Digital Learning Day is a day we celebrate the great things that digitally happen EVERY Day in classrooms around our country. It is NOT about using digital tools for one day... #Edtechchat#DLDay
OK - Warning to every company who is going to try to pitch something at #edtechchat tonight - we will unleash @nathan_stevens on you! Be relevant - offer a freebie - or leave us alone!
Ok question 1: What regular practices do you employ in your classroom that foster students' agency? Do you have any that are explicitly for that purpose? #educacy
Q1: On Digital Learning Day, we will celebrate the great things that happen digitally around the country each and every day. In what way(s) are digital tools accelerating teaching and learning for students in your school or district? #Edtechchat
A1: As great as #edtech tools are, the ability to make learning more authentic & relevant is far more engaging than the tools will ever be. Tech is amplifying teaching like never before. I LOVE examples of Ss connecting w/experts in the field to make learning real! #edtechchat
I think there are lots of ways digital tools have accelerating teaching. For example blogs to give students opinion platforms, skype penpals, animation creations, those are just a few that give students creativity they wouldn't have had before #edtechchat#CI5307
A1: Every day across our country, amazing teaching and learning occurs. Digital tools are an amplifier. They will amplify great instruction and speed up the rate of failure of poor instructional practices. #edtechchat
Q1: On Digital Learning Day, we will celebrate the great things that happen digitally around the country each and every day. In what way(s) are digital tools accelerating teaching and learning for students in your school or district? #Edtechchat
A1: I love seeing students "learn how to learn" using technology. We know that tech advances quickly, so it's important to teach our students to be adaptable, flexible learners! #edtechchat
A1 Students have instant access to information, experts, and authentic audiences. #edtech also allows Ss to document lrng so they can reflect more meaningfully. #edtechchat
"Bloom’s taxonomy is essential for teachers to identify student’s levels of thinking, whereas Puentedura’s taxonomy is essential for teachers to identify the tools that can be used to innovate on instruction." https://t.co/Dg93329yff#edtechchat
A1 Opening up so many more opps for Ss to connect w/ other classrooms, Ss can learn anywhere, any time and have truly authentic experiences, access to the resources they need, become #globallearners#edtechchat
Always start my Math support with either some warm up IXL math on the iPAD or maker space activity. Self directed and gets them in a math mindset #edtechchat
A1: Connecting Ss to others no matter where they are. Tech has allowed Ts and Ss to interact outside of the traditional four walls of a classroom. Increased accessibility and accountability #edtechchat
I love this! I think teaching students how to access these resources so that they can be global learners throughout their life is incredible #edtechchat
A1 The Digital collaboration is what I see happening the most Ss used to sit around one poster board, one computer .now Ss can each contribute with their strengths into group projects #edtechchat
A1: At the high school level the ability to replace the lecture model with videos has been profound. 11th/12th graders operate at vastly different learning levels so it is critical to develop personalized learning environments that meet student needs #blendedlearning#edtechchat
A1 I love that through #edtech students have the opportunity to immerse in new learning experiences, to learn of other cultures, to explore their passions #edtechchat
A1 digital learning allows for informal learning to take place anywhere , not confined to just formal learning spaces. Generative learning occurs! #edtechchat
A1 Large scale interactive active learning. Automation allows this type of instruction to scale to a far greater extent than direct personal action. #EdTechChat
A1: Students have the ability to be curious and to find answers about those things & ideas. The world is at their fingertips. They can learn about anything! #EdTechChat
A1 The Digital collaboration is what I see happening the most Ss use to sit around one poster board, one computer .now Ss can each contribute with their strengths into group projects #edtechchat
A1: Every day across our country, amazing teaching and learning occurs. Digital tools are an amplifier. They will amplify great instruction and speed up the rate of failure of poor instructional practices. #edtechchat
A1 #edtechchat I have students create their own @LiveBinders to explain what they learned so it makes sense to them after the course is over. So often students cram for tests & forget everything the day after the final exam!
