A1 I am not a fan of berating other teachers for having differing opinions or styles. You can disagree, but don't go out bashing. Also, teachers that complain a lot about their situation. (I do it some times too, but I try really hard to keep it light) #moedchat
A1: Educationist about begging, borrowing and stealing. But it should also be about crediting. When you b,b, or s a lesson or idea off SM we should credit the innovator. #moedchat
A1) I also really dislike how some educators never apologize when they tweet something stupid. It isn't enough to delete the tweet. Own the mistake, you know, like you would expect your students to. #moedchat
It can be uncomfortable to put themselves out there, particularly if they are not from the SM generations. However, it is worth it all the way #moedchat
When an "expert" jumps into a chat and starts telling people they are wrong and they are doing it wrong. I don't think that is being productive. People have different backgrounds and don't always understand the WHY of new trends, better to explain than to criticize #moedchat
A1) Let's get real... I'm disappointed that SM has become a billboard. What happened to having real conversations and supporting one another? #moedchat
A1: What is there to dislike??? Social media is a great tool and resource for educators. Certainly we all can do a better job of not only helping one another grow, but also to spend more time praising kids and highlighting the positive things going on in our buildings! #MOedchat
Love this! Megaphone vs party line. Never thought of it this way, but agree. Megaphones don't build community or encourage dialogue. Party lines are interactive. #moedchat

A2: Jack of all trades but master of none. We should keep current bc our Ss will use the newest. But mastering a few SMs and using them effectively is better than being bad at all of them. #moedchat
Or when 'experts' make overly generalized statements which, if viewed from another perspective are actually shaming Ts for not thinking the way they do. Then, they won't engage in a conversation about it. #moedchat
TA2) he problem with the bandwagon is it never slows. Nobody wanting to jump on has time to think critically about how it affects our classroom. Jump or lose out on that precious certification or ambassadorship. #moedchat
A1 I know it's the pot calling the kettle black, but I find teachers complaining about how busy they are annoying, too. Show us an educator who isn't busy. #moedchat

Yes, putting something out there as if it was your idea when it wasn't is just dishonest and unprofessional. It definitely sends the wrong message to Ss. #moedchat
A2) Also, does every edtech tool ever made need a freaking ambassador? I am pretty sure we got along just fine without them before. How about you just call yourself a consultant instead. #moedchat
A2: I LOVE that our teachers share all of the amazing things happening in their classrooms & around the school! We are currently doing a #CTKindness challenge to spread positive school culture and it’s awesome! #moedchat
Q2 — agree with it not always being best practices 🤔 for example all the new “digital tools” which are just still digitized worksheets 👎🏻 I’m a bi believer in Creation Over Consumption 💡 #moedchat

