A1 I go to outside events when asked, buy them gifts for things like their first communion, & spend time taking to them about life even during class sometimes. #3rdchat

A2: I created Literacy Menus for each of our weekly stories. I grew comfortable with it, but realized that the focus was more on activities than reading. Getting back to basics next year and promoting more reading, especially with authentic literature. #3rdchat#bethewildcard
At least once a week I posted a Google Form in classroom asking what students did over the weekend. I had different forms to keep it from being monotonous. #3rdchat

Question 3 The first step toward your creative breakthrough is to form awareness by honestly assessing and accepting where you are in your teaching practice. Ask yourself, do your students ‘want to’ or ‘have to’ be in your classroom.Share your thoughts with us. #3rdchat
A3: Can I say that it depends on the day or time of year? In all actuality, I hope more than anything they WANT to be in my room because they are excited to learn something new and be in a place where they are the master of their learning. #3rdchat
A3: Breakthroughs are found through the iteration of good teaching practices. You have to be willing to commit to a practice over time. That's when the breakthrough happens. Breakthroughs are not a one time event. They are fueled by desire and resilience. #bethewildcard#3rdchat
A3 Being honest, some days s's love being in my room but at times I can see them drifting and going through the motions with me. I try to be aware of this and regroup when I see it happening. Just adding more excitement to my voice can change the tone in my classroom. #3rdchat
A2: I don’t feel comfortable with comfortable! I am always trying something new. I am also very honest with the kids and tell them, so if it doesn’t work, we try again. #3rdchat
A3: When I read this part, I thought there are times in my day I bet they would rather not be there. I need to revamp those parts. I am looping with my kids and really want to reflect on that. #3rdchat
A3: Right now I think it is a mix of "want to" and "have to." I think we had an amazing learning community last year, but I know we had ups and downs. #3rdchat
A3: Its a mixed bag. As an inclusion teacher, students are usually only in my room for testing, which is nobody's favorite activity. However, my students like testing in my room and prefer to take their tests there over the regular classroom. #3rdchat#Bethewildcard
Question 3 The first step toward your creative breakthrough is to form awareness by honestly assessing and accepting where you are in your teaching practice. Ask yourself, do your students ‘want to’ or ‘have to’ be in your classroom.Share your thoughts with us. #3rdchat
A3: I get feedback from my kiddos weekly. Sometimes we assume they want to be there and they enjoy it but we really have to ask them! Feedback loops are necessary! #3rdchat
A3: I feel, like a lot of you, that students are engaged in some areas and others need work to get them there! Getting to know your Ss is the best way to figure this out! #3rdchat
It really convicted me. I had a great group and would have happily looped with them - we learned a ton and were a true community - but were they always excited to be there - maybe not. #3rdchat
I think we all have those periods if we are being honest with ourselves. I know right before Spring Break was especially challenging in our class. #3rdchat
A3: There are activities that should be revamped to avoid students losing interest, for sure. Student input on the assignment & why it lost them helps you change it for the next time. #3rdchat
I think some of my students felt like they had to be in my class this year while others wanted to. I want to make it where they want to be in my room!! I want it to be more engaging next year, and perhaps more student led. #3rdchat
A3: That has been one of my goals this year. Increase student engagement. I know what it feels like to be at a meeting that I would rather skip. I try to keep that in mind with my Ss. Sometimes all it takes is being silly and having a sense of humor. #3rdchat
A3: I don't want to get in the trap of "You can't please everyone all the time." Shouldn't we want to try? I work hard to reach all my students! #3rdchat
This yr I took on more roles & I was either out of the classroom or had somewhere to be immediately after school. Plus I had a very challenging class so I was constantly putting out 🔥 or keeping them from happening.
YES! I need to figure out a balance AND be ok with it. #3rdchat
A3: I don't want to get in the trap of "You can't please everyone all the time." Shouldn't we want to try? I work hard to reach all my students! #3rdchat
I agree, with most of you. I hope and think most of the time they want to be there, but there are lessons that have to happen that I definitely need to make more engaging! #3rdchat
A3: I know my Ss want to be in my room, most of the time. They know I love them and want them to be successful but I also understand that I have to do my part to keep things not only engaging but also empowering for my students. That is the key! #3rdchat#bethewildcard
A3) I do reflect everyday, assess based on student response, engagement and learning. I can totally feel when the kids want to be do it and when they do it just because they have to do it. It gives me an indication #3rdchat
Yes! I really liked using that approach-- I was just talking about it with my teammate. I want to use it in combination with something else, I think. #3rdchat
A3: most of my kids want to be in class. On the last day of school this year all but 4
Kids cried. Some bawling because they didn’t want the year to end. Either did I. #3rdchat
Question 4 Hope and Wade challenge us to change our internal dialogue to empower rather than degrade ourselves. What will your internal dialogue be about your growth area? #3rdchat#bethewildcard
A3: I agree with most of you, I hope and think most of the time they want to be there. However, there are lessons that definitely need to be more engaging #3rdchat
I loved that it was connected to our reading series and the students caught on to that quickly! I could see needing something else though, too. #3rdchat
A4 Just do it! Even if a lesson is a flop the kids will be excited and engaged. That leads to true learning. If it flops, you will have tons of ideas on how to do it even better next time! #3rdchat
A4: In my mind, I am always the underdog. I take all that negative energy and put it behind me. I can't let it get out in front and stop me. Instead, it pushes me forward and makes me stronger. #3rdchat#Bethewildcard
A4: I CAN do this. I WILL do this. There is nothing that can STOP me from making the magic of learning happen for my students. I will take captive time and take back control of where I need to grow. #3rdchat
A4: Always step further. Assess where I am at, take a step, one at a time. Always moving toward improvement, but never getting to the goal, be okay with that. #3rdchat
A3) #3rdchat I would love to think that ALL my students WANT to be there, but really I believe that I have some that would prefer to be playing Fortnite!
One thing I did this year was to create a circle map with my class of different ways they could show their learning. We added (and removed) throughout the year. When we started a project, we could look at the map for ideas. #3rdchat
A3: After a lot of changes the past several years and making my classroom become student centered and not adult centered it has made my students want to be in my classroom. We are no where near perfect or not where I want to be yet but we continue to grow! #3rdchat
One thing I did this year was to create a circle map with my class of different ways they could show their learning. We added (and removed) throughout the year. When we started a project, we could look at the map for ideas. #3rdchat
You should check out novel engineering.. we did a little of that in my classroom this year and the design and higher level thinking my kiddos did this year was AMAZING! #3rdchat
Let me look through my phone. I have a ton of pics. If I find it I will send it to you. If not, I will remember to take one this year when we do it. One thing that stood out was how many non-digital ways they had on there. #3rdchat
A4: I love JUST KEEP SWIMMING from Finding Nemo! It helped me through some challenging times this year! I think I might have even helped some Ss learn how to do that, too! #3rdchat
A 4: I agree with @DonnaWeth I love to try new things with the kids! It doesn’t always work out the first time and half the time I am figuring it out with them (Technology) but they go along for the ride and even help! We learn together. #3rdchat
A4: My inner dialogue would be the following: Eunice, You have the super power to make a difference. I have the power to change my students mindset. I am a leader and I will create leaders. #3rdchat
A4) #3rdchat I try to think about if my own children were in my classroom, would they want to be there or do they have to be there? I want them to continue to love learning.
A4 my classroom has always been my safest & happiest place. Nothing is@off limits there & failures are faced head on. I reflect daily to keep it all positive in the class & with my practice. #3rdchat
A4) Totally agree on that.I believe every experience is an opportunity to stretch and grow. I have noted and hand lettered this quote and this will be my internal dialogue. If I try something new, it's a learning experience even if it did not work out. #3rdchat
A5 My why is wanting every child to know that they matter. I want them to have an adult in their life who truly notices them, appreciates them for who they are, and is willing to hold them accountable and push them to grow. All the things I wanted as a kid. #3rdchat
A5: Why? = I believe school is an experience. It should be an experience that teaches students just as much about themselves as it does about the academics. That experience should include a sense of community, where students are loved and believed in. #3rdchat#Bethewildcard
Question 4 Hope and Wade challenge us to change our internal dialogue to empower rather than degrade ourselves. What will your internal dialogue be about your growth area? #3rdchat#bethewildcard