Our teachers and students continue to embrace digital tools, but the greatest acceleration to learning has been 24/7 access to collaborate, explore and learn...one of the reasons I’m such a big proponent for #digitalequity#edtechchat
Q1: On Digital Learning Day, we will celebrate the great things that happen digitally around the country each and every day. In what way(s) are digital tools accelerating teaching and learning for students in your school or district? #Edtechchat
A1: Immediate access to info changes how we teach and learn. Now it’s about making that info relevant/meaningful and not just learning it for a test #edtechchat
Q1: On Digital Learning Day, we will celebrate the great things that happen digitally around the country each and every day. In what way(s) are digital tools accelerating teaching and learning for students in your school or district? #Edtechchat
A1: digital tools can work as an extension of teaching and learning. They can allow they class to connect to content unimaginable once as we break through the redefinition of learning. #edtechchat
A1 - Digital Learning can help students in rural areas have access to an online marketplace of high-quality courses. #edtechchathttps://t.co/YmporKzqUV
A1: Recently tried second grade science journals online. I added video links for further research and encouraged students to document their science activities with digital pictures. They used their pictures to make arguments from evidence.
#edtechchat
A1: Students have the ability to be curious and to find answers about those things & ideas. The world is at their fingertips. They can learn about anything! #EdTechChat
Question 2: What are some practices that you would like to modify to include more agency for your students? Are you open to suggestions on ways to do it? #educacy
A1. Technology allows for our students to dive deep into information on their own and at different speeds (individualized learning). Teachers can reach multiple students at a time without having to speak to each. We can MAXIMIZE learning. #edtechchat
A2: We can now make learner centered lessons that focus on student interest and a transferable set of skills. Content is now the context for learning the skills. Learning how to learn might be the most important skill Ss learn throughout their #education. #edtechchat
Digital tools can help increase student engagement in learning. For students with special needs, digital tools can improve access to the curriculum. #edtechchat
A1: well, our whole course is only possible because of embracing tech. Teach over skype, pull resources from Youtube and coding websites, IM office hours during lunches #EdTechChat
Q1: On Digital Learning Day, we will celebrate the great things that happen digitally around the country each and every day. In what way(s) are digital tools accelerating teaching and learning for students in your school or district? #Edtechchat
A1. I’ve noticed teachers do an incredible job pairing students with opportunities, passions, and tools that make learning more personal. Video is one example. #EdTechChat
creating a google classroom for individual students with self directed lessons, tutorials, digital media etc will allow them to move at their own pace to reflect their readiness. I am working on making these more user friendly. UX! #edtechchat
A2 give students a chance to share their voice. Don’t focus on that one tool. Give them options. Not every student is comfortable making flipgrid videos. #edtechchat
A2: I think a lot of digital platforms center around the students own creativity, so it gives them the drive to pursue more aspects of the digital world #edtechchat#CI5307
A2: Digital tools open up a wide variety of ways for students to express themselves and thereby foster learner-centered environments & student agency #edtechchat
Sorry - realizing that’s not very clear. :-). Here you go...
Q2: How can leveraging digital tools empower learner-centered environments and student agency? #edtechchat
We may not have to speak to each to get the info out, but it frees us to speak to each about what truly matters to them. Relationship building is so important! #edtechchat
A2 Ties into my A1. Provide multiple paths through digital content, allowing the student to follow their interests. Provide for collaboration and the creation of communities of learning. These can be done without heavy tech, but to scale they need tech. #EdTechChat
A2. Continuous reflection in digital portfolios. Can’t do this efficiently in paper format to capture all the agnostic artifact types. Helps student build onnprior knowledge more efficiently. #Edtechchat
A2 Allows for Ss to seek out their own interests while still building foundation skills My vision would be Ss walk into their school and explore their interest #edtechchat
A1: Digital tools can give a platform for every student to have a voice. Even the most quiet student can be heard, while those that often take over conversations can have a level say. #edtechchat
A2: #DLDay is absolutely about agency - which is something tech can really facilitate. Get the kids in the back row owning what they’re doing and having a voice. #edtechchat
A2 we have options available that help Ss to express themselves in ways which are more comfortable, that enhance creativity, communicate and collaborate, each S can find something that meets their needs and pushes them fwd #edtechchat
A2 Empower Ss by giving them choice & voice and broadcast those voices beyond the classroom in order to engage others. #edtech helps us personalize experiences to foster learning to learn. #edtechchat
A2: I recently saw an idea to use "podcasts" as a way to empower students. The result is public & students can re-record themselves to practice speaking skills #edtechchat
A2: Students should work at their own pace and reflect on their own mastery. Using a blended model ensures that students only move on to the next lesson after proving mastery. Students can now internalize the importance of learning each building block in a unit #edtechchat
