Hey #stucentclass! First time joining the chat! Loved the theme, so I knew I had to stop by! Look forward to learning with you. MS SS T from Lancaster here.
Phil from Northern VA. Definitely a big sci-fi fan! Love Star Wars! Especially the expanded universe Predisney but also a big Whovian too! I teach 7th grade history. #stucentclass
#stucentclass A1 Lean in to the turbulence. A collision is inevitable- we are colliding with science- it is all about the embracing the vibrations of learning.
Sara from MT joining in #stucentclass! I was a huge Star Wars fan when I was little. I had the sheets, action figures, and often begged my mom to do Leia buns!
This is a moment in time where your students are with you. It is not a fixed point in time, choose to start each day fresh looking for the way to make a large and positive impact. #stucentclass@ToddRisser@ERobbPrincipal
A1. Love the quote. We were created to be right here right now in this time to teach these students. Make the best of it and do the best we can in every moment. #stucentclass
A1 Be present in you CR, show excitement & passion for learing
Be present at your kitchen table, show excitement & passion for your family

#stucentclass. Hello all! Cathy from Calgary, Alberta. Specialist, giftedness. Sci-fi franchise? Hmmm...not so much (although I feel that tonight I might be told once or twice that I am missing out! Ha!).
#stucentclass A2 I am not a planner per se- a frameworker is more like it. I like the Doctor wing it a lot and just fly by the seat of my pants. I change things constantly.
A2: You know I'd like to be a free spirit, but I'm more of a planner. That doesn't mean that I can't go off and explore something that comes up, but my nature is to plan-a lot. #stucentclass!
A1: This week in counseling class, we've been talking about being fully present as we listen with intention, not to respond, but to understand. It's life-changing! #stucentclass
A2: I like to have a plan, but I’m okay if we get sidetracked. Sometimes the TARDIS decides the doctor’s destination just like the needs of our students should too. #stucentclass
#stucentclass good morning from India ...am I too late ? Aprajita ralli this side I take history for the secondary school .. transacting the IBMYP curriculum
A2. This is totally me this year. Taking risks for Ss' benefit. Much more S-centered classroom.
Rocky at times, but we grow in our falls and through adversity! #stucentclass
#stucentclass A2 I am not a planner per se- a frameworker is more like it. I like the Doctor wing it a lot and just fly by the seat of my pants. I change things constantly.
#stucentclass A1. This echos my way of life ...so I put in all drama , enthusiasm in that one interaction I have with my Ss..they believe in just that moment ...the Magic of it.
I made a point to share the we can't listen when we're talking or doing something else. Hurt when the Ss would tell me their mom is on the phone when they're trying to tell her about their day all the time. #stucentclass
#stucentclass A3 Pretty much all about being bullied, having Dyslexia and my childhood. I share stories about my family and how we are all a bit off our rockers.
A3: I talk about what I am reading and what I am learning. I want my students to know and understand that lifelong learning is important. #stucentclass
A3: Students love to know that we're real people with real hopes, joys, aspirations, hurdles, dreams! I thrive on sharing who I am, of laughing with them and sharing the blessing of gratitude and life! #stucentclass
#stucentclass Last week in my advisory class we talked a lot about power, we lose it when we argue and lose sight of ourselves. We keep it when we listen and hear others, then we can make better choices.
A3: I tell my students all sorts of stories about my family, what I'm learning about, things that happened to me when I was younger. I have always learned through story telling so I use it when I teach. #stucentclass!
#stucentclass Something in life I am a definite planner. But for some reason in my classroom I am a total spontaneous thinker- I change things literally as I am saying what we are doing for the day
#stucentclass A2.thats me alright...I have been told I am a BIG PICTURE person...rest comes intuitively..sometimes I'd try and want to be very structured but then I stop thinking when that happens...I like it chaotic, running ,busy.I am a multitasker ..wonder if that's good
A3: I share with them shows I watch, love to make jokes with them, I tell them where I like to go out to eat, and some of the kids when we have free time I ask them about my fantasy football lineup! #stucentclass
YES! They also talked about safety when they were explaining why whole-body listening, fully present and without judgement, is important. #stucentclass
#stucentclass A4 Books and stories are the best way to get them out of their heads and traveling outside the classroom. But Skype and other media are also to connect to fellow travelers.
A4: I teach history so I try to take them across time and space by giving them authentic activities to support them and have them interact with voices from the eras we study! #stucentclass
#stucentclass A3. The best stories I can tell are about myself and mine , sometimes about the world but mostly all stories are about me...I laugh a lot at myself that helps me connect with the kids.
A4: Researching global needs takes them not only out of their classrooms but also out of their communities, countries even. Our favorite global project is our knitting service club. https://t.co/Me5ntUkm91#stucentclass
A4: I took my Ss shark diving with VR. I also showed them pics of my honeymoon to the Mediterranean when we studied Rome. Seeing actual pics was cool for them. #stucentclass
A4: Students can travel through stories, imagination, and also through amazing technology where we can talk, collaborate and work with people and ideas throughout the world. #stucentclass!
#stucentclass Good evening Brian. I think so too- the magic comes from being present and luring them in with the mystery and suspense of learning new things
#stucentclass Even just tinkering and building with play-doh and other makerspace stuff takes them out of the classroom and into their mind- its awesome to watch
My husband is a planetary scientist at NASA and he often visits classes via Skype to help get students outside of their walls and challenge them to reach higher. #stucentclass
#stucentclass A5 A lot of writing and reflecting does it for me. The more I write the more positive I am. I also mediate and find quiet moments to just breathe and relax throughout my busy day.
A4: I’m only beginning to explore @SkypeClassroom . It can lead to increased global awareness and international connections with others classes. #stucentclass
A5: Choose joy. It is easy to get down in the dumps but misery only breeds excuses. Find your excellence and don’t stop working to achieve it and improve it. #stucentclass@ERobbPrincipal@KGT_Educator@ToddRisser
#stucentclass A5. Optimism...is something I need to work on...I am putting together my energies to bringing that in in a clear cut way ...still not there
#stucentclass That is cool. We had Dr. John Charles at our field trip yesterday- he is from NASA and talked all about humans in space and traveling to Mars- it was very interesting
#stucentclass a2 I am a planner big time however (and it is a big one) ss should be so proactive that my plans align with their big time needs, like more practice time in language
Your smile is a powerful resource! Every day we get to start over, staff, students and stakeholders alike. Grace, growth, and gratitude are ALL important, intentional choices. #choosejoy#stucentclass
