#worldgeochat is a weekly chat focused on teaching geography and global studies. Chats vary between geography specific topics as well as general teaching and education topics. ALL are welcome in worldgeochat!
Let's get started! We will follow the standard A1, Q1 format. Please be sure to include the #worldgeochat hashtag so that everyone can follow! @worldgeochat
I everyone! Ed, 7th grade geography teacher in the suburbs of Chicago. Very excited to have @Fight4Mizzou leading tonight's chat on Genius Hour! #worldgeochat
I am Bobby McCutcheon principal at Randall Elementary in Independence, MO. I am a former middle/high school social studies teacher and a #GeniusHour advocate. I am excited to be your guest moderator for the evening! #worldgeochat@worldgeochat
Wahooooo!! So excited for tonight! I was hoping to add #geniushour into my classroom this year, so this will be PERFECT! Sam from MA, and 1/8 of the AMAZING #worldgeochat moderation team. Excited to have @Fight4Mizzou to host tonight!
Hey #worldgeochat'rs! Chris from Illinois - 7th grade Global Studies & one of the many WGC moderators!
Dream destination? I'd say Africa. Or Iceland. Or really any National Park. This is the worst answer ever!
Let's get started! We will follow the standard A1, Q1 format. Please be sure to include the #worldgeochat hashtag so that everyone can follow! @worldgeochat

Hi #worldgeochat! I am Anna Mills from MA. I teach 6th grade World Geography and my dream travel destination is to visit the Skeleton Coast in Namibia.
Let's get started! We will follow the standard A1, Q1 format. Please be sure to include the #worldgeochat hashtag so that everyone can follow! @worldgeochat
We talked about Greece today in my class - my aide went there this summer & had so many pics of how the physical features impact the culture. It was great! #worldgeochat
Matt from outside Chicago, teach APHG and WH with geography added all the time. London is my dream-met my wife there and love to go back. #worldgeochat
A1
I think starting off with a question like you did @Fight4Mizzou - where do you want to go? What would you want to do? Get them to brainstorm things they actually CARE about!
#worldgeochat
A1: I think a great well for kids to connect with Geography or SS content is through virtual field trips, connecting with a class in another country, exposing them to different food and cultures. #worldgeochat
A1: I was always inspired by my social studies teachers (including my mom) who were ALL in. They dressed up, committed, and gave just enough info to make us want to research on our own! #worldgeochat
A1: Being just the beginning of the year, I am teaching two current event lessons every Monday to my fourth grade students. This weeks topic was on global warming & the daily effects of fossil fuels. #worldgeochat
Scribbler from New York City. Q1 The first time I talked to kids about Geography we talked about the #NBA. Why was a team in LA where there aren’t many lakes— called Lakers? #worldgeochat
A1: Get to understand what students are interested outside of the social studies content. Then help guide them towards their interests around the world #worldgeochat
A1: I eat lunch with my students daily. We talk about everything BUT school. Really helps me build rapport and discover what they're into. #worldgeochat Oh, and hi, Ben from TX. :) 6th SS. Dream destination? Winter in Hokkaido.
A1 Hmmm I keep thinking about the @GlobalGoalsUN#globalgoals and how one of them just might be something a student wants to try to help solve. Even on a local level.... #worldgeochat
A1 In my biased view, geography is so interdisciplinary that we can find something that ignites passion. Especially if you get organize conceptually. That and #geographyCanCTEToo#worldgeochat
A1 Ss need exposure to more world issues. Current events, case studies, and projects that are aimed towards ACTION will help them connect and find their passions. They also need to have a creative outlet in order to connect to the issue. #worldgeochat
A1: have them create something they care about using a medium of their choice (LEGOs, play-dough, videos) and then have them explain why they are passionate about the topic and why they chose the presentation style (like a UDL-PBL) #worldgeochat
Have them do heart maps to learn what they are passionate about then help students make the connections to what we are studying. There are so many usually! #worldgeochat
Echo! I’d also add that having educators who are unafraid to go all in—to risk being vulnerable by being passionate—contribute to social/emotional learning by creating a safe space for students to be passionate themselves. #worldgeochat
A1: I have my students look at current events, and ask them how they feel, how does it impact them or society and what questions do they have about the topic to guide their interest. #worldgeochat
Hello, #worldgeochat! Adrian from SoCal here — I teach #MediaLiteracy and production — one of my favorite spots on planet earth, without question, is Patagonia! 😍🇦🇷❤️
Hey #worldgeochat crew. Allison from #Ottawa & will be in and out as I am actually looking at the journals of the Genius/Interest projects from my Ss @CitoyensdeGlobe - :)
A1 show them primary sources and secondary sources and then movies (well, movie reviews or trailers)...yes, you read that last one right. Why does Hollywood make so many films based on geo-political high points (and low) from history? Good discussion point, I reckon #worldgeochat
A1: Allowing Ss to have conversations about what is happening in the world around them. When they find a passion we need to encourage them to explore further. #worldgeochat
That's how I did it last year. Limit Ss to picking a Goal to really go deep on. Then they need to develop an action plan to make an improvement for someone somewhere. I had *some* success with it last year.