A2: some issues that can occur is Ts trying to be perfect and do too much to make it look like they have it together instead of sharing their true feelings and struggles. #moedchat
Great point! Always give credit! We all benefit from those educators who share their ideas on SM freely. Given them credit! Tag them when you share something they inspired! Everyone likes to see the fruits of their labor (and sharing)! #moedchat
A1: Educationist about begging, borrowing and stealing. But it should also be about crediting. When you b,b, or s a lesson or idea off SM we should credit the innovator. #moedchat
A1: The challenge with SM by Ts is that it often stays so surface level and feels like everything has to be super! If I had a challenge I would like help with I'm not sure I'd get the support I need. Although I would DM people I respect privately. #moedchat
A3: this is such a great question. Are we creating this through our evaluation systems and PD models in our districts. Are we killing creativity and discouraging risk taking? I have more questions than answers. #moedchat
Q2 — agree with it not always being best practices 🤔 for example all the new “digital tools” which are just still digitized worksheets 👎🏻 I’m a bi believer in Creation Over Consumption 💡 #moedchat
A3: focus on encouraging other Ts ideas and really thinking about if that idea would work in your class. What works for one might not for the other. Every Ts has their strengths and weaknesses. #moedchat
A3) Somehow advice on sm begins to sound like canon. I think we should all temper advice with common sense and experience. Just cause #edutwitter says it doesn't mean you have to do it. #moedchat
Our purpose is learning and growing together. Seeking new & exciting ideas around the world! That’s the beauty of social media! Positive vibes only #moedchat
A3) It starts by acknowledging what we do:
1 will not work for everyone
2 is geared to our aptitudes
3 is not under attack because some does it different
4 may not be as effective as what others do
#MOedchat
Social media is a GREAT way to build relationships with families and community members BUT educators must continually monitor the content their posting. All eyes are watching. Don’t post things you wouldn’t want your grandma to see 👀 #MoEdChat
A3: TRUST THE PROFESSIONALS. We’re all on the same team. Though we may be skeptical of new/diff styles at times, the important thing is to have an open mind, be supportive, and but provide genuine feedback when necessary. #MOedchat
Good point. Maybe reducing the “thou shall” and “all great teacher do this..” and just sharing our daily interactions and supporting each other instead #moedchat
A3. Honestly, I think our curriculum choices have a lot to do with this, esp in elem. Some are very well researched and respected (rightfully so) but are so scripted, they leave little room for each T’s personality, strengths, and styles. #moedchat
A3. Spend more time observing in other people’s classrooms 👀 not only to learn new ideas but to see how many diff ways can work 🙌🏼 and also get to know colleagues on a personal level 👥 Our 🌍just needs more ❤️ & 👂🏻 & acceptance #moedchat
A4 With regards to "shaming", I think we need to be careful. Too often pushback and criticism is viewed as shaming but in reality it's honesty. #moedchat
Passionate people draw others not because of their passion for a thing, but because of their passion for anything. Branding makes that passion kind of icky imo. #moedchat
A3 we have to embrace and encourage different teaching styles. Get teachers to be bold and to be true to their craft. Being real an authentic what we ask of our Ss so let’s ask this of our Ts. I preach this as an administrator. I don’t want subs glorified subs! #MOedchat
A4: live by the motto “if you do t have nothing nice to say them don’t say it at all” only share your positives of an idea or ask for clarification and reasoning if you disagree.#moedchat
A3: I think we have to realize “best practices” aren’t going to work for every teacher and situation. Our personalities are different, our school settings areas. I have felt forced into certain styles in the past. I am at my best when I can be myself. #moedchat
A4) I like to think that I am one of the people on the old BBC tv show Are You Being Served? and I think to myself 'How can I help you?' #cornybuttrue#moedchat
Agree, Andrea! SM and the my PLN has inspired me and enriched my career. I am constantly amazed by the generosity, wisdom and creativity of the people I follow and have in some cases built relationships with. #moedchat
A4 It starts with a culture of trust. Builds within teams and then spills out into the halls and becomes a building norm. Micro teaching starts to happen and then it’s normal for teachers to start observing one another and true data conversations start happening. #moedchat
A4. Be a developer 🙌🏼 a build-upper 🔨 an Illuminator 🔦 Tell people about their strengths, make them feel proud, help people see the strengths they can’t even see in themselves yet 🌞 #moedchat
Allocate time during PD and other inservice for relationship and team building. Making time for things like this and working to build a cohesive staff is never a bad thing! Strengthening these relationships strengthens building culture. #MOedchat
Q4 Ask as much or more than you offer. Shaming comes from a dismissive attitude about another’s work. If you think you can’t learn from someone you plan to share with, you are not collaborating you are condescending #MOedchat
If they are trusted with my most precious item, my child, I should be able to trust them to teach. Coach the ineffective ones but don’t hold back the rest #moedchat
Our field preaches collaboration, but we need to remember that teams are groups of INDIVIDUALS. It’s ok when team members do things their own way. You have to do what’s best for your class.Kids learn in many different ways; teachers teach in many different ways. #MOedChat
Sophie--love this, esp the illuminator. :)
Look for the good -- & importantly SAY what you SAW and how it impacted you, how it impacted others. #moedchat
A4: Understanding that we all ultimately have the same goals. Realizing everyone has something to contribute, even if it does not align with your own ideas. #MOedchat
Kind of genius of the companies to have people touting their products for FREE. They don't need to hire anyone to push their product. Not sure I have a problem with this. If the Ts get something out of it, and believe in the product. #moedchat
A2) Also, does every edtech tool ever made need a freaking ambassador? I am pretty sure we got along just fine without them before. How about you just call yourself a consultant instead. #moedchat
A5 Modeling. We need to remember that often it’s not the message, it’s the delivery. You may have great ideas to share, but if your approach comes off as talking down to people, they may tune you out. #moedchat
A5) We need to realize that school has always been competitive. We grade, give awards for kids and teachers who score well, promote winning classes for fund raisers. If we don't acknowledge it, we can't rise above it. #moedchat
A5 Model collaboration and show others the value in learning from others and how it can impact you and your Ss in a positive way. I find that data does it best! #MOedchat
A5: Being the change. Share openly. Give constructive feedback respectfully. Willingly try something out of your comfort zone. Show everyone it’s ok to try and fail and try again. Maybe then it won’t be about competition bc we’ll all be growing #moedchat
A5. I first taught in another state that was allllll about the test scores. Many Ts wouldn’t share ideas because they *had* to get the best scores. Focus on collective responsibility, emphasize these are ALL our kids. #moedchat
A3: Curriculum gives us “what” to teach, and individual teachers determine “how” to teach it. Students deserve equal access to quality curriculum, and teachers should be empowered to deliver the curriculum in a creative way. #moedchat
A badge for their website or free swag. Sometimes a free license. The problem really isn't the ambassadorship, it is the fomo that comes from being on #edutwitter driving us to them. :( #moedchat
A6 In reality, we will not change those that like to tweet platitudes and quick quotes on images. We have to focus on our own connections and mute/unfollow those we don't need in our network. #moedchat
I think it varies, but there are usually training videos, etc. that take some time but in the process they are learning tips and tricks in the use of the product. They are being rewarded by becoming 'experts' in the use of the product. That's my understanding. #moedchat
A6 we step out with our passion and share it. We ask the hard questions we become the bold person who leads the conversation even when it hurts to talk about the most difficult things #MOedchat
A6: Restructure chats to be slower, deeper conversations that illicit dialogue instead of always a quick q&a ... maybe one topic is a week instead of an hour. #moedchat
I'm an ambassador for one thing. It is something that I really think is a good product from a good company. I want to share the awesomeness that it creates. By joining them, I get my message out to more. Is that so bad? Not a collector item, just an increase in voice #moedchat