A2: I struggle with using technology in problem solving in K-2 math. Recently, I had success with students drawing their number lines in Show Me then inserting their picture into the Google Doc with the problem. It was a challenge. #edtechchat
A1 When used correctly it allows students to practice metacognition. By thinking about their thinking when looking up resources, information, and using that information to guide their questioning! #Edtechchat
A2 I love doing #pbl because the students decide what to focus on, how to find their information and what they will share, it depends on them and they are in the lead #edtechchat
A1: Leveraging digital tools needs to be part of an overall pedagogy shift. Devices can be a digital worksheet storage hub or a pathway to unleash student genius. The difference is in the pedagogy. #edtechchat
Digital tools exponentially expand access, opportunities and S choice in showcasing their understanding of concepts, standards and knowledge application...this gives T more time to focus on lessons, relationships and ensuring each S has the support needed for success #edtechchat
A2: Digital tools greatly expand learning beyond the walls of the school and give students myriad options for demonstrating their own learning #edtechchat
A2: Giving Ss the option to determine end-product, Ss can use tools to capture their genius. I might have the greatest idea but am terrible artist; using tech apps, I could create a movie that would bring my ideas to life & show real learning #edtechchat
A2: a one size fits all approach doesn’t work anymore. #edtech gives Ss options in how they learn and how they show their learning. It empowers Ss to take ownership in their work #edtechchat
A2: Digital tools can allow different learning styles and strengths to be supported. Multiple ways to both access info, and to create new content #edtechchat
A2: used most effectively - digital tools can make any environment learner centered. And cam make any moment a moment to own learning - no matter where #edtechchat
Q2 in statistics & engineering using simulations lets students try their own ideas & see the results- without actually blowing up a factory ( just virtually) #edtechchat
A2: Leveraging digital tools can make it possible to further customize the classroom experience, giving students lots of choice as well as the ability to work at their own pace. Micro credentials can help foster productivity too. #edtechchat
A2 It could also help with the redundant skills that lay the necessary foundation which allows me to be a clone in my own room and not "trapped" #EdTechChat
A2 tech helps us remove the barriers of time space pace and place. Learning doesn't have to be contained inside the 4 walls of a room anymore #edtechchat
Q3: Research indicates that technology is most effective when used to explore, design, and create. Share an example of teachers or students leveraging technology in this way. #edtechchat
A2: Ss who are able to communicate their learning are more engaged & will provide a more detailed reflection of learning #frustratedstickfigures#edtechchat
A2 #edtech allows us to make learning more meaningful to each individual learner. We can remove barriers to their learning which makes the experience more relevant & meaningful. #edtechchat
#edtechchat worked with a teacher who used individual iPads everyone solved and then she was able to share with everyone what each student had done without identifying and students could problem solve why the strategy worked or asked questions about it
A2 It zones in on the most precious aspect of teaching...deeper thinking. I love when my Ss have a project and they start asking, "But, what if..?" YES! is what I scream in my head! #edtechchat
A2: Providing choice 4 students choice to show what they know Not every Ss has to use the same tool to display their understanding I have had some Ss make video games, others gave presentations, & others videos Its not about a tool its about learning & student choice #edtechchat
A3: My favorite example involves leveraging an authentic audience with blogging. @rushtonh first motivated me to publish student work online. It's incredible for motivating Ss to explore, design & create. Here's a great example https://t.co/kpcvoh4GIl#edtechchat
I appreciate that you included the disclaimer “used most effectively”... since digital tools can also inhibit deeper learning when used as drill & kill tools. #edtechchat
Q3: Research indicates that technology is most effective when used to explore, design, and create. Share an example of teachers or students leveraging technology in this way. #edtechchat
A3 https://t.co/raVHLoTDyS This website allows students to be able to create their own books and design how they want them to look. I think this would a fantastic tool to use in the classroom #edtechchat#CI5307
A1-Tech tools have helped to foster ss engagement. They are enhancing what the Ts are teaching and letting the ss run with it and think even deeper. Ss are able to learn anywhere and from others as well. The classroom isn’t what it used to be when I was in school #edtechchat
A3: Today my (college) class visited @elonuniversity 's Maker Hub! I think having the "maker mindset" when using tech & encouraging students to create things they are interested in, fail, & problem solve is important #edtechchat
A3 my S made 3D Taco Trucks as part of unit designed all aspects and covered area, perimeter, measuring standards in process...ending unit with taco feast! #edtechchat
Most people assume that a pathway to genius or innovation means “let’s tech this mother up.” It really means let’s process what we are doing. You know most car designs start out as paper models and clay sculptures. #Edtechchat
A3: The National EdTech Plan (NETP) describes this use as “Active” vs. “Passive” Use. The greatest learning will occur when the student in using the device in an active way. #edtechchat
A3) First time joining #edtechchat! Ss in my MS Social Studies class just completed a collaborative newspaper project using @lucidpress. Ss explored the tech features, planned and designed their content and their product. All students played an active role!
