I like! Wish I had seen this before I planned Monday's religion class. Might need to adapt.
My tweets for the next hour will be devoted to Good morning!
Good morning ! Br Christopher in KS checking in
Good morning from northeastern PA.
morning! Beautiful day in the Heartland
It is! Can't wait to get to some yard work after chat.
Casual Chat this morning! How was your week? Any questions to share with the group?
Morning, folks- John in IA...great Saturday for a run...
great! Has the weather turned fallish for you?
morning, John! One month of school under your belt!
Adam, 5/6 social studies, Brooklyn, OH! It was a good week! Rainy morning...
Question: How to balance content of religion class while still leading ss closer to Christ? This is my biggest challenge!
Good Morning from Indy! Rainy Saturday
Tomorrow is Catechetical Sunday. Great resources from USCCB.
how was Dave with Teach Like a Pirate?
What grade level do you teach?
book emphasizes connecting w/ God- translated into 5th Grade learning and singing expressive praise/worship...
Scholastic News had the kid's ballot for the election in it this week. The kids were so excited to vote!
amazing, inspiring,awesome
perfect! What conference was this?
Our archdiocese forbade any discussion of elections this cycle! Not good.
saw that too! Preparing lessons on the electoral process and getting the Ss ready to vote! It's coming fast!
Good morning! After the chat I am off to Not sure what it is but excited
For other Social Studies folks, anybody used Nate Silver w/ their ss? introduced him to my 8th graders- was a hit.
how cool! I've always wanted to go to one...might have to make one for Omaha!
Reallly. Sup. went so far as to say T couldn't even put signs in own yards. Out of line, maybe?
...would like 2 join 4 an assignment
RCL Benzinger Blest are We...first couple chapters deal w/ worship before going into sacraments.
doesn't seem right! It's conscience forming...teaching what the Church believes...interesting.
wow, any political sign or just for the president?
Can you talk about issues exclusive of candidates & election?
I could understand not showing support for certain issues, but no signs seems too far.
Any political sign. no issues. Put head in sand, ignore world for time being.
Not even sure what it is! Just got the email and it was free so why not!
I got a free copy of Teaching Tolerance magazine and they had an article about issues
and what is considered a "sign"? Candidates only? Just president? Local candidates? Hmmmm...
Random Idea...maybe it would be fun to do a book study chat sometime
Hi! I'm soon becoming an elementary teacher. I was interested in knowing the differences b/w Catholic and Public schools?
was looking through it yesterday! Great articles!
As a religious, I have to be careful anyways, but seems unduly burdensome for lay staff to be treated this way.
Good morning from foggy NE KS
welcome, Great question Marissa! We all teach at Catholic schools in this chat.
Which MSU is in your handle? MI? MN?
What areas in particular are you asking about? Many aspects to your ?
Wow! We avoid talking about the candidates but still talk about the election process.
we should all be careful...that's what is needed!
Planned upcoming professional development this past week. What would you most like to see at your school?
Right? Being a faithful citizen requires knowledge of process. Voter turnout is low already.
and being able to discuss in a safe environment!
I love teaching at a Catholic school because I can share my Catholic faith.
Was it for the actual candidates or Mock?
Good morning from Philadelphia
that's my plan. Process is important especially in Ohio! Candidates love us..now!
Primary diff: schools exist to catechize and form disciples of Christ,
The Scholastic News poll is for the actual candidates and we send in our tally.
What plans do your local schools/parishes have for Catechetical Sunday? Anything special happening for your teachers?
Buenos dias. I am Abe from NYC. I am a VP in an elem school. I am also a catechist.
... instructing ss in academics, arts, and sports serves that goal as well as their own development.
good morning, Abe! Welcome!
IA's had close polls-emphasized importance of voting...each vote counts
Had s good week. Was in Louisville doing a district accreditation at Sacred Heart Schools. Run by Ursuline Sisters.
Think I understand rationale. Divisive partisanship. But rationale can still be wrong. https://t.co/zC3LJiV0p0
Reallly. Sup. went so far as to say T couldn't even put signs in own yards. Out of line, maybe?
Not what-who! Speakers like anyone from they do great PD!
YEAH! Thats my alma mater! School day looks a lot like a Public, with rel. class, prayers at start of class
As a principal I'd ❤️ to see peer coaching. My Ts sppt ea other/work well together but there is still hesitance.
pastor's homily referenced it in school mass yesterday. Place I teach CCD wiil recognize teachers at Mass.
pastor's homily referenced it in school mass yesterday. Place I teach CCD wiil recognize teachers at Mass.
Family mass, youth participation, and catechist recognition is what we have planned.
Thanks! Glad to be here to learn and share.
Week ended with a set of Ps taking Ss out of math & sci because not book and lecture based. They will use videos instead
This boggles my mind. At your school or in Louisville?
Although I now teach in a public school, I still like to drop into from time to time!
Looking forward to all you share, Christine!
Is there a Catholic school you can observe or aide at?
you're always welcome here!!! Glad to have you!
...blink..blink... your question assumes a difference between truth/reality and religious beliefs. ... ...
Seriously! Did they come in on helicopters? They just want to do the work for them.
I love working in public schools bc I can share my faith in so many non-traditional ways.
Joined 4 assignment & this is 1 of 1st tweets I see! I work @ Mt.Mercy University's library! https://t.co/2CtcOcyIrn
...Christians proclaim the Logos, the Creative prinicple that makes and sustains all has made himself known...
... ...ergo, there is no difference between the Truth and religious beliefs. So, yes lsns lean toward rel/truth
say their Ss doesn't learn via hands-on or through a flipped classroom (where they get 1:1 help).
And we need to get together and talk! Need to find an EdCamp or something!
Why do Ps believe texts teach?Learning happens when engaging Ss w content T's have a passion for
Faith formation with a Catholic world view. Ed mission of church requires STRONG academics and P partic.
I am very excited! Don't know what to expect. Taking with me!
I've nothing but positive support from P at grade school level. Sorry to hear this happening.
prior to us Ss was homeschooled
Public schools must be all things to all people . . . their mission can be more difficult than Cath. Sch.
Sorry to have to head out. Taking my nephew to his soccer game...even in the rain! Long day! Have a great week! God bless!
You need to pass out 's book Ditch That Textbook at BTS night!
Wait shouldn't h/school be more inclined to hands on? What kind of circus were they running?
and what is a video but a lecture you can stop, play back until you learn it! Just no faces.
Ok I will check it out. Maybe we can carpool.
Yep. Very challenging and rewarding.
Great week for we had our first Breakout! It was a faith based game. Check out my periscope video tweet
flip classroom doesn't work, going to an online video ed does. Almost laughed out loud.
whenever a thought takes 3 tweets, its too much for twitter. I hope it didn't come off wrong.
StL is hosting their first Catholic EdCamp in Nov. Excited to have one that is focused on rel educators.