AWhatever) Scripted teaching sucks. No equivocations. If you disagree then you will never be my friend. We will never watch Gravity Falls together. #itotallymeanit#moedchat
I don’t believe all competition is bad. If teacher A sees that teacher B had students rock the post asssessment and she didn’t I hope it motivates her to see what Teacher A did diff and she collabs to find out. Healthy competition equals collaboration . #MOedchat
Not bad at all. You believe in it and share that. I am always curious about this because some have like 10 badges for diff companies and it seems exhausting #moedchat

Both. Followers allow them to continue to get away with it and pretend it's value adding. But we can still call out bad takes and pretend they're reflective enough to care #moedchat
Right. If it doesn't benefit the T, then they shouldn't do it. I know some Ts that love being ambassadors. I'm sure it depends on the company and the T. #moedchat
You could rephrase this. “Great teachers don’t use scripted teaching.” Maybe your tweet would spread farther with “great teacher” verbiage. ;) #moedchat
So true. Crazy to think some countries are okay with 65% tax rate because they value caring for ALL citizens and we compete over which class can sell most magazines to win a rubber ducky 🙄 #moedchat
I think if you're thoughtful and purposeful about what you choose to promote, then you're all good. However, I agree, there are those that are looking for a resume bullet point and not much else. Also, GIF (J sound) #moedchat
