I had a similar experience. Sometimes people interpret joy and optimism as a threat. I can't relate at all to that, but it certainly is a thing. #LeadLap

A7: I love to find ways to say YES! It encourages risk taking, supports innovation & creativity, & provides a safe place for them to experiment & maybe even fail forward. I love reading student proposals & listening to their ideas. If I can find ANY way to say yes, I do! #LeadLAP

A7: Ask for volunteers to facilitate our after-school learning lab for teachers. #leadlap No one can lead better than those down in the trenches every day! Teachers know what works!

I’ve been doing that, and it helped me immensely! Feel so much more at peace and I still have my joy. Great advice! I share this as a lesson for others. I probably should blog about it. #leadlap

Bold discussions about grading policies and homework...I believe it’s important to reflect on this topic often with colleagues so that we’re certain what we’re doing is best for kids. #LeadLAP

A6: To build a school culture of reading. Where Ts and Ss are reading and talking about books together - recommending them. Can’t keep kids out of the library if I tried kind of reading culture. 😊#LeadLAP

A7: You have to model the boldness. Get out of your comfort zone and try new things. Highlight students and staff when they go for it and lead boldly! Support and give opportunity!! #LeadLAP

A7: I’ve been talking a lot recently w/ Ts about collective teacher efficacy. We’ve got to believe that we have the ability to do great things for kids. We’ve got to believe that we are better together. I think staff needs to hear more that I believe in them. #LeadLAP

A7: Jay, listening is the key. When listening, we must use our heads & hearts. Risk taking is indeed important, but we must be sure that these risks are reasonable. Also, we must be reflective on our actions. Otherwise, we lose sight of the impact of our actions. #LeadLAP

A8: My call to action this week: Ss who show up for P/T conf on Thurs. will lead the conf. They will show their Ps the webpage they created to show learning & walk their Ps through it. They have access to their grades 24/7 so the focus will be on learning not grades. #LeadLAP