That sounds great, Marlise - all the best for a fantastic day

I grew up in public schools (Brighton, MI), so being a T in school is a blessing.
Lets get a few other T to go this time!
Just registered! You need to start presenting at Google summits with me!
I think that is one of the best part of our edcamp, Magis teachers & seasoned
once you have one under your belt, you will be hooked!
We'd love to have anyone at who is close. Don't have to be in the Arch StL.
I completely agree with you.Being "all things for all people", seems to cut out important details.
Attn all in SoCal- Sign up for Hesperia, West LA, and SD! I will be there!
Whats been the best blessing of the new school year for you all?
So awesome to see so many upcoming EdCamps in our Catholic Schools! Tag during your events so we can show you off!
what are dates? Open to anyone not in STL? Where do u register?
Thank you for your input and answering my questions!
Gladly! Glad to answer these or any more. Are you an Ed major at MSU? I was in Lyman Briggs.
Need to come help organize one in our Diocese!
small one...new student, not Catholic, noticed that Fr. wore red vestments on Wednesday, asked why
Cath. schools service all people not only Cath. community. Challenges not having unding & money
How many of you have done an day at your school?
I work for peach pie...with fresh peaches from your trees!
Yes I'm an Ed major. Hoping to graduate in May, then to do my internship year!
...joined 4 assignment & I see this!
Where are you located Christine? I'm happy to help!
The public school can be more pro-life than Catholic schools. Public schools take everyone.
Public and Cath. schools alike now called to larger and larger roles.
Blessing this year an awesome staff, great Ss and caring Ps
But we are always rich in donors and people willing to help out.
I'm a recently graduated teacher myself- Good luck w/ the year- internship time is amazing...
Should be funding not unding.
Best of luck on your last year at MSU. Have you been involved with St John's Student Center?
Done! I will even make a gluten free crust!
where can we see a list if them?
and I have discussed it. Now need to make happen!!
Chance to serve Ss, Ps, and Ts so they can learn and grow.
the key is a great team! Find 4 or 5 teachers who have the same vision.
Blessing this week- student asked if we could stay after Mass for Adoration...first time i'd heard that this year...
We are in the Southern California.
Thank you! I'm excited/nervous for the internship year...

Haven't heard of it until now, but thank you for letting me know! I'll look into it!
Yeah! Its just north of MAC and Grand River, um 327 MAC, I think.
