#NBCTchatter exists to promote accomplished teaching practices based on the research of the National Board of Professional Teaching standards and the experience of NBCTs. Our goal is to highlight our teacher leaders and give them a platform to talk about the practices, strategies, and plans that help prepare our students for life beyond our classrooms – becoming college and career ready.
Good evening ... I'm here while listening to my daughter play handbells @HCPSLopezElem ... and secretly enjoying my time spent chanting with great #NBCT people!
Sylvia, host of #NBCTchatter and Writing Coach / Reading Tchr @BrandonHSEagles
A1: My favorite lesson resource is my Media colleagues! Hillsborough County has a wonderful support system led by @LMSK5 and @LMSsecondary. Our Media family loves to share and I love to borrow/steal their ideas to make them my own! #NBCTchatter
A1: lately I’ve loved using Storyworks magazines by @Scholastic for shared reading texts. They have fantastic web resources that go along with each text! Super high internet for my 3rd graders! #NBCTchatter
A2 I unpack standards first then find activities that work/support each piece of the standard my sts needed. It's like a toolbox -- for each standard I just need to find the best tool #NBCTchatter
A2: My first thought when I look at a resource is “Is this going to work for my students’ unique needs?”. My second thought is “If it won’t in its present state, can I tweek it to make it work?"

A2 Prior to use, is it material which will interest and engage Ss? Is it able to be differentiated? Did it reinforce the learning of standards?

#NBCTchatter Q2 When students reference the resource in the lesson reflection, the next day and weeks later, I know that an impact has been made! @CTechEd

A3 I would recommend 2 sites -- for those that have @DougSBoard SpringBoard curriculum, use the SBD and the SBCommunity ... for those in FL, check out https://t.co/zpfhG9ZIUA#NBCTchatter

I just started the cert process and am with all the things I am working on, I am here looking for guidance on this process. Is this the place for that, or no?
A3 - Some of my favorite include problem solving activities like @PhETsims and @codeorg . Have the students apply what they are learning. They should test, modify, and retest their ideas! #NBCTchatter
A3 Architecture of Accompp Teaching (ahhhhhh); UDL web site; Teach Like a Pirate series. And experienced colleagues.

I believe great ideas certainly come from resources so sometimes it isn't the resource itself, but the inspiration that is most useful! #NBCTchatter@CTechEd@HNBCT#NBCTstrong

#NBCTchatter ... thanks to @mediajohnson for sharing so many ideas and resources ... be sure to reflect on tonight's chat. How can you apply what you learned tonight to your practice?
It’s wonderful when your administration encourages PD within the school (observing other teachers, sharing of resources between grade levels, etc.)!