#worldgeochat
Hi, I'm Salvador and I'm a student at UT Tyler in Tyler, TX. I want to become a Spanish teacher. I'd also like to visit Spain and Argentina #worldgeochat#edfb4338
Let's get started! We will follow the standard A1, Q1 format. Please be sure to include the #worldgeochat hashtag so that everyone can follow! @worldgeochat
A1 You might start by asking about favorite historical periods or events (history) or place for geography. You can narrow things down from there. #worldgeochat
A1: We did a few icebreakers in the beginning where we try to see what secret talents we have. I have discovered a few students passions by accident just from talking in class or using a variety of assignments. #Inktober is helping reveal some artists. #worldgeochat!
#worldgeochat A1 We are fortunate to offer many electives in our small SS Department. Classes over the Civil War, History of Rock & Roll, the 1980s and Baseball give students the opportunity to find something of interest that may lead to further exploration.
A1 modeling with channeling your own passions and interests. It could start with the very layout and decoration of your room, but it could be how you present lessons, share what you do in your freetime, show off any of your own side projects #worldgeochat
Keeping up with current events daily and allowing student to look deeper into the events that interest them most. #worldgeochat showing your own interest about what is going on the to model caring about what's others may be experiencing at this moment
Let's get started! We will follow the standard A1, Q1 format. Please be sure to include the #worldgeochat hashtag so that everyone can follow! @worldgeochat
No doubt! There are so many ways to get students to express what their feelings about issues as well as what they know. I know I would much rather see a wide variety of products then see a cookie cutter repeat paper or project. #worldgeochat
Love using Miracle to talk about the Cold War and then having Mike Eruzione speak to our students. Gets the interested in that time in history. #worldgeochat
A2: always bring my love of movies and board games into class. Compared Malthus to Thanos and are tracking Fireball Island as it crosses the Pacific from China. #worldgeochat
A2: I always bring my real life situations into my teaching (to an extent). I love spinning a good yarn to hook Ss into the topic, then setting them free to explore further. #worldgeochat
A2: Dressing up as historical figures (and really committing to them!), transforming the classroom into time periods-- when you are obviously passionate it is contagious! #worldgeochat
A2: my students will all tell you I'm a huge history nerd. I try to wear history related clothing every Friday and make a point to show my students. I try to make funny history jokes and make my class relevant. #worldgeochat
A2: Yes! Right out of #TLAP for this question. Sports, I teach APHG topics through the lens of sports and Harry Potter, things my students are also passionate about. I also have my year-long academic competition which is based around the CFP and Quiz Bowl! #worldgeochat
A2: I cycle to school to show my love of being active; speak of social justice/action via #GlobalGoals; share a bit about my travels; listen to people; look at comics & pop culture for fun & watch a tad too much @greatbigstory#worldgeochat#geniushour
A2: Simply share your interests, things you like to do - show them there is more to learning than school. Show students that you are a learner. #worldgeochat
A2: I am addicted to books, so bringing in stories with settings all over the globe, written by folks with ties to those places is how I bring my passion to social studies. #worldgeochat
I love starting small and then building — classroom, school, city/town, state, country, and, eventually, globally. It’s amazing how much we share as human beings when language, culture, religion, and all other classifications are removed. #WorldGeoChat
A2
Reread Teach Like a Pirate by @burgessdave. He preaches about how Ts need to bring their passion to work. It humanizes you as well & gives your Ss something to connect with.
