  • JulieHKuhn May 22 @ 8:37 PM EDT
A2: Consider the movement, mobility, visual and auditory access needs of the Ss. Lighting, seating options, size of work space. #PatinsIcam
  • RachelH872 May 22 @ 8:37 PM EDT
Don't we all???? Love it! #PatinsIcam
    In reply to @jlfahlbush
  • PATINSSandi May 22 @ 8:38 PM EDT
A2: I think one of the biggest concerns is the ability to change the space to meet the needs of the lessons. It needs to be comfortable and changeable.#PatinsIcam
  • RachelH872 May 22 @ 8:38 PM EDT
BUT...once you plan AHEAD of the year, the pay off is huge! #PatinsIcam
    In reply to @VickiW823
  • RachelH872 May 22 @ 8:38 PM EDT

    In reply to @jlfahlbush
  • danielgmcnulty May 22 @ 8:40 PM EDT
A3: Engagement is FAR more effective when you know your Ss on a more personal level. And w/out engagement, not much else really matters in the learning process. (beyond safety) #PatinsIcam
  • VickiW823 May 22 @ 8:40 PM EDT
    Absolutely, @RachelH872 Always. #PatinsIcam
    • RachelH872 May 22 @ 8:38 PM EDT

A3: It contributes to your ability to create engaging moments for students, but more importantly the relationship built with each student facilitates creating a space where they feel comfortable to learn. #PatinsIcam
  • RachelH872 May 22 @ 8:41 PM EDT
A3: UDL is completely about the needs of the students...and knowing them better helps guide what you provide as a T! What a fabulous journey! #PatinsIcam
  • VickiW823 May 22 @ 8:41 PM EDT
A3: You never know them until you try to get to know them. Making connections matters more than we realize. https://t.co/y79EIYevKi #PatinsIcam
  • ksuding May 22 @ 8:41 PM EDT
A3: It allows you to bring in your student's fascinations/interests into the classroom to make it more meaningful & engaging #PatinsIcam #givehimthewhale
  • RachelH872 May 22 @ 8:41 PM EDT
Q4: Some students may require Specialized Formats (digital text, digital audio, braille, captioning, large print, etc) of materials as documented in their IEPs. How do you find and secure these formats?#PatinsIcam
  • JulieHKuhn May 22 @ 8:42 PM EDT
A3: UDL is a great way to consider options for all Ss, includingthose in the margins. Knowing your Ss is a way to personalize this learning. #PatinsIcam
  • RachelH872 May 22 @ 8:42 PM EDT
And we all know how hard the engagement piece can be! Good point! #PatinsIcam
    In reply to @ksuding

  • VickiW823 May 22 @ 8:43 PM EDT
    A4: PATINSIcam, of course. #PatinsIcam
  • jconradslp May 22 @ 8:43 PM EDT
I like the 2x10 strategy because it's flexible and appropriate for students of any age, spending time to "talk" can mean any number of things #PatinsIcam
  • jlfahlbush May 22 @ 8:43 PM EDT
A3: We are more likely to truly engage our Ss when we can incorporate their interests & learning preferences for starters #PatinsIcam
  • RachelH872 May 22 @ 8:43 PM EDT
I LOVE 2X10! Can you explain it to those who have not heard about it yet? #PatinsIcam

    In reply to @BevSharritt, @TheSouthportSch
  • danielgmcnulty May 22 @ 8:44 PM EDT
A4: Another great question would be how do you determine the need for specialized formats even exists and WHICH formats? #PatinsIcam
  • ksuding May 22 @ 8:44 PM EDT
A4: ICAM of course https://t.co/JMR32B0unP However, when thinking of #UDL allowing Ss to use text to speech, etc if they so choose if that is how they learn best..to excel beyond what they are already doing #PatinsIcam
  • jlfahlbush May 22 @ 8:45 PM EDT
And if you're unsure of who your DRMs are, just ask @mwhammond1 at the ICAM! #PatinsIcam

    In reply to @jconradslp
  • iplante May 22 @ 8:46 PM EDT
A4: finding the path to provide Ss with accessible materials can take a variety of journeys but it should be about what the Ss need not how we can get it #PatinsIcam
  • JulieHKuhn May 22 @ 8:46 PM EDT
A5: It takes a village to educate a child. One person cannot have all the knowledge and experience of a network of educators. #PatinsIcam
  • VickiW823 May 22 @ 8:47 PM EDT
A5: This is best practice. Best for Ts. Best for Ss. Best for ALL. #PatinsIcam
  • RachelH872 May 22 @ 8:47 PM EDT
Right...and what do they say? The journey is part of the adventure, right??? #PatinsIcam
    In reply to @iplante
  • PATINSSandi May 22 @ 8:47 PM EDT
A5: It is so hard to get things done when a student is being taken out by other educators to meet specific needs. A student can really loose a lot of time that way. By including them in the plan, everyone gains time and purpose. #PatinsIcam
  • jlfahlbush May 22 @ 8:48 PM EDT
A5: Other educators can offer new ideas, perspectives, and resources for reaching your Ss #PatinsIcam

    In reply to @JulieHKuhn
  • jconradslp May 22 @ 8:48 PM EDT
A5: Everything I ever learned about lesson planning I learned from @jlfahlbush while creating a UDL lesson plan. No one teaches SLPs about lesson planning, it was eye opening! I know a lot about adapting curriculum, but there's a lot that goes into developing it #PatinsIcam
  • iplante May 22 @ 8:48 PM EDT
A5: we all need to work together to bring our expertise and passions to meet student needs...our solutions as adults are not always the best #hardlessons #PatinsIcam

  • ksuding May 22 @ 8:51 PM EDT
Great Q..qualifying print disability is a start...even if Ss do not have an IEP...sometimes the simplicity of just asking "how do you learn best?" is powerful 4 them & showing them ways to self advocate because they will develop an understanding of how they learn #PatinsIcam
    • danielgmcnulty May 22 @ 8:44 PM EDT
A4: Another great question would be how do you determine the need for specialized formats even exists and WHICH formats? #PatinsIcam