Q3: Research indicates that technology is most effective when used to explore, design, and create. Share an example of teachers or students leveraging technology in this way. #edtechchat
A3: In my creative writing class Ss explore different poetry themes then Ss write their own poetry centered around a chosen theme. Ss use #bookcreator to create own book of poetry #edtechchat
Using programs like Coursera for new learning opportunities for Ts and Ss. Using it for grad school and wondering why we are not providing the same for Ss. #edtechchat
A3 Examples of Ss exploring, designing, and creating can be seen in our use of #MinecraftEDU, creating PSA messages about another country, inventions to solve everyday problems, & creating badges for characters in our lit books. #edtechchat
A3 We researched. They explored their own topic of interest online and sifted through nonessential information, we designed a way to research through a hyperdocs lesson, and they created a blog that captured their questions on topic. #edtechchat
A3 students use simulation based learning to build their own work instruction to guide the class through an application to locate a source. #edtechchat
a3. All I know is that it's made field trips a whole new ballgame. Pictures and video to embed in hyperdocs that allow Ss to demonstrate in a variety of ways what they experienced and how it expanded their world.
#Edtechchat
A3 truly leveraging a digital tool means we don’t need a fancy, expensive tool for everything. We can create content for free and that creation level is where we want to be. #edtechchat
A3: In our book Learning Transformed, @e_sheninger and I dive into the research behind the effective use of technology and highlight places across the country where learning is deep! https://t.co/4MxbLtuUes#edtechchat
A3: My favorite tool is #googlesheets to engage students in statistical analysis. In prob/stats my students engaged in a comparative analysis of DC city housing and crime data by using spreadsheets to build various graphs and calculate key statistics #edtechchat
My day job is as a software engineer. Most of my projects start out as drawings on paper or lists of requirements on whiteboards. Sometimes tech gets in the way of communication and planning, even in the tech field or tech classrooms. #EdTechChat
In reply to
@nathan_stevens, @PrincipalNyberg, @thomascmurray
A3: I started using @Seesaw this yr and it has been a perfect way for my 3rd graders to showcase their learning. It works seamlessly w/ so many other apps so my Ss can really personalize their learning and it’s so user friendly #EdTechChat
🤪... just look at YouTube for examples! We’ve had kids use code to create greeting cards; movies to teach concepts; Google drawing to explore math in 3D. So many examples! #edtechchat
Q3: Research indicates that technology is most effective when used to explore, design, and create. Share an example of teachers or students leveraging technology in this way. #edtechchat
A3 KMS students are participating in Student Led Technology. Students identified tech they wanted to learn more about. They explored, researched and then they teach others what they learned. #edtechchat#DLDay
Q3: Research indicates that technology is most effective when used to explore, design, and create. Share an example of teachers or students leveraging technology in this way. #edtechchat
A3 I taught a unit where Ss used digital tools to plan their way out of a zombie apocalypse. Geography, Gov., Econ. Couldn't have done it without tech #edtechchat
Q3: Health students creating Mental Health PSAs, 11th grade ELA students creating good ol' PowerPoint presentations about a favorite band or musician, demonstrating why their fave is the best #EdTechChat
A3: Students create their ePortfolio using Google Sites & add new page each school year... their projects such as videos, Sketchnotes, Genius Hour projects, etc. are housed there too #EdTechChat
A3: I had an opportunity to use a class set of Sphero SPRK robots this term, and students loved them. After learning the basic movements and block codes, they were able to design mazes, games and more. They also had a chance to learn and create basic JavaScript code. #edtechchat
Q4: Share a growth moment. When was a time that you “failed” in using technology? What lesson did you learn and how did you “fail forward” for next time? #Edtechchat
A3: one of my favorites is seeing Ts of all grade levels use @flipgrid. HS: @flipgrid as an FAQ place: Ss post ?s & others reply (bonus: T can see where common misunderstandings are & improve lessons) #edtechchat
These are the areas where Ts can easily find checkpoints of progress during the learning process. Can’t jump to the end and check for understanding to find out where the learning broke down. Very difficult to do! #edtechchat
In reply to
@nathan_stevens, @PrincipalNyberg, @thomascmurray
You know I use to think that. But students need to understand what they are creating digitally. There need to be a balance between to the physical world and the digital #edtechchat
In reply to
@MetHerMade, @PrincipalNyberg, @thomascmurray
A3-I believe an example of this would be when our ss start passion projects. They come up with an idea/passion and research how they could make it better or enhanced. #edtechchat
A4) I remember failing BYT (Before YouTube) while using Macromedia Flash, I had a student to help me out. :-) But now I persevere and look up videos on YouTube. #EdTechChat
A4: Used to try out the new stuff with my afterschool tech club "Technovators"...we failed a lot....which was great. I called them my guinea pigs.