For me, Ss can see my passion for water (and @h2oschools) pretty quickly when they look. #worldgeochat
A2 I've always done stuff without caring if 13 year olds thought it was dorky, and surprisingly I have found the dorkier it is, the more they usually respond... I would say whatever your personal passions are, flaunt it. Fly your freak flag, as @SamMandeville said #worldgeochat
A2: At some point in my teaching career I'd like to incorporate SS into my Spanish lessons. Maybe let them explore a map and do a project over a country or color a flag #worldgeochat#edfb4338@worldgeochat
A2: I love geography so I have a pretty high level of enthusiasm when I teach. I especially love Africa: it is my favorite! I show them the cool stuff about whatever we are learning, and I try to make it fun with a game or use art/drawing in some way. #worldgeochat
A2 Constantly create/share maps and visualizations of spatial phenomenons discussed in class. Past several years Ss have been creating many of these visualizations. #worldgeochat
A2: Story telling. Personal experiences and adventures. The more dangerous/crazy, the better. Drowning in Italy. Trapped in Jamaica. Detained in Vietnam. It helps to have traveled, but it's not necessary if you can speak with passion & purpose. Know your history 2! #worldgeochat
We have been lucky, due to the size of our school, electives fall to us. It has been fun creating subject specific classes for our students. #worldgeochat
A2 My passions are definitely reading, running, podcasts, and baseball. I'm able to weave 3 of the 4 in quite frequently. Love doing book talks in geography. Friday's book talk was Love, Hate, & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed https://t.co/ZhXCD5VWRa#worldgeochat
A2: My love for SS has always come from my patriotism and community pride. My focus to to be a role model for my Ss in how be an active community member. @Kilpatrick_ISD & our 5th grade leaders celebrate patriotic Fri’s over the announcements #worldgeochat
A2 singing? I mean a lot of kids love music, so if you're a teacher and you've got a voice and music is your passion, sing out and share it! #worldgeochat@Fight4Mizzou
Yes definitely. I think maps are interesting and fun to look at. I think they catch students' attention and help them learn culture and geography at the same time #edfb4338#worldgeochat@worldgeochat
In reply to
@scubagirl812, @worldgeochat, @worldgeochat
Absolutely! Singing, videos, music in general. The best thing is that when we show passion for learning in general, students start to share their interests and then all of a sudden we are all learning from each other daily! #worldgeochat#geniushour
A2 post pictures of my travels, my fav is students asking if this is photoshopped #worldgeochat share why I love to visit different places and learn about different cultures and allowing students to share their travels and cultures as part of the regular classroom dialogue
A3 My choice projects have been based on assessment platform, but not topic. I've gotten a lot of feedback that my student genuinely enjoyed making websites, producing podcasts, and designing visual products. #worldgeochat
Reach out to @CitoyensdeGlobe & ask them about my sad 'make up as I go' singing often to the beat of Queen or well, whatever pops into my head :) #worldgeochat
In reply to
@vicpasquantonio, @Fight4Mizzou, @CitoyensdeGlobe
A3: my students did s UDL on U.S. since 1945. They selected a topic from the content offered and then presented it in the fashion they wanted to as long as it aligned to the content rubric. I had graphic novels, poems, newscasts, speeches, mobiles, etc. AWESOME #worldgeochat
A1: #worldgeochat. The ideal way to help your students identify their passions would be to have a 1-on-1 discussion with them. If you can’t do that, a survey could help you find out what they like.
#worldgeochat A2 Speakers can be live. Fortunate to have Philo Barnhart and his friend Charles Moisant visit and share about art and animation. Philo is the creator of Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Here he is drawing Flounder.
A2 taking time to share COOL things and model being passionate lol. My students have heard about how I nerd out with my "internet friends" on Tuesdays #worldgeochat
A3: Our WG6 team have a project where Ss explore a topic that puts misconceptions about Africa to rest. They get to choose any cultural aspect of Africa Today, then create a website, play, newscast, etc. to show what they learned. #worldgeochat
A3
My TAKE ACTION FRIDAYS.
Students adopted one of the #GlobalGoals & immersed themselves in it.
They tried to develop action plans to help fight for the goal. Some were more successful.
