It was pretty chilly here today too, but kids were able to get outside this afternoon. I actually went for a walk when I got home - the cool air felt good! #4thchat
My name is Kortney! I am studying Digital Communication in Education with @ghartman This is my 2nd chat this week, I think I am getting addicted! #4thchat#LUlearns
I think it is awesome that your professors are having you join Twitter chats. You'll build a PLN and learn so much. Anytime, night or day and there's a resource at your fingertips! #4thchat
#4thchat cold is arriving now. It's funny because once it goes below 20 below I don't know that I can tell the difference. You stay inside when you can.
Since we are a small group - I'm thinking we'll save the formal "Time Management" questions till next week. Are you all okay with an OPEN mic night? Ask questions, share resources, #4thchat
ive always wanted to make stuff for TPT but i find it intimidating. also i tend to think my stuff is not that good. although i am thinking about going back and making a bundle of stuff for the wild robot and wild robot escapes books #4thchat
#4thchat My main issue with TpT is much of what I make is link to curriculum and I always feel like I will step on copyright issues. I see a lot of stuff I don't understand how it can be OK. Great content, but legally unsure. I would love some guidelines.
i have a BAT (BIG @$$ TV) i project my morning work with slides from the tv. i also try to use flipgrid, and google forms. im also trying to do more and make sure i add to it. #4thchat
#4thchat Also revamped our classroom youtube channel, we don't post so much content as curate. If you have favorite video I'd love to know about it. https://t.co/jD7ohxDp9Z
We are a Google Suite school - so many activities are completed using Docs, Slides, Drawings and Sheets. Lots of teachers use Google Classroom for management & Seesaw for parent communication and formative assessment. #4thchat
Right now she is showing us how to create something that will catch the eye and sell well. Like clip art and fonts. I can't wait to learn more! #4thchat
Hi Kim - Glad you're here! You are welcome to jump in anytime. We are holding our "Time Management" conversation over until next week. We are having an Open Mic night. #4thchat
I think the same about me...I think it making resources that can be used with literature is a great idea. Sometimes, though I think teachers should just share... #4thchat
#4thchat Speaking of sharing, I made a Google Site so my colleagues don't have to have a "Mark" folder in their email. https://t.co/MAlV9CgPEW Here is one space for sharing ideas.
no but i am in the process of learning how to do this. i find that my small groups tend to have more rewards in teaching. This is the one thing I wanted to grow in was small groups this year. #4thchat
I feel you with the small groups for writing & reading. I am taking a online class to help reading & writing using tech. im hoping it will help do small groups a little better for the rest of the year. im still working on my small groups for math. its very hit and miss. #4thchat
This is why being an educator is so difficult yet so rewarding. The best thing about teaching is it matters. The hardest thing about teaching is that it matters every day. Hang in there and always remember your why #KidsDeserveIt#webblc#myMISD#ICMISD
The mind is powerful! Don’t create problems that don’t exists. It’s tempting to give in to worry and anxiety, but try to focus on what is in front of you in the moment, without anticipating problems that may or may not arise in the future. #edchat#mindfulness
We toured the White House and then we "skyped" @wkrakower as he took his class to Ellis Island (which my class was studying). Then we skyped him when we went to Plimoth Plantation. "Shared Field Trips" we called it! Pretty cool. #4thchat
#4thchat So far good. The Ss raised $50 which is 2 loans. When they are paid back we will reloan. I put up three proposals and we choose the person to lend to. Some interesting S discussions.
Our teachers do Guided Reading & Guided Math groups most everyday. Science/Social Studies tend to be project based, not necessarily small group. #4thchat
No, but this past week I had Ss respond on @padlet while I did my read aloud. I didn't realize padlet had other settings like backchannel. I projected the backchannel while I read. #4thchat
I’m a complete cold chicken. I don’t know how you guys in the mid west and east coast deal. I bow down to your “Elsa” powers as a teacher while dealing with the cold. Lol #4thchat
Yes, they are so good. And there is integrated lesson content and question/response slides that you can use as a formative assessment. Our favorite was a visit to the Grand Canyon. #4thchat

#4thchat For the past month I have had Ss write in Google Docs (autosave) and then post writing to me daily in a @Seesaw note. After feedback they revise and write more the next day. A new topic each week. We have so much basic writing to work through this seems to be helping.
#4thchat Posting daily formative writing on @Seesaw helped me avoid wanting to post only published pieces. Ps have been commenting on S progress and areas they need reminding.
I have done the same to have them post goals met for online programs like Lexia and iReady. They can voice over how they think it was and submit on @Seesaw. #4thchat
#4thchat. When it's this cold you notice there are no: Bugs, snakes, crocodiles, piranhas, large spiders, etc. outside. Just snow. And cold. From inside the sun can be amazing in the winter.

We could curate a topic and template for all of us to use in our own districts/groups of parents... it would lighten the load on an individual teacher, but enrich our communities by being able to adjust it as needed. #4thchat
Last couple of years I've had the students write what they'd be like if they were 100 years old. Then I took their pic with an aging app & we shared them on the bulletin board. #4thchat
#4thchat we have a std based report card, so my primary goal is to give writing feedback more often and quicker. Like daily. So many Ss need pre-4th grade writing help. They get so excited when it starts to click.
#4thchat Several years. So much of elementary is formative. We are constantly trying to get Ss to learn past topics and review to keep things fresh. No grade and move on in 4th (or anywhere really).

It really is simplified to match expected performance on state assessments (for ELA and math) and the other content areas follow. It has helped me make sure I know (and Ss know) how they are doing. It's an ongoing challenge to balance it all. #4thchat