#edtechchat
Q4: Share a growth moment. When was a time that you “failed” in using technology? What lesson did you learn and how did you “fail forward” for next time? #Edtechchat
A4: I remember a time when I failed at knowing how to use screenomatic the screen casting platform. It took me forever to learn how to use it, but after failing so many times, I learned the best way to not only use it, but how to teach my peers how it works. #CI3507#edtechchat
A3 - Schools that leverage #personalized learning, can utilize digital tools to help students master their learning. They are in control. Check out how it is being done: https://t.co/UY58RMPesG#Edtechchat
A4: I can remember being 1:1 Palm Pilots in my classroom (really) and creating lesson after lesson because the device COULD do something, not because it was the best way to learn something. Fortunately a strong principal helped me understand. #edtechchat
created a self directed lesson on fractions but students didn't have the ability to navigate the instructions effectively due to literacy challenges. #edtechchat
Q4 the first time we tried to use Aurasma for a school event. Assumed attendees had the tech knowledge of a 2nd grader 😂😂😂 Folowing year we preloaded iPads! #edtechchat
A4: I didn't anticipate the # of login issues. This is always a problem with K-2. The more you use an app, the fewer the login problems. Also, introducing slowly in small groups helps with littles. #edtechchat
A4: When I first started building videos they were too long. Students were starring at computer screens rather than engaging in experiential learning. I learned the goal was to get the students to problem solving as fast as possible. Technology must be more efficient #Edtechchat
Q4: Share a growth moment. When was a time that you “failed” in using technology? What lesson did you learn and how did you “fail forward” for next time? #Edtechchat
A4: Not remembering to ask teachers to update their machines before coming to a session on new website - everyone started auto-updating and no one could do anything! Did lots of training on why updates are important to keep up with! #edtechchat
Running a faculty in service and used the phrase “this is easy” when talking about incorporating some particular tech. Veteran teacher reminded me it wasn’t easy for all and it’s more frustrating to hear that. #edtechchat
A4 Created numerous interactive grammar and spelling videos for Ss based on informal evals. Roll out day and wireless was down. So psyched to see these centers fly that I neglected the backup plan. Always have a back up plan. #edtechchat
With the increased evololution of edtech products and features, sometimes we see amazing possibilities, but fall short on what is needed to “get there”...there is no magic product or approach to S success, it’s an ongoing committing to the proven tools and staff PD #edtechchat
Q4: Share a growth moment. When was a time that you “failed” in using technology? What lesson did you learn and how did you “fail forward” for next time? #Edtechchat
A4: Used to try out the new stuff with my afterschool tech club "Technovators"...we failed a lot....which was great. I called them my guinea pigs.
#edtechchat
A4: I have failed soooo many times with tech. But I learned long ago to have an easy alternate strategy at all times. Be prepared you know! #edtechchat
Q2: allowing students to use the tools they know to respond to curricular questions provides engagement and familiarity, while also encouraging an attention to detail that might languish in a traditional text-based format. #EdTechChat
A4: When trying to “wow” a crowd with an unproven tech... it’s better to stick with what I know will work instead of trying to look cool by using something brand new #edtechchat
Q4: Share a growth moment. When was a time that you “failed” in using technology? What lesson did you learn and how did you “fail forward” for next time? #Edtechchat
A4: started using SeeSaw on the 1st day of school. Huge fail. Rookie mistake. Didn’t take the time to learn what the Ss already knew (or didn’t know) about Tech. Had to go back, rethink & MEET the kids where they were at. Lesson: think about the what if’s before :) #EdTechChat
A4 I created an awesome, amazing, interactive lesson and failed to share it properly. So, it took 15 min out of class time to get it all straightened out. #Edtechchat
A4 - was doing PD at a school - great lesson plan with cool new computer games, got as far as I’m Dr. AnnMaria- and the power went out #edtechchat learned to always have a non-tech plan B !
