The mission of #TynkerChat: Are we adequately preparing students for an unknown future? Can we, through community and sharing, make this unknown “known?” Let us lift up the conversation about making sure that when our students enter the workforce- they have the skills to thrive.
#TynkerChat will be held every Monday, starting March 13th.
Welcome to this week's #TynkerChat! We're looking for great ideas to showcase the great #STEM work our students are doing! Tell us who you are and where you're from!
We'll be using the typical Q & A format! Join the conversation! First question in 2 min! This week we're talking about: How best to showcase #STEM at your school. Follow along on our @participate page here: https://t.co/JZuKChWjZP#Tynkerchat
A1: STEM is a new concept to many adults outside of education. It needs to be properly defined and to the public, that can be most easily done in a practical, visual way. Show the public how STEM is the integration of various core subjects. #tynkercaht#tynkerchat
A2: Find a couple of innovators on Twitter, talk with others to learn what is happening in your district and others nearby. Don't be afraid to #EduSteal#tynkerchat
Jess from FL here... a little late!
A1: #STEM has been around forever, but it hasn't been at the forefront of education like it is now and I think it's our job to really help our Ss, families, and communities understand why it's so important #tynkerchat
A3: Great idea to have a family maker night! We do an Earth Night each year and always feature a recycled product coding challenge with our @SpheroEdu robots. #Tynkerchat
Q4 Final Question for #TynkerChat tonight: what outside companies or makers would you want to possibly integrate into your #STEM event? Best case scenario?
Two months before your family night, invite local makers to showcase with your students. They often come for free and are very willing to share! #TynkerChat
