I keep switching between affect/effect and I think both can be right? How DAP AFFECTS behavior or EFFECTS behavior? Which? Both?
-
Why I can't get this I don't know! Im usually fairly reasonable about these things! :)
-
I wonder if it's a holiday there? Am here! Hello if anyone is up for chatting tonight please say hi and introduce yourself! :)
-
Hi guys. Just a flying visit - I'm on my first visit to my school tomorrow so trying to get everything ready!
-
Ok! Wondering if folks are off tonight- is it a holiday there?
-
No, not a holiday as far as I know... O.o
-
Also yay for a school visit! Is this for a job or as part of your university work?
-
-
Ok! Well I will give a few more minutes and just share some resources on the topic if we are slow tonight! :)
-
this is part of my uni course. I'm spending time with a Primary 5 class :)
-
Good Luck getting everything ready!!
-
Oh very exciting!! Are you doing a lesson?
-
Thank you! I will be doing lessons soon, but not tomorrow - is just for getting to know the school, teachers, chn
-
hey...Sorry am I late? My first !! I'm Sarah π xx
-
-
Hi Sarah! Heidi here in NJ, USA! :) Where are you from?
-
-
and I'm Michelle from Scotland :)
-
That's fine! Looks like we are having a slow night tonight! :) Some nights are buzzing busy but not tonight! :)
-
hi Heidi...I'm in Suffolk, UK
-
-
I am still learning my England geography! Have you been to chat as well?
-
Yeah, not sure what's happened to everyone!
-
Ahh ok...well I'm looking forward to tonight's chat
-
OOooo hello!! :) Are you sick?
-
I'm the most easterly point in England... yes I have, but was poorly last wk
-
Oh great! Now what do you teach? I thought I was reception for 3 years but Im year 1! haha Lost in translation! :)
-
Near the original Jersey?! :)
-
Ok so lets get started with a few questions: How does DAP (developmentally appropriate practice) affect classroom behavior?
-
it allows chn to see their own personal development and improvement - building self esteem
-
It is so hard to get up and get going in the winter! How are you otherwise? How is your son?
-
RT it allows chn to see their own personal development and improvement - building self esteem
-
Do you say "DAP" in UK? Or how do you say?
-
I suppose we call it the same? Maybe linking it with differentiation for more able/ struggling chn
-
A classroom firmly grounded in child development speaks directly to where each child is and validates their experience
-
I'm a childminder...so anywhere from 6 months to 13 years old
-
Yes! children who are struggling need extra time for play, or games that address needs!
-
-
or to change the instructions/ pace of the learning where appropriate
-
I see! So does childminder mean not formal school? Or more like children come and go? What is the structure?
-
That's a huge one! Keeping the classroom varied, moving, constantly shifting towards child's interests- tiring!
-
Thank you!! This is so helpful!! :) So hard to learn every place!!
-
Do you have multi-age groups?
-
no not school...different ages at different times of day. However we follow the same curriculum. I β€ what I do!!
-
yes...during the day under 5s, before and after school children too. So a big mix of ages
-
These ladies have fantastic resources out there! Treasures! Also
-
I taught after school for years! I loved multi ages! Is a really interesting model!
-
I suppose so...it's planning around the child's interests and development level
-
thank you...am following all
-
It's when child's needs aren't addressed or aren't given appropriate boundaries that classroom management bumps up to behavior
-
it's amazing...I love seeing how they interact and help each other! Like having one big family
-
ie for Early Years, constant moving is so important! I find myself keeping them on rug too long all the time. Got to get up!!
-
Yes!! That's what it turns into- is really sweet! A one-room school house! Older cares for younger- loved that!
-
couldn't agree more...there is always an unmet need where behaviour is concerned
-
In the CfE, the principles of curric design include coherence, relevance, personalisation & progression...
-
... all of these link into our ability to plan for and support individual children's needs.
-
How old is he now?! I know it is late there! I am so glad to see you! :)
-
-
I don't say sit still...I say sit comfortably. Some lay, fiddle ribbon, squash a beanbag etc. But whatever works
-
Ears burning after a fabulous day with kindergartens outdoors!
-
it's a tough job some days. But wouldn't change it!! Every day is a learning opportunity
-
I know! Sometimes I just look out at them and even when they are still they are MOVING!! :)
-
-
RT Ears burning after a fabulous day with kindergartens outdoors!
-
I hope I get to do some outdoor learning as I get more into my placements!
-
Yes! It's a favorite topic on for sure1 We put it in as regular topic few years ago and is FAB
-
So I am thinking we wrap up a bit early tonight if that's ok w you two?
-
Big passion of mine. Ever since I worked in a nature nursery and saw the many benefits of getting outdoors
-
of course! I'm supposed to be doing work anyway >.<
-
I know is anxious to get ready for her day tomorrow and seems a quiet night so maybe end early?
-
At circle time I will ask pre-K to show how their bodies are ready for listening
-
Planning in the early years is about meeting young childrenβs needs so that they can play and learn happily in ways which 1/2
-
will help them develop skills and knowledge across theΒ Prime and Specific areas of learning in the EYFS 2/2
-
I love outdoor play activities
-
True! But I do think there's a big difference between "listening" and "listening behavior"! :)
-
no problem at all...I've got a half 6 start so an early night would help π
-
Many children can imitate the "behavior" of listening but aren't. Moving helps listening!
-
Ok! Sorry we were slow tonight! Come back next week if you can! Should be lively! Outdoor topic!
-
sometimes children need to 'do' something when listening...improves concentration
-
Brilliant. Look forward to it :) Have a fab week everyone. Hope to see you at 8pm on Wed for
-
In meantime, for more on movement and critical place in , read and follow FANTASTIC resource!!
-
Oh yes...definitely be back next week!! is a good topic π
-

-
just popping in to say hi! I'm doing a course at the moment called 'every child a mover'. Movement =brain connections!
-

-
yes agreed, fidgets help too.
-
Ok! Early night Join us next week for Outdoor Learning! In meantime rest up and be well!
-
-
Yes! Moving is the primary way children take in and process information!
-
-
Have an amazing week everyone!! π
-
Lovely Sarah! Exactly!! Yes!! When are you too old for puddles? Too often answer is 3! Or 4! Or 5yrs old!
-
Oh please do!! I think it's one of the most important topics out there as we force more upon younger!

I'm never too old for puddle jumping ππ