Q4: After my Ss watched their first flipped lesson, they told me they could not hear my voice, my microphone was muted. I had not previewed it and assumed everything would work. Now I Make sure to check for sound every time now and preview before I give it to them. #edtechchat
A4: using the screen recording feature released in iOS11 to show Ts how to screencast & explain features - only to find out that the audio gets stripped when added to Drive unless “smashed” with a separate app #recorded&shared28times #iswearithadaudio#edtechchat
Q4. I once shared a Google form to my entire district (leaving the permission as Edit) instead of sending it as a survey!
Hot mess in 3...2...1...
#Edtechchat
A4: Previous fail when unable to stream a youtube video due to school internet issue. I need to always have a back-up plan. Also, start playing the video before needed and hit pause to decrease streaming time when ready to use it. #edtechchat
A4 Our grade level is the first experience our Ss have with 1:1. A handful of first step fails have helped us to learn that fewer tools combined with playful exploration in Sep makes big difference for the rest of the yr. #edtechchat
A3. I’m inspired by this incredible student & the teachers who empowered him for using drone technology and YouTube to take mathematical learning to new heights. This 2 minute video is def worth the watch https://t.co/06fYcKw4Mb cc: #EdTechChat#EduDroneChallenge
A4) Growth moment- for collaborative tasks figuring out student groups= challenge! I attempted to use @padlet for a whole class brainstorm. Several smaller groupings proved to be more ideal. #edtechchat
A4: The first time couple of times I posted work on Google Classroom was awful. Instead of sending each student a copy of the work, I set it up for all students editing one document at the same time. Second time was no better. #Edtechchat
A4 #EdTechChat entire afternoon devoted to app that controlled Sphero, Dash & Dot, & drones It had switched to NOT being free I had no clue. I couldn't do the afternoon I couldn't update managed iPads . I always use it as tech doesn't always work for "tech people" either
A3 Google Classroom and FlipGrid as platforms, book club mini book talks for favorite Lone Star award books as part of the study practice for competition CTXBOB...SS exposed to flip grid and had to explore to create, learn about stickers, voice, respond to a peer #edtechchat
A5: One of my favorite digital tools is student created screencasts. Instead of using 3-4 days of instructional time with live presentations. It works great for scaffolding presentation skills so when they present live they have the needed skills. #edtechchat
A4 Does Snapchat count? actually 2 years ago, teaching Hummingbird robots, did not have a clue how to fix, I asked the Ss, and learned from them. Lesson = ok to not know everything...yet #edtechchat
A4: As weird as it may sound, for a while, I think my programming class overused computers. We should have spent more time talking about problem solving and planning algorithms, rather than just code code code #EdTechChat
A4: Lol! I fail ALL OF THE TIME! When you are always trying new things - it doesn’t even feel like failing anymore. It is part of the learning & growing process! #GrowthMindset#LearningCulture#edtechchat
Q4: Share a growth moment. When was a time that you “failed” in using technology? What lesson did you learn and how did you “fail forward” for next time? #Edtechchat
I didn’t know that! I will admit to making a few screencasts before realizing there was a way to turn on audio. I thought it could only do visual recording, and no audio track. Haha! #edtechchat
A4-It seems that any time I try something new their are hiccups. With each one I have to keep working and trying to solve the problem. I’m pretty stubborn. With each one though, my confidence grows and am willing to try new things more often. #edtechchat
A5: Some of my favorite tools that I like using are animaker, becuase I can create videos and design each part, I also like screenomatic, because I like being able to show what I am saying on my computer through a screencast. #CI5307#edtechchat
A5: One of my new favorites is @DiscoveryEd 's Studio - allows collaboration & is a great digital presentation tool. Love all the Google tools!
