Good evening everyone! Welcome to the #ARVRinEDU Twitter Chat! Steven Sato and I, Amanda Fox, are happy to moderate this week! Please introduce yourself and tell us what your favorite #arvrinedu tool is at the moment. Ours is Kouji app.
My name is Amanda Fox, I'm an author, speaker, and CEO of STEAMPunksEdu. I love the Kouji AR app, and love making little zombie learners. I'm also a cohost on #vrpodcast. #ARVRinEDU
Q1: Where are you at with AR & VR in your classroom? We’re all here to learn so don’t be shy, tell us what tools and software you use and some details on how you have engaged students! #ARVRinEDU
Kim Murphree EdTech Trainer from Texas- besides exploring @MergeVR Cube ObjectViewer right now- I have really been digging @waypointedu AR scavenger hunts! #ARVRinEDU
A1: I'm a lover of @cospaces and have done a lot with that app. Using things like @structure to bring students into the space. Also who doesnt love @MergeVR. Just bought 10 headsets and 20 cubes. #arvrinedu
A1: Today we use a variety of #ARVRinEDU tools. In fact tomorrow, 5th grade students are presenting @cospaces_edu. This week we used @htcvive to take students into the human heart with @SharecareInc to prep them for their test on the circulatory system next week.

A1: Students created a virtual world using @unity3d and using @Vuforia we used our school crest as a marker that they projected their world onto #ARVRinEDU

Hey y'all, Gabe here! I am the Global Education Manager at @worldviz where we make Vizible for VR creation and collaboration, founder of @edorble, and also enthusiast of WebVR #arvrinedu
Q2: What would your #MoonshotVR classroom look like? Throw budget, space, software, skill set, etc. all out the window! Tell us what you’ve been dreaming of! #ARVRinEDU
A1: Currently creating lots of @TheRoundme VR experiences to make a more immersive and interactive experience. On #AR side- working to develop content connections with the @MergeVR cubes. And more Busy Busy! #ARVRinEDU
A2: If I had an open budget, I would have a lab of stand alones that are going to come out soon...Probably Santa Cruz, or Vive Focus (china). Imagine if more classrooms had this! Mystery Skype the next level!!! #arvrinedu

GABE! so glad you're here. I must say @WorldViz is doing amazing things with Vizible. I've tried it and I really do like it. Completely standalone no need for STEAM, etc. It's create and the creator is amazing as well! #ARVRinEDU

A2. Multiple device types for each student. There isn’t a silver bullet, so having a ton of different type devices gives more exposure AND brings in a lot of resources. #arvrinedu
Love this Katie!! totally agree #arvrinedu Katie and I that one time we could join in when an iPhone was not required and we could even use Explorer! @JaimeDonally@sarahdateechur

Q3: If you could develop your first #arvrinedu app, what would it be? Would it be content area specific or agnostic? How would students interact with it? Would it be #VR or #AR? #ARVRinEDU
A2: I would ❤️ to see a one to many not necessarily a 1-1 situation w/several devices to choose from- students use the tool that works for the product they want to create or the experience needed-that would be the ideal a classroom of creators and not consumers :) #ARVRinEDU

A3: I would love to build an #arvrindedu LMS. You can use AR task managment, with VR conferencing build in, with bank of experts/educators on standby. #arvrinedu

A2 #ARVRinEDU - my #MoonshotVR would involve having wearables that would allow students to experience #AR and #VR seamlessly. Powerful tech that makes innovation and creation come to life.
A3 hmm, something with foreign languages, like move around in the place, walk up to people and engage in conversation, experience what that would be like #arvrinedu
So Kim, while I get that I am not so sure that is 100% true with #VR. consuming #VR when content is of the impossible, impractical, rare, expensive, thanks Jeremy Bailenson consuming is fine by me! but yes let's also get create those amazing experiences @StanfordVR#ARVRinEDU
A3. #MR app that utilizes #VR tech to capture surroundings in 360° video and play them back in reverse, speed up, etc WITH 6DoF & inside our tracking. Or atleast utilize time lapse 360 vids in 3DoF. I don’t think the tech is quite there yet though. #arvrinedu
Q4: Looking at the immediate present and the near future from an EDU perspective, which will have more impact on education-- Virtual or Augmented Reality? #ARVRinEDU
A4: Right now I would def the #AR apps, and access are impacting EDU the most, but I am so hopeful for standalones, and the next few years to make quality immersive vr experiences affordable #arvrinedu
A4: #AR in the near, #VR overall. Simply put #VR has the ability to fully immerse users in an environment that can be 100% controlled. #AR is way more accessible now however for EDU I can’t see #AR bringing life changing experiences to Ss like #VR could ultimately. #ARVRinEDU
#ARVRinEDU A4: #AR is awesome but still limited to few devices. #VR is becoming way more easily accessible and will later this year with devices like #oculusgo! My money is on #VR at the moment.
A2: Self-contained trolleys with comfortable headsets like the @googlevr daydreams along with a 10-12 @Google#Pixel2 handsets. Teachers can then book the use of these trolleys for use when needed #ARVRinEDU
A4. Right now, #AR. Only because of accessibility. The further we get into #daydream and standalones, #VR will make its mark. I think both have an important role to play! #arvrinedu
Q5: I think in the future there will be global schools that leverage VR to bring students together to solve problems, and learn together. I think the virtual CRs and presentation spaces will really emerge in coming year. #arvrinedu
#ARVRinEDU A4: #AR is awesome but still limited to few devices. #VR is becoming way more easily accessible and will later this year with devices like #oculusgo! My money is on #VR at the moment.
A4: Good question #AR or #VR in the future? Hmmmm... Im just glad that we have both as choices for learning and it’s becoming so much more accessible for everyone right now! #arvrinedu
That’s true. But remember, #VR doesn’t have to be with a HMD. It can be on a tablet or computer screen. It isn’t as immersive, but still considered #VR! #arvrinedu#vrpodcast
A5 i think all these “realities” are such a boon for rural schools... help to bring to life places and things that students may never see because of cost of travel, etc. #arvrinedu
A3: An #AR app that raises awareness on plastic pollution. Place camera over plastic item and then the number of years it will take to decompose. #ARVRinEDU

A5. In our homes, in public, maybe still at school. It will truly be wherever AND whenever. #VR will also usher in ageless learning. Ss wont be grouped by age, but by passions. #arvrinedu # vrpodcast
I love how you have integrated the VR aspects in a meaningful and relevant way to deliver your lesson. This is the challenging thing for educators as it’s not just about jumping on the AR/VR bandwagon #ARVRinEDU
Joining a bit late. A4: 360 videos already available bring VR into the classroom now. Maybe not with headsets, but the ability to 'be there' on a guided tour is light years beyond what a textbook can do. AR options are still too limited. #ARVRinedu
Q4: Looking at the immediate present and the near future from an EDU perspective, which will have more impact on education-- Virtual or Augmented Reality? #ARVRinEDU
IMO Future virtual classrooms will look like traditional classrooms. Because that’s what they’ll be. It won’t be this digital world. It’ll be real-world but with #VR / #AR tools being readily available to the students. #arvrinedu
