Alex Carithers, medical student from AACT in reno
, a1, that's a challenge, it's important to focus on students social needs so they're successful in academics. It's a fine line
A1 in SEL lessons its easy 2 incorporate standards&creating a positive classroom env so Ss are always around positive SEL vibes
A1: SEL is my approach to my Ss hearts and academic content is my approach to their minds. Put both in a blender & drink it up!

A1: the best way is to be as friendly as possible without giving too much negative feedback
great point https://t.co/NmIKZuOCKC

A1 in a way that stimulates my mind as well as the minds of others. Implement learning from other students.
A2: unfortunately it means I come in early & stay late
A2: you can make activities out of what you have to do to keep the students thinking and keep them entertained at the same time
A2 hmmm have to do and need to do are the same thing to me, I'm confused. Could I get some clarification? 🤔
A2: communicate with other Ts, share teaching styles and information, make the job a little easier on eachother
A1 -2 first yr Ss spent last week learning brain anatomy, also discussed their learning style which helps me know them
A2: I think its best to make choices in the curriculum that does both. We have to learn certain things but I still decide how!

can you give example of a favorite activity
A2 if the "have to do" isn't meaningful I HAVE to make it meaningful. Doing meaningless stuff in my classroom gives me shivers
A2 we know we have paper work to do-but being in classes & interacting are the "have to" that create sustainable change
a2 I try to focus on what's best for SS and am trying to make sure I also accomplish what I have to do for admin/accountability
A-1 If we promote a growth mindset w/frequent form. assessments & ample feedback--Ss will take the risks & meet the challenge!
A2 so like "have to do" would attendance be an example of that? I make attendance into a quick fraction/percent activity.
whats your favorite project you ever did in school
exactly-how do we keep the "have to's" from controlling what's best for Ss https://t.co/UsDeKy5LD4

A-2 I constantly try new ways to maximize classroom observations & visibility. Often means I'm in my office Sunday typing.
A3 learn to manage time and prioritize. School kind of consumes my life.