#edtechchat
A5 #edtechchat Tt tool https://t.co/Q2eEMLhigW Widgets you <3 all in one place, Gsuite to collab w/ colleagues Ss tool ADOBE Spark! DoInk, MovieMakers I think video is such a valuable tool
A5.1 Have grown to like @nearpod. Opportunity to present slides & videos mixed with interactive slides to gather feedback & gauge S understanding. #edtechchat
A5: One of my favorite digital tools is Mentimeter. This dynamic tool gives everyone in the room a voice, and there are multiple ways to collect feedback. It is a wonderful tool for formative assessment and data collection. #edtechchat
I want to drink a beer with this guy. Did not turn off the idea of learning a new tech to assist in the teaching of a skill for the workforce! #edtechchat
A5: I like Seesaw for K-2. Ss count and group quantities. They take a picture then draw on the picture to show how they counted. It works great for discussions. Ss can also audio record their PS steps with their drawn model & email it to me. #edtechchat
A5: @edpuzzle is great for building videos and embedding questions and #googlesuite is perfect for projects, presentation, surveys and data analysis as well as collaboration #Edtechchat
@Seesaw is our go to tech tool. I love the options for app smashing and the demonstration of student learning. They have control in the space and take ownership of their learning! #edtechchat
Students participated in an authentic learning experience designing a donation board for a non-profit. They had to research the facility, sketch the design, learn AI to send information to the laser cutter and collaborate with the planning committee. #studentpower#edtechchat
A5: Another one of my favorite tools is Timer-Tab. It’s not a revolutionary teaching tool, it’s a simple time keeper. For someone like me that gets off task easily, it’s a great, fast way to keep the activities on time. https://t.co/LFhJwnssB0#edtechchat
A5 I don't like a lot of the current tools, too much passive learning, so I build my own. Mostly using Emacs, an open source text editor. I try to use HTML and JavaScripr to provide cross platform solutions that can be integrated into other existing content. #EdTechChat
A5.2 @TodaysMeet & @padlet are some options Ss explore to capture their thinking while reading. I enjoy seeing the conversation about rdg happening after school ends. #edtechchat
I remember paying $15 to use a giant phone embedded in the headrest of the seat on the plane to call my parents from the air in 1992. It was awesome ;) #edtechchat
A5: Google drive is a favorite since it makes it easy to save and share online. Tarheel reader gameplay provides switch accessible activities for students with severe special needs. Google forms is helpful for quizzes and data collection. #edtechchat

I don't use it a TON, but when I need it, Peardeck is super. I project from 1 monitor & see Ss working (by name) on the other monitor & can give tips without wasting time running around the room #edtechchat
A5. I gravitate towards tools that support a pedagogy of student ownership & creation. Video production is a big part of that, and @TouchCastEdu has been my go-to tool for a number of years. We use it for green-screen, student PSAs, video-news, etc. #edtechchat
A5: I like open-ended tools that serve many purposes like Explain Everything, Apple Clips, Procreate. Also like Mentimeter instead of Poll Everywhere #edtechchat

A5.3 #MinecraftEDU has been a powerful tool for our study of history (OR Trail, industrial revolution), documenting understanding of Lit, and explaining #GeniusHour topics. Engagement and collaboration! #edtechchat
Very cool service to build interactive presentations, web based content (Rise). Interactive- students own the processes they put in the projects. #edtechchat
A5: Kahoot and Quizziz is great, makes simple things like formatives a little more engaging. Of course SeeSaw, we appsmash that with picCollage a lot #EdTechChat
Students participated in a learning experience where they designed a donation board for a non-profit. They had to research the facility, sketch the design, learn AI to send information to the laser cutter & collaborated w the planning committee.#edtechchat@jennyktechin

A4: Ha! This happens to me frequently. I am a self taught AutoDesk Inventor user. It is frequent that I don't know all the answers, my students have started helping me create a tool tutorial wall of commands! #edtechchat@jennyktechin
A2: #edtech can allow for Ss to be productive and independent. Not busy work, but authentic and collaborative work. This allows the T to work with small groups to personalize learning. So the human leads learning and the technology engages the independent learner #Edtechchat
Excited to participate in #dlday with Student Led Technology. 6th grade Students will teach their peers & teachers technology. This is year 2 for us at KMS. Ss have been exploring, researching and learning -they will be ready for 2/22 #edtechchat
A6: To celebrate I will continue trying to navigate the current ship I'm on! I have half a class learning JavaScript coding and the other half are creating podcasts using GarageBand. I will also celebrate by remembering that my class is completely paperless. #edtechchat
A4: boy, did I learn the hard way on this one: always, always check beforehand to make sure the tools you are hoping to teach with still exist and make sure they are available to your students! Log in as a student and work through the project. Never assume. #EdTechChat