A5: My "why" is I want Ss to love learning. School should be a place they love, not dread. I want to be part of the reason they love school and learning! #3rdchat
A5: I truly want them to love the act of learning. I want it to give them the keys to learning, engaged and real, in my classroom and beyond my classroom. This is my why. #3rdchat
A5: I teach for the money (j/k 😜) I really teach to make a difference in my kiddos lives. I want them to know that they are safe and loved and that they will always have someone rooting for them to succeed! #3rdchat
A5: Why? = I believe school is an experience. It should be an experience that teaches students just as much about themselves as it does about the academics. That experience should include a sense of community, where students are loved and believed in. #3rdchat#Bethewildcard
A5: To help Ss find their passion - their hidden treasures and help them to see their own potential. To give them the tools that will break destructive cycles in their families. To help them see themselves as part of something bigger - contributing members of society. #3rdchat
A5) #3rdchat I'm addicted to that 'A Ha' moment that my students have, I love hearing them get excited, it makes me feel like I have a purpose in life!
A5: My why is the kids. I want all kids to have a safe learning environment. I want them to desire to learn more, 2 do things they never thought they could, and 2 know that they are SO loved if not by anyone, then by me. They're our future & they need to know they matter #3rdchat
A4: Get out my comfort zone and continue to ignore any self doubt(that pesky Joker) and work to take small steps to accomplish goals I’ve been putting off for so long. #3rdchat
Thanks, Donna. Definitely stretching myself here trying hand lettering, shared with my Ss. They were amazed that their teacher is also practicing handwriting :) & now are able to make connections how the fonts went in their iPad apps #3rdchat.
A5: My "why" is creating a love for learning and the doors it opens for a lifetime in my students. I also want them to know they are loved and that they all have an important place in the world. #3rdchat
Question 6 The second step toward your creative breakthrough as an educator is desire.Once you have self assessed and accepted where you are the desire to become a more effective educator will grow. What can you do right now to act on your desire for professional growth? #3rdchat
A5: Empowering students which in turn empowers their families. Working to show students they are capable of accomplishing anything. I’ve been doing this with integrating digital tools with reading focus! #3rdchat
A5: My WHY started out as loving kids and wanting to help them develop a love for learning. I still want to help them find their passions, but now I want to be hope for kids to have a better life. To be the reason for Ss to live, be happy, and love the world around them. #3rdchat

