students #caschat
A1 - I really want us to invest in AI to support our growing numbers of SEND in the school. It could be really powerful for some of our learners to develop their communication skills #caschat
#caschat a1 remote keyboard and remote mouse. Enabled anyone in class to interact with the screen, passing the token around. And enabled me to demonstrate on- screen from anywhere in the classroom
How would you engage students with it? We find that its hard to get a wide range of students accessing it and using it effectively (after getting the bleeding thing working). High cost Low impact? #caschat
#caschat A2 versatility, ease of use, range of applications. Crumble and @codebug so immediate and appealing as are @sphero and Lego WeDO and the fact they link with @scratch
#caschat A2. Something that is easy to use, but also adaptable. So it can be used in a few different ways. As the children/teachers develop it won't be left in the dust. (micro:bit, crumble)
#caschat A2: cost effective, buying sets of it providing value for money. Good quality support materials for those who dont feel confident teaching about it.
It's something different. It combines hands on algorithm creation with a EYFS friendly package. It links cause and effect in the simplest of ways. #caschat BTW Pleasure re BETT.

A2: High impact, low cost. It has to be able to make a difference for a large number of students. Needs to be easy to implement into curriculum time #caschat
#caschat - there was some training in london recently on this, which i'm told was awesome. Me i've never been that excited by them but happy to be convinced. Always feels like an add on. #makeymakey
#caschat Stuff I build with mostly myself. I'm not so interested in teaching to then change platform to @arduino or @Raspberry_Pi which are what industry uses. My secondary kids can get jobs off those builds.
#caschat A2: Something that can be used across the primary age groups and allows for collaboration and tinkering. Maybe some Guided Tinkering for #EYFS
Don't get me wrong. It is a GREAT bit of kit. I would love one of them and a kubo robot. But I buy them myself to use in school. Just out of my price range. #caschat

I am constantly quoted as saying #TechIsAToolNotTHETool at school. You wouldn't eat a yogurt with a fork, so why teach a lesson with tech if it has a negative impact #caschat

I think significant time should be set aside for ensuring that leaders are able to coach/develop T&L. If we improve leaders ability to continuously focus on improving T&L then appraisal impact will improve as a result? #caschat
A3) Need to replace some ageing MS Surface tablets - I took a good look around Bett at different options. Got to say chromebooks look like a good option #caschat
#caschat A3 Be a 3d printer I bet and support I was literally talking tonight with @AutodeskEDU at @PrintCityMMU launch event. They have a free platform for it loads of support there.
A3 - The biggest spend is coming with moving old interactive boards to new touchscreens. We've got Key Stage One left to do, but it's a big investment #caschat
FYI - We're planning an event where kids can develop a project using some #edtech to show off to other children and then get a chance to use tools not in their school. Buying isn't always the answer! #caschat

but actually think that leaders should have an understanding of the impact of tech as a tool in the classroom as well and change management so at first read though it fitted with the #caschat
We've done this as a 'Web Lab' over several years. We pull all the projects across the school into one space and get Digital Leaders to run the stations for all the children in the school. It's so effective. #caschat

That sounds cool, would be interested in hearing more. I have a plan.. Inspired by @MrHeadComputing to buy a few devices which then chldren will explore over a few sessions and then create challanges for others to try. #caschat

Love that other educators talk about change management - we have to accept that we must continuously improve what we're doing to continue improving outcomes for ourselves and young people. My favourite quote is "What got us here, won't get us there" #caschat#debatED

You could try a windows tablet wirelessly projecting to a regular whiteboard via miracast. With a pen you can then pass round the class giving the same interactivity for a fraction of the cost of a whiteboard. #caschat
Most tech can be repurposed... lots online. We're currently planning to build video wall from old comp monitors with @SparkPenketh as part of physics #drone build #caschat

First 2 years of 1:1 rollout had Acer R11s (I still use one now). Current rollouts using Lenovo Yogas.

Totally :) We're stripping out old Uni discarded PCs for motors etc and using shells to build a massive StarWars set to fly our scratch built drones in lol ) #caschat

A4: I really want outside agencies to be prepared to understand the impact on education. This should be the first priority.
Understand however that for some (profit making firms) this is not the aim.

A4) Impartial support that gives advice based on knowledge and need. Too many schools are swayed by flashy sales demos or someone spending large amounts of money with limited experience. #caschat
We're helping schools with group purchasing of chromebooks. Trying to create some economies of scale to replace the LEAs! Would you be interested in finding out more? #caschat

#caschat A4: It needs mapping to the curriculum. Hense @SparkPenketh which we are open sourcing our guides from. It's not built into every subject and it should be if we want to be serious about the #digitalskills gap.
A4 - Agencies just need to listen. The technology may be the same to them, but each setting is completely different and needs a personal touch #caschat
All of the above. Also a willingness to accept where a firm's product may not be the right thing. It bugs me when a firm is so blindly convinced that their product/solution is the only option. #caschat

#caschat - some kit just isn't for some schools, i would never suggest buying crumbles for example to a school that still hasn't got to grips with screen based programming, the physical is only adding complexity and confusion in that case.

Yes ! I think it's so important to think about the mapping first and not just buying the equipment and trying to fit it in to the curriculum, there needs to be a need first #caschat

Yep.. true we start KS1 children off with physical using things like beebots. I suppose it is more the complexity it introduces to staff/children with electronics combined with the inexperience with block based coding. #caschat

All the core pupil computers in our school are "rescued" from the skip. They are slow and (arguably) workable. We have some really old laptops running chromixium. Not the best way to deliver the curriculum though. #caschat

I had crumblebots and edison in mind when I replied - no electronics intially just block based programming of a physical machine. Arguably a progression from BeeBots. #caschat
