Join in the #HISDAdminChat conversation each Sunday night at 6pm CST as we discuss the challenges we face and the successes we celebrate while learning and leading as an HISD Administrator.
We're back! After a bit of a break, 6pm on Sundays can only mean one thing: it's time to join your #HISDAdminChat family for 30 minutes of reflecting and recharging to get ready for the week.
A1: I’ll show you my leadership team and you’ll see how NO MATTER what you throw at us we’ll make it happen! Committed to the goals and growing exponentially

Strengths and Weaknesses. Each member of your team should display a weakness that you’ve accepted as a leader and have hired to learn from & collaborate with. #HISDAdminChat

A1 - "Show me your leadership team and I'll show you your offensive line". In my opinion, that particular team should support their leader and have your back. #HISDAdminchat

This profession has humbled me, made me incredibly resilient, expanded my perspective and filled me with passion to continue impacting communities! I wouldn’t change it for the world! #HISDAdminChat#LivingTheDream
It has changed me into being who I needed to be for those that needed me. I’m more confident in the work, more understanding of others needs and how I can best support them through our journey. #HISDAdminChat
A2: the capacity that has been build in me over he last year and half have been so valuable! Thank you @menxueiro for your faith and pouring into me! #HISDAdminChat
A2 - Being a school leader has opened my eyes to the importance of supporting and growing others. In return, I grow as well. #PayItForward#HISDAdminChat
A2: Being a school leader has humbled me but also motivated me to keep going. I have learned how much is completely outside of my/our control, and how all we can do is keep pushing for our kids/communities/staffs. #HISDAdminChat
A2: Being able to sort through the clutter and focus on the things that really matter to move the needle. Also, finding the true character in people when the pressure is on. What makes people snap? #HISDAdminChat
A2. It has changed me in that I have realized that getting better is all about people and people being seen and supported as they develop. It has focused my learning in those areas. #HISDAdminChat

A2. Being an elementary and middle school principal has allowed me to support students, teachers, other administrators, and communities. It has shown me other ways to impact Education outside of the classroom. I have a better respect for classroom teachers! #HISDAdminChat
Q2: I use the @CHHS_principal triangle of success with every decision I make. The voices of staff, parents and students are considered to help our school continue to perform at a high level. #HISDAdminChat

A2: Stepping into the role of a school leader has given me a new lens on what has to be done. So many times we make decisions and teachers don't understand why and are upset. I have learned that as long as if it's whats best for kids I can't worry about how adults feel about me.
Q3 My friend @wcarozza recently shared a blog post that highlighted the need to be with the kids when the kids are there and save paperwork for later. I try to schedule my days so that I am visible around campus. My message? It’s all about the kids! #HISDAdminChat
Glad you mentioned that. It important that anyone who decides to leave the classroom find a way to remember how impossible it can be at times. #HISDAdminChat
@MaggyTovar1 The job that we do every day is so much greater than I could have ever imagined. Until I moved into this role I never truly realized the impact. I want so much for the kids I serve. I reflect more than ever everyday with a greater sense of urgency #hisdadminchat
My daily routine is nonstop! Organized chaos but progressive and transformative. My daily routine is purposeful with the children being first in all that I do. #HISDAdminChat

That I’m consistent with my work and my support for others. It also says my expectation for myself and for others doesn’t waiver, so that we can make sure that our students, staff and faculty have what they need for our campus to remain successful. #HISDAdminChat
A3: My routine shows that I have somehow become a morning person, that I get my energy from being around kids and in classrooms, and that, despite my Outlook obsession, I’ve had to accept that things come up in this job and that I can deal with surprises! #HISDAdminChat

A2: Being a Leader is a selfless act. Less of what I want & more of what’s best for the students without seeking personal gain. It’s not about YOU! #HISDAdminChat
A3: My title means NOTHING. I’m here to help. There’s so much to do. I still have so much to learn, TEACH ME! Please feel comfortable talking to me about your struggles and let’s improve together #HISDAdminChat
My daily routine is fast paced for sure! The kids are at the center of everything I do! Observations, schedules, conferences it is the best kind of 🌪would not change it at all!#hisdadminchat
A3: I’m all about building relationships with my kids, my teachers, and my parents. I am a free spirit who makes all decisions with love. #HISDAdminChat#letlovelead💜
Yes! But I haven’t tried it in a while. Yours looks great. I really love bullet journaling too. @debralcamp and I got into a long side convo about our bullet journals last year in #HISDAdminchat. 😂