Biggest problem was Ss who didn't love their goal at start and switched. #worldgeochat
A3: We has a student do an entire #GeniusHour project based on police dogs. He researched them, interviewed a K-9 officer, led a school wide presentation with the officers and dogs, and got to attend an actual training session! #GeniusHour#WorldGeoChat
A3 don't know if I've given COMPLETE choice to them, but some of my favorite products of student choice in project format have been a parody music video called Everyday Brazil, a continent created on minecraft with phys. features, and some great football franchises #worldgeochat
A3: For my #APUSH students last year I allowed them to choose between several projects including a passion project focused on US History. I had several students create remarkable projects/public products that showed high level understanding and depth #worldgeochat
"History is local first" might be the best thing I've heard today! This makes me want to learn more about where I live (home of Harry S Truman!) #worldgeochat
A3: This was a project from last year. Effectively researching info was a challenge & accurate info but they were selfmotivated & booked times to chat w/ me. https://t.co/kSscHKriok#worldgeochat#geniushour
A3: I will be completely honest that I'm blanking on an answer for this question. I know I've used student-choice before, but I'm blanking. sorry :( Can't wait to see everyone else's answers #worldgeochat
A1: Letting students pick different ways to present a project let's them identify their passions and interests. For example drawing, singing, using technology #edfb4338#worldgeochat@worldgeochat
A3 current unit ss became rainforest experts and got to choose how they wanted to teach the class. We saw skits, I movies, Google my maps, a website, posters, and slides presentations. And a kahoot. #worldgeochat
A3: I've given students lots of choice around topics and products. They prefer to focus on the product and their "eyes often get bigger than their stomachs" on the product. #worldgeochat
Q3: Our best example is probably the Create-A-World project. Students group up and create countries which share a fictional planet. They create their own culture, symbols, history, etc. So fun. #worldgeochat
My Italian class (Yes. I am student again) had an assignment. 4 photos of a person in your family, a vacation, a dream house, and a celebration. We saw the whole world. It was an incredible experience to see what all the students brought to the table. #worldgeochat
A3: Last year, the final few weeks students had the choice to investigate a topic of their choice and present what they learned in any manor they wanted. The only catch was they had to make a connection to our course work. #worldgeochat
A3 (part 2): My Ss had the same issue. They had ideas but sometimes did not know how to effectively connect them w/ #GlobalGoals or thought they needed to action something vs. being an activist & meeting their level. #worldgeochat#TeachSDGs
A3.1: I have done projects but not truly project based learning where students get to plan their own project. Last year for our Middle East Test I let students choose from a variety of projects: Poster, ABC book, News broadcast, Make your own test, etc. #worldgeochat
A3 Culminating activity fire rainforest project "how can we inform and persuade others to live forest friendly"?
Class generated ideas but everyone gets to choose how they want to get the word out. Posters, announcements, shopping guides, letters to companies etc.
#worldgeochat
They didn't like that I banned fundraisers. I told them to invent, innovate, or campaign.
Some ran into road blocks that I never saw coming - people who I thought would support them, but instead gave them obstacles.
#TeachSDGs#worldgeochat
Yes! One of our favorite projects, covered in our blog, is all about students discovering local history. Great stuff. #worldgeochathttps://t.co/2TznK5aXCR
Oh awesome! Glad you saw it! Yes so true the resources and things we have access to today make the learning just in time and so much more relevant....#worldgeochat
A3:2: Some of the projects turned out amazing and they put so much time and thought into it. Other students really struggled even with having a rubric and really had trouble finishing on time, and we had to come up with timelines to help. #worldgeochat
It's sort of interesting how quickly some go to fundraisers when other actionable items, including activism, can generate change if that's a goal of their project. Hmmm. #TeachSDGs#Worldgeochat
I've done NHD in middle school. Students can really roll up their sleeves, get into a topic, and delve into primary sources. Students showed they could do amazing things. #worldgeochat
Great point. Years ago, Ted Turner founder of CNN, didn’t want the network to use the word “foreign” —used “overseas” instead. We have to make the word less “foreign”. #worldgeochat
But I think they do what they see - a lot of parents are willing to write a check to solve a problem. Going out and campaigning is harder. #worldgeochat
A4 something like @cheffernan75 work with the #globalgoals and the aforementioned Take Action Friday’s are made for this and I admire it/wish we were doing anything close to that woke #worldgeochat
I love this TED Talk. I used it in my #APUSH class to introduce the course and had them identify a single story they themselves have faced. #worldgeochat
I did a student led project on sharing something that was beautiful to them students created such a variety of presentations to ideas such as the beautiful game by creating a model player, life and using clay to demonstrate the stages of life, art #worldgeochat
A4 If student products are created on a platform that allows for feedback from a wider audience or for them to collaborate with partners from another place, it helps to reenforce the skills they will need in the future. #worldgeochat
Love taking a peak at the #worldgeochat conversation. School work and fire department meetings are making it hard for me to join in. I miss the conversation with all of you.
