You sent out some great reminders! I'll try to get at least one other person from my district to join next time!
-
Took Jo Boaler's How to Learn Math course online
-
I joined Twitter! So great connecting & sharing with other educators (& excited to expand PLN with other AK educators!)
-
Do you recommend the course? Where did you find it?
-
Signed up for online Masters program Curric Instr Assessmt.
-
A1: Been playing around with a bunch of cool apps for math (most are great for any subject)
-
I finally set up tweet deck as Tammy recommended in February
-
I took a great math class through UAS online! Couldn't believe 5 of us could collaborate like that online!
-
-
Be prepared to share your favorite tools and tell us what you like about them and what you’d like to be different.
-
-
I got lightbot which is a cool beginning coding app. Love coding, can't wait to integrate it!
-
Q2: Liking Google Keep & Dayboardl
-
Using a task management tool can relieve stress. Writing down your tasks lets you stop trying to remember it.
-
Just adding Google Keep now! Thanks!
-
My 4th graders used Scratch last year and loved it!
-
Virgil fredenberg at UAS did an amazing problem solving class! Highly recommend taking it!
-
A2 https://t.co/iy0QQqnn6c
-
-
A2: Google Keep is popular! Love the way Google tools work together. Tell me about Dayboard
-
A2 I've used Google Classroom
-
I don't use an online task manager, I'm old school with pencil & paper so please keep sharing. I'm making a list!
-
A2: https://t.co/Fp5rLQ2d11 Share tasks, multiple devices, also manage offline, works with Google Cal, email or IM reminders
-
Do you all use anything easy for submitting lesson plans/ templates? Our district is trying to standardize
-
A2: Not a listmaker, but also manages tasks of permissions slips & payment collection for schools: https://t.co/bLXCQWSGXd
-
-
-
Our school has teachers submit lesson plans via Moodle (unless it is changing this year)
-
-
A3: I use Google Calendar. Love being able to view multiple calendars (diff colors) and share calendars.
-
might be an opportunity to if there isn't a good lesson plan resource I know what I want
-
Haven't heard that one yet but like it's a Chrome add-on. I use Commit To 3 - list top 3 tasks. Shows mult devices.
-
I agree especially if they are up to date https://t.co/jRclkWjEKi
-
-
Being able to see colleagues calendars to make appointments
-
-
I still use a paper calendar. Haven't found one I've liked yet. I love ones that feature random holidays, fun for theme building
-
I use my district Outlook calendar - it's always open (because of email), syncs with my devices, and has invites.
-
A3 Google calendar for sharing n color coding
-
A3: With the right acct, Google allows you to create blocks for others to make appts.
-
Q1: went to some great conferences, including and conference. Also
-
Whatever works! Personal - Google Calendar & Work - Outlook
-
A3: Not a calendar but an awesome scheduling tool: https://t.co/LBYdJvBLx9
SO easy to find a meeting time among multiple people.
-
-
Remind me what Trello is. Know I've heard of it ...
-
Q3: guess I really love https://t.co/n2kZ2cMaS7 - best planning calendar out there and the private tasks keep me in line
-
Q3: Cozi is the best for using in a family setting
-
-
Still playing around with lots of them! Debating if Nearpod & Kahoot are the way to go or if there are better options.
-
What do you like about Cozi?
-
I love Twitter, it's a great record. Also pirate pad or google doc because multiple people can access/edit
-
And Desmos (website) is really cool for math! But I'm finding lots of other great ones as well.
-
A4: Anyone use Twitter with students?
-
it's an extension in Schoology now too. It's for project planning and design - can color code, assign, prioritize
-
-
My parents last year loved emails. At KMS we are doing a Facebook page for 7th grade parents (plus emails/calls).
-
syncs across devices - can assign cal items to family members. Also has multiple shopping lists, birthdays, etc
-
-
Wow! Sounds like a great one-stop!
-
Q4: Remind is fantastic. Instant comm with students
-
What guidelines/restrictions does KMS use 4 FBpage? I think it can be done well with careful use. Anyone else using?
-
I do. In AP Lang for an assignment and as a silly thing to do. Sometimes what I read is TMI so there's that :/
-
A4: How about communication through your district or class LMS? What are you using?
-
A lot of people don't have Internet or landlines so I have to do paper communications too. Use lots of pics so they don't toss it
-
we did a closed group that only invited people could join. Worked well & people checked often because they use it
-
Not sure yet (just found out about it today) but I believe it is mainly for sharing announcements with parents.
-
Same issue in my village school. Trying to get going. Most people have cells. Home/School liaison loves it.
-
I'm assuming only invited parents can see info/pictures. :)
-
-
Time is going so fast - pretty sure we won't get through all categories!
-
-
A5 Data collection tools must allow downloading in multiple formats
-
A5: May be old fashioned but I am for pictures
-
I have in the past and it was great and the students loved it! Haven't used it in a while though.
-
LOVE ! Of course, I'm a certified trainer so ... :) Who else uses? New features all the time!
-
I agree! I love colored charts but I love spreadsheets as well! :)
-
All the curriculum I use has a collection tool. I love the graphs & when it tells you specific skills a student is struggling with
-
-
A5: Some use Survey Monkey, but everything I need to gather can be gathered and displayed well with Google Forms
-
I agree! It is GREAT when you can drill down and see data on specific skills. It is so helpful to teachers & students.
-
I love google forms. Easy to set up & use. What is edmodo?
-
A5: Love the data that auto comes w certain tools. and the like. Great info!
-
Kahoot is good for quick surveys too. Seen it used for opinion polls or pop quizzes
-
-
-
My son informed me a few days ago that I have to use Kahoot if I want to motivate my students because they love it!
-
Q6: Diigo and Pinterest. I return to Pinterest more often because of the pictures
-
there are bookmarking tools besides the ones on your browser?? I do love Pinterest!
-
A6: I use 2 regularly: Diigo & Pinterest. Love the tags & clouds in Diigo and love the visual aspect of Pinterest. Share frm both
-
Edmodo isn't nearly enough for me. Really prefer Schoology for better organization and threaded discussion features
-
A6 ability to easily transfer to other tools.
-
Q6: Smorgasbord of them...save a lot in FB & trying Chrome Add-on Onetab
-
A6: Love the visual buttons on @Symbaloohttp://www.symbaloo.com/ Just need to get mine set up!