A6: I long to help teachers and students be better. Starting my masters in school leadership is going to stretch me but I know I am going to grow and realize what kind of leader I want to become in the future. #3rdchat
Why? I want my littles to know they can accomplish anything. I want to teach them that through hard work and determination they can change the cards that they were dealt! #3rdchat
A6: For me, it is owning my own professional learning. I am not waiting to "be developed." I am constantly searching for ideas and people to challenge and inspire me to try new things. Building my PLN one connection at a time. #3rdchat

A5: Why? I want my littles to know they can accomplish anything. I want to teach them that through hard work and determination they can change the cards that they were dealt! #3rdchat
A6: What an exciting time to be an educator! So many great resources! So many teacher leaders, books, blogs, etc.... if you can't find a way to grow and teachers with whom to connect- you aren't trying!! #3rdchat
A6: I feel like this is an important part of growth, learning from my PLN! I am always so inspired by other educators! You CAN teach an old dog new tricks, and I am proof of it! #3rdchat

A6: Surround yourself with people, ideas and things that will inspire you. Step out of boxes, dream and come up with new ways of doing things. #3rdchat

A7: When I entered the world of #edcamp experiences, my outlook on creativity completely changed. I am looking forward to trying to things that are still on my list and hearing about your awesome ideas as well! #3rdchat

A6: I love connecting with my PLN, too! The summer is a great time for me to plan and think ahead without feeling rushed! I'm trying to use my time wisely! #3rdchat
A7: I started small with a mini room transformation by creating badges for my students to help them investigate how to answer written comprehension questions. During our investigation time, students were required to wear it as well as any guests in our room! #3rdchat
A6) I am a learner & stretch myself to learn something new everyday. Being a sub-teacher, I generally don't get to attend any school PDs. But that does not stop me from learning. I learn from PLN on twitter, MOOCs available, podcasts and do my own PD #3rdchat
A8. Creating a website that corresponds to the Saturday morning #BookCampPD chat was tons of work but, creatively, LOTS of fun. If you would like to check it out --> https://t.co/S5pzTtgW6A#3rdchat
A7: I use to panic if I introduced almost anything that involved technology. Now I welcome the challenge! I love learning and want my Ss to feel the same way. #3rdchat#bethewildcard
A7: One creative breakthrough my team had this year was to do a test prep luau themed classroom - we tried to combine work in a fun setting! Adding new tech to my activites helped a lot this year, too! #3rdchat
A7: Allowing my students more choice in their learning was a big step for me. Adding technology that enhanced our learning (@Flipgrid & @Seesaw ) and not just replaced a worksheet. #3rdchat
A7: App Smashing- I purchased a Green screen and the @DoInkTweets app. We made videos on @Flipgrid for our #Gridpals. Then we used @Skype to live chat. I didn’t even know how to use any of these before this year! #3rdchat
Honestly, I was more creative when I had a close friend (from far away) who planned and collaborated with me. We did some special, purposeful things. I need that in 3rd grade. #3rdchat
Question 8 How can you take something that isn’t characteristic of your current teaching style and change it by offering a different type of learning experience? #3rdchat#bethewildcard

A8: Speak w/ other professionals who may be an expert in that area or have a style matching the content. I ask if we can co-teach the lesson, so that the students experience the content best. I can also learn from my colleague. Learning isn't disrupted. #3rdchat#bethewildcard
A7: Fir the last 3 years of my teacher career I was so scared to step out of the norm, e.g. paper, text and pencils. This year I made a small change but it was worth it. I incorporated more technology in my lessons. #3rdchat

A7 bring in more fun hands on math lessons, it’s a small but important step. I love technology and I try and use it as much as possible, but sharing Chromebooks makes it tough. #3rdchat
Collaborate with someone who is doing things you want to try. Allow them to mentor you, help you through. Ask questions, reflect. Be okay in the uncomfortable. #3rdchat