A4: I think of them more as 'skills' in general but digital citizenship, creativity, curiousity (as something that many employers look for now - see @shopify 's thoughts on hiring) & w/ #geography, citizenship on a Glocal level. #worldgeochat
I hope things are going well John! Still enjoy the daily shares of all the awesomeness in your classroom. Your posts always give me new ideas and resources to try! #worldgeochat
#worldgeochat a4 There are a lot of issues I have with the all-google platform. But I have to say, it's pretty awesome students can share documents and collaborate together in and out of the classroom.
A4: I had a teacher do a Google hang out with a class from Florida, and they can paired the differences and climate from Florida to Missouri. #worldgeochat
Here is my only fundraising thing. You have to know exactly where that money goes. It's why I love @h2oschools -my Ss decided how much they wanted to raise, and what specific school water project they wanted to support. It's so much better than dumping $ into a fund #worldgeochat
In reply to
@nottellinguzip, @allison_fuisz, @h2oschools
A4: If Ts are the only audience for Ss work, then the Ss will only do work that is good enough in the Ts eyes. If we can broaden their audience, Ss are more likely to go beyond the basic criteria for the lesson. #worldgeochat
Hey #worldgeochat. Great convo but I have to duck out. I will be back & will also moderate on 10/23. #MoreDeadlyThanWar: The Hidden History of the Spanish Flu and the First World War. Join me.
https://t.co/0LeVQlQkUZ
#worldgeochat A4 Our Ss were able to participate in 2 cultural conversations last year. One with a class in Argentina 🇦🇷 over gender inequality & one with a class in Mexico 🇲🇽 over current events. Ss had to research & write questions and share with their peers.
I add in longevity too vs. a one drop and run opportunity. How are Ss investing in the change without compromising the cultural integrity of the organization etc. I over simplified it but hopefully it makes sense. #worldgeochat
In reply to

A5: We have used Skype in the classroom to connect with other classes. I want to utilize it more for experts and as a "learning" tool. I've also had students contact organizations through phone calls for projects #worldgeochat
A5 I'd love to incorporate @EBTSOYP talks or archives. Our science coordinator is coming to talk to the kids about the Amazon tomorrow. She spends time there in the summer. This is something I need to curate.
#worldgeochat
A3: The class I student-teach at are doing projects where they choose a Spanish speaking country. They get to choose what to present about it with as many facts. I think it connects with SS perfectly and the students don't really face any challenges #edfb4338#worldgeochat
A5 In this day and age with Skype, FaceTime, and all the other video chat services, it’s easier than ever to get an expert in your class. So then it puzzles me why I haven’t taken advantage of it more #worldgeochat
A4.1: Through the use of technology, collaboration and teamwork, students can reach beyond the classroom and connect with people across the globe through #mysteryskype, and learn more about other places. #worldgeochat
#worldgeochat q5 connect with outside experts. @Twitter is still my favorite. So many museums/experts willing to share their time with us to answer the simple to the complex problems. And the response time is usually before class is over.
A5
ASK EVERYONE!
I was able to Skype with @willripleyCNN a few years ago because I asked.
Ts have been able to Skype with @NatGeoEducation Explorers by asking.
People want to help more than you know - companies see our Ss as future customers! ASK!
#worldgeochat
#worldgeochat a5 connect with outside experts. @Twitter is still my favorite. So many museums/experts willing to share their time with us to answer the simple to the complex problems. And the response time is usually before class is over.
A5 something I always use as an excuse is “how can I get this person to talk to 5 different classes at 5 different times of the day or get a large assembly set up?” Both seem daunting and create hassle in my mind and then I rob kids of the opportunity #worldgeochat
It was one of the best things my students did and nearly every student was engaged! I think one student out of 60 did not complete and present. Even did more of a gallery walk presentation style which students said they liked better #worldgeochat
A5 I'd say tweet at them! Adults, inc even even sorta famous ones, can't resist kids writing them and asking them Qs esp for educational purposes. Students will be thrilled to see who responds. Also good practice in short writing ;-/ #worldgeochat
A4.2 The 7th grade T and I are planning a project together where our 6th and 7th graders will partner up via Google Hangouts/google platform to work on a project the focuses on Ancient India and Geography. #worldgeochat
Honestly such a practical read for the classroom and bringing in passions and student led projects. They also have a book called Empower. I highly recommend #worldgeochat
A5: I would like to do some Class Tweets to outsiders and also do some Google Hangout/Skype Q and As with experts in whatever field Ss are interested in exploring. #worldgeochat
Our students have google hangouts and the chat in Google docs already. Oh and they have fortnight- they chat on that all the time. Although I think they would appreciate twitter too. #worldgeochat
#worldgeochat A5 Mark Goodman and Alan Hunter discussed history of MTV in my 1980s class (they were the first to answer my email in 2013). Joe Piscopo talked about SNL in the 1980s and Actor Leon spoke about The Temptations and Little Richard in the History of RR.
