CatholicEdChat is a twitter chat. Topics focus on discussions around educational issues for Catholic Educators and topics beneficial to Catholic Schools. We look forward to continuing to connect Catholic Educators online to discuss education and teaching with faith in our schools. The chat takes place on Saturday mornings. Time 9am EST.
Want to be my teaching partner? A 3rd grade opening at @SMMschoolOmaha It is a self contained classroom plus science for all 3rd graders. You would work with hard working, curious students, supportive parents, talented colleagues and a beautiful campus. Watercolor by @artxltd
I am looking for an assistant principal. We are located in Frederick, Md. a school of about 500 students. 2x honored as a Blue Ribbon School. Job is posted on NCEA career center. #CatholicEdchat
Good morning #CatholicEdChat! I’m Amy from Chicago. ELA teacher and Ed.D. student in C&I. Just popping in before heading out to my nephew’s First Communion. 😇
My open chat question... Anyone have any good ideas for a last day of school reading celebration that gets students excited about summer reading? #CatholicEdChat
@smitty2karen@BarbInNebraska maybe that’s a good chat topic for today! What big changes are happening in your school and how does that excite you and/or stress you out? #CatholicEdchat
End of the year is a combo of closing out one year but planning for new year is already underway so you are balancing between the current year and looking ahead #catholicedchat
I would love for upper-grade students to share their favorite books with the lower grade students. Fun for older students to remember books they enjoyed and great suggestions for younger students. #catholicedchat
Good morning, all! I apologize for my late arrival this morning; I had to drop off my son John-Paul at CCD (and he would not even give Daddy a late pass)! #CatholicEdChat
I’m curious what summer PD everyone has planned? Obviouslyi will be at @NCEATALK Assessment Conference in June, but also @iste in July. What are your plans? #CatholicEdchat
I have wanted to try @Flipgrid in my Spanish classroom - thinking would be great for reflection and assessment of speaking skills? Do your students enjoy using it? #CatholicEdChat

Thinking about going to the catholic liberal education national conference at the end of July in DC. Anyone have any experience or knowledge about this conference? Is it worth attending? #CatholicEdchat
#catholicedchat How about creating videos or book teasers for the little ones based on older Ss favorites when they were younger. This way the little ones get excited 😆 based on the teasers
We do continue during the summer. Maybe a lot of open chat topics but we just would miss each other too much, so we don't take a break in the Summer! #CatholicEdChat
I understand how you are feeling, Barb! We had to say goodbye to two long-term administrators last year, welcome two new ones this year, and now another 1.5 new admins next year (2 people already on our faculty moving into admin). Change is hard, but good. #CatholicEdChat

Saying goodbye as our principal retires...served as a teacher and principal at our school for 40 years! Talk about commitment and dedication! She will be greatly missed. #CatholicEdChat

We require three books and that varies per teacher. I'm new to my building this year so I'm letting them go with what they are used to doing before I make changes. What I like to see is one book everyone reads, one non-fiction, and one free choice. #CatholicEdChat

I was at the high school level of PBIS and my wife was at the elementary level of this program when we taught in public education. We both enjoyed it and use a similar model now in our classroom but not at full diocese level. #CatholicEdChat
I'm heading back to grad school again this summer @Creighton, working on an educational leadership degree. My reading will be about school law and foundations of Catholic education. :-) #CatholicEdChat
.@ksedleader, I love to learn about what is going on in classical schools. I recommend that you attend. @SJAVox here in @Wash_Archdiocese is a hallmark of Catholic liberal [arts] education. The principal, Danny Flynn, is a friend, and his family goes to my parish. #CatholicEdChat
Book trailers are really easy to do on iMovie since they offer trailer templates. Kids just add their own photos and text. Fun to watch, too! #CatholicEdchat

I have a few professional books I want to read for "fun" before classes start, so I will gear up for the grad classes by reading every minute I can in May! #CatholicEdChat
I love nature, including birds and their calls. They are a wonderful feature of God's green earth. Blue jays are my favorite, given their variety of calls... and you can hear them from far away (often not even seeing them)! A good resource: https://t.co/3DfAP9ONFb#CatholicEdChat

Almost done and I want to start a Twitter group for all educators and coaches to discuss. @astriche was a speaker I went to the last two @NCEATALK conferences she’s made a lasting impact on me as a coach and person. Great read! #CatholicEdChat
How about Virtue based approaches to student discipline? How do you both formally and informally use virtue based models at the secondary level? #CatholicEdChat
Immaculate Conception K-8 school in Jefferson City, MO is a full PBIS school. Their principal @heatherschrimpf is a wealth of PBIS knowledge.

I can confirm that! I was awakened very early by the singing birds this morning since we left our window open last night! I loved hearing a cardinal in the mix of sounds. #CatholicEdChat
Great read! just a true conversation of the vocation of coaching. As a young coach I was win win win! Destroy your opponent!!! But with time and growth we have a bigger calling and obligation to our students. #CatholicEdchat

They are! And for me, they are also a great reminder to stay the course, never give up. This woodpecker keeps going and going until he accomplishes his goal. #CatholicEdChat

I'm not going to ISTE, but I will be attending the national Computer Science Teachers Association conference here in Omaha in July. I even get to present some of our students' work there! #CatholicEdChat
Gotta rum #CatholicEdChat friends! This guy’s patience is wearing thin (waiting for a walk)! Enjoy the weekend! Thank you for your energy and generosity of time and conversation!

It is a beautiful, inspiring book! I just shared a reflection from this week with our 7th grade religion teachers, who just taught their pro-life unit. It was a very timely reflection that meant a lot to them. #CatholicEdChat

I think that a [species of] woodpecker pair is nesting in a tree on the other side of our neighborhood. Their famous pecking is iconic, but their call constitutes quite the commotion as well. This theology teacher figures that carpenters are good to have around. #CatholicEdChat

One of our topics at our School of Faith was Grace. We were talking about a new hashtag #GraceFilledTeacherMoments Kind of long....but we thought they would be inspiring to share. #CatholicEdchat
Our session on grace yesterday was one of the best ever. It's so important to look for those moments every day to be reminded that God is always with us. #CatholicEdChat
My summer plans are a bit in flux. Will be transitioning to a new role so will need to keep my dates open. May miss ISTE and the Leadership conference. #CatholicEdChat

Thanks for a great start to the day, #CatholicEdChat. I have to run, as I have students presenting their coding projects at UNO this morning. Have a great week, everyone!

Quite a few years ago we used Gloria Durka's The Teacher's Calling: A Spirituality for Those Who Teach for a teacher book study and it was very well received https://t.co/o8C9E2kpSf#CatholicEdChat
