Day 3 my favorites app has to be the go army football app. You can diagram plays as well as use it to let the kids get an idea of blitzes. #TXHSFBCHAT#12DaysFBTwitter
Thank you for having me! I focus on working with student athletes on off the field life skills that help them transition to becoming great at whatever they chose in life. I truly believe that they are the key to our future.

#12DaysFBTwitter Day 3: favorite apps Hudl for film and scout purposes and twitter great tool for connecting with other coaches. Still working to become familiar with google drive but have heard really good things. #TXHSFBCHAT
Teach them how to manage time within their school-issued planner. We created our own planner at the college level - our CSB (College Success Blueprint).
Teach kids to prioritize what needs to get done by urgency (A, B, C). #TXHSFBCHAT
It's definitely something they need to help with applying. Some kids have parents who stay on them to make sure they are focusing on their studies, others do not and it is more on them. Hopefully their teachers are talking about it too, & we can help cement the point #TXHSFBCHAT
Have to do a little of both. We have a very academic first approach because of the rigorous academic schedule players keep. Have learned to work with players what works best-but hold them accountable for the schedule we set up #TXHSFBCHAT
Class, practice, homework due tomorrow (A1, A2, A3) - has to get done today.
Outline for next week’s paper (B1) - great if we can, ok if we can’t.
Fortnite with the guys (C1) - only if we take care of business.

A2: We meet 30 minutes before practice and practice 1:15 minutes majority of the week. Learned to keep schedule consistent and mapped out movements to take advantage of time and keep familiar. Schedule was as result of class schedules. #TXHSFBCHAT
#TXHSFBCHAT#TXHSFB young firey coach looking to join #TXHSFB#thsca Enrolling in Texas Teachers. 3 years college experience mostly secondary. Would love to make a difference. Passionate bout wins. Looking for an opportunity! Available tomorrow. Resources available upon request.
A2: Outside of school, about 6 hours of practice for a regular Friday game. 1 hour team dinner, and then Friday game day, which would be about 7 hours because we keep them at school prior to leaving for the game. 2 hour Saturday film and lift. So 16 hours #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: this is going to be something I am going to work to try and get better at. This past season was my first as a head freshmen coach and what I saw is that my players struggle with the transition between 8th-9th because of the demand of both school and football #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: It also created a great opportunity for position coaches to bond w/players and dig into how things are going at home. Natural conversation starter. #TXHSFBCHAT
That is about the average that I am seeing around the country. That is pretty time consuming when you think about a kid is already occupied for 36 hours for school 56 hours for sleep and then you have to find time to do homework, sleep, and R&R. #TXHSFBCHAT

A3: Our main thing we focus on is the effort you put into your job and working to improve upon your previous showing. We teach the importance of teamwork and sacrifice for something more. #TXHSFBCHAT
I work with a lot of players that don't have support at home for these kinds of things. Do you have him partner up with someone or a coach? #TXHSFBCHAT
We would include parents in the presentation meeting to explain the system and get support at home.
At the college level, we would present it on recruiting visits - always got the parents in the boat
A3: we really try teach not just accountability but not being afraid of holding others accountable. You will fail at times but have to see them as learning opportunities and to be intentional with whatever you are doing. Have a purpose. No purpose no direction #TXHSFBCHAT
I truly believe coaches for all sports are kind of our last line for teaching our kids what generally sports teaches us. Everything from how to be a teammate to perseverance and work ethic. #TXHSFBCHAT

Day 3: Favorite apps are Twitter and Hudl. I appreciate all I have learned through networking on Twitter. Hudl is great to watch film and scout on the go. #TXHSFBCHAT
Being a Role Model
On & Off the Field Accountability
Leaving things better then you got it (Away Games)
Decision-making and problem-solving
Having good Communication and interpersonal skills
#TXHSFBCHAT
A4: I think it is important for them to write them out both individual and team goals. They have to be SMART goals. We will post these in their lockers and have them put them in their team binders.#TXHSFBCHAT
A3: How to carry yourself as a member of the community, your attitude & effort will separate you, how to respond to adversity, the list goes on. #TXHSFBCHAT
I like that! When I work with teams we develop a team goal to start with to show them the process then move to the 3 goals. The last step is for them to teach one of their parents or siblings. This allows them to truly understand the process. #TXHSFBCHAT

I have a designed form that I use with my student athletes that allow them to tap into their goals and priorities. It is very powerful when used correctly. #TXHSFBCHAT
A4:
Before Season Goals (Offseason)
Players are ask to set Specific, achievable, relevant, and time-based goals.
During Season Goals
Review them what they chose and if we need to reword them
End of Season Goals (Exit Interview)
Were they happen with the end result
#TXHSFBCHAT
A5: For today’s athletes this is a must. We must praise often and be intentional with it. Coaches call out will be big for us. After every workout, practice, game, each coach will choose a player or position group that stood out.#TXHSFBCHAT

Being a value to the community is awesome. If they know that the younger guys are watching them it makes them more self aware. That is a great! The community is only as strong as the people operating within it. #TXHSFBCHAT

Thanks again to @coachgugs and all the coaches tonight! Day 3 of #12DaysFBTwitter has been fantastic! Can't wait to see what you bring on Day 4! #TXHSFBCHAT