Hi all- looking to try and find a connection with a classroom or school in Africa for my African Studies history elective class- anyone have any ideas? I used Edmodo a couple of years ago to connect, but have not been successful yet this year. #worldgeochat
Randall teachers are constantly doing FABULOUS things in their classrooms. What an exceptional group of teachers...the ISD is pretty lucky! #isdstrong#worldgeochat
Back again. A5; Skype. I have done nearly 300 classroom Skypes over the past few years. Details/information here: https://t.co/m4vtglqWFx#worldgeochat (I am told Ss prefer Skype to live visit!)
A5 Speaker came in from the district’s demography co. to discuss how school boundaries are created. Ss evaluated boundaries using this site they help create comp. demo, performance, and expenditures. They could not find a "fair" boundary. https://t.co/qATrwGPLKi#worldgeochat
A6: Our school has a World Geography and Culture night that students could present their findings and interests. Chances are, their interests will interest someone else as well! #worldgeochat
#worldgeochat A5 Do not be afraid to reach out to people via Twitter, Email or phone. Explain your purpose for them in your class and most are willing to help. We have had people say no, but you will be surprised how many will say yes!!
Then there is this story. China has half the world’s pigs." highly infectious swine virus is sweeping China’s pig population”
https://t.co/kFgQKSXWnO#worldgeochat
A6: Holding an event where the community is invited in (not just parents, but those from field where Ss put their focus) to hear Ss tell their stories about their Genius Hour projects. #worldgeochat
A6 I have asked my students to create a Google Site to display their work. The response I have gotten from parents is unbelievably positive. I constantly hear, "I can't believe a social studies teacher got my kid to make this." #worldgeochat
A6
Not to give too much @NatGeoEducation love, but watching @Curiosity_Films's Ss present to their village council was pretty empowering. I want Ss to do something meaningful - more than just the old school science fair model.
#worldgeochat
I don't play yet- I have a 5 and 7 year old, but I do miss my legend of Zelda days when I played for 7 hours straight. One day I am sure I will play again. #worldgeochat
Hey #worldgeochat crew - it's been a slice & so appreciate this chat. Remember to listen to your Ss, tap into their interests, let them explore, & know hows what they will acheive. Believe in the possibility #GeniusHour/Interest Projects can create. :)
A6 I have my students display their work on a google site. I have received a lot of positive feedback from parents and constantly hear, "I can't believe my kid made this in a social studies class!" #worldgeochat
A6 Gallery walks, presentations in common areas so other Ss and Ts can view, and videos posted to school or class website they can share with family #worldgeochat
#worldgeochat A6 We use Facebook and Twitter at North White to share our classrooms and students with the community. We are proud of the effort our Ts and Ss on a daily basis.
A6 letting the students tell you the best option of the showcase...they know best when it comes to ideas they are passionate about. #worldgeochat podcasts, 3D models, YouTube style videos, live, Google slides, critical thinking is knowing their audience to present the info
As we start to wind down the night, a HUGE thank you to @Fight4Mizzou for leading us all in an AMAZING #worldgeochat! I can't wait to get started on #GeniusHour
Hey #worldgeochat crew - it's been a slice & so appreciate this chat. Remember to listen to your Ss, tap into their interests, let them explore, & know hows what they will acheive. Believe in the possibility #GeniusHour/Interest Projects can create. :)
A6: My team started enrichment projects this year & we are planning on having a showcase right around parent conferences. The plan is to have completed projects on display as parents come into the school but the students would present to their peers during the day. #worldgeochat
Thank you so much @Fight4Mizzou for leading tonight's chat on Genius Hour This was awesome! As always I'm walking away with new ideas to try after hearing about all the awesome things you folks are doing with your students #worldgeochat
#worldgeochat Thanks to everyone who participated in tonight’s chat. Always enjoy learning new ideas from my colleagues all over the US and the World. We are all in this together!!
Awesome chat tonight, #worldgeochat! Again, I picked up a ton of resources from you all and I cannot wait to dive into them.
Look forward to next week. Thanks @Fight4Mizzou for leading us tonight!
A6 Here is last year’s students Human Environment Google Earth story project being demoed by Google at their showcase at a geo conference. #worldgeochat#EarthEdu
