Happy to join tonite! I'm the Research & Digital Learning Specialist at a HS in southeastern WI.
"exceed their own expectations" - so much truth in that!
Glad you could join us! Loved your blog post on
A1: Coaching and guiding is important as Ss learn to express voice and choice.
A1: Personalized learning would also allow students to develop skills in context
A1 Goal setting, planning and measuring progress are key practices!
A1 Personalized learning starts with the student and meets the learning target.
Context does matter. Great point!
I see so many teachers struggle with the assessment piece of PL.
It seems getting started is a a challenge, too!
I think whatever we can do to make students in charge of their own learning. Libraries are awesome for that.
4 sure! Huge shift and often labor intensive, especially at the primary K-2 level w/non-readers.
Same goal! Just getting there in different ways.
A1 students progress @ their own rate w/out fear of falling behind. No competition! (No "whadjaget")
A2 Our media resources allows for broad student choice. Individualized learning is our business
A2: Librarians & tech integrators can introduce students and staff to content & creation tools for personalized learning
A2: Tech supports & enables, allowing for increased meaningful and personal experiences for Ss
A2: our tech int & media spec are often more familiar with the plethora of resources available
A2 to meet the needs of a variety of personalized learners we need quality vetted resources that enhances learning
A2 When we collaborate with teachers, we often get the students who need specialized help. We're great at 1:1
A2: We can help scaffold information search experiences and teach resource evaluation
Mistakes are seen as part of the process of learning ā not something to be ashamed of.
A2 Helping teachers understand how/when to effectively use technology to personalize learning is critical.
A2: Digital Media /Lib. Specialist play a huge role in PL! They often provide the interest based materials that ignite learning!
A2: They can help individualize learning and make it meaningful. Support teachers in the classroom by connecting globally.
A2: Educator collaboration is crucial to the success of PL
A2: Sometimes co-teaching or modeling with students helps teachers over a hurdle. LMS and integrators are great for that.
A2 And we know all students, not just those in our classes
A2 We can practice "guide on the side" strategies with teachers & students
A2 They facilitate the use of varied resources that meet students at their current skill level and encourage continued growth.
This is so important--helping technology use to be thoughtful and effective
Good evening everyone. Looking forward to my first . Check out s New personalize learning innovation zone
What would we do without ? And the mindset has totally changed! Kids are excited to use it!
A2: taking on PL together increases energy & enthusiasm. Ed collaboration attracts other Ts that may be reluctant or nervous
A2: LMS also have the space to make PL happen in ways classrooms are limited! Library becomes the innovation hub of the school!
A2: I think addressing natural curiosity outside of structured classes helps; offering learning opportunities outside of school
A2: collaboration helps Ts craft meaningful learning opportunities for our Ss
So true! It's about selecting the right tool for the task.
Whoa. Blown away by the responses to Q2! Every admin needs to see how important these positions are in a school!
A2: The collaboration/coaching with teachers is my favorite part! We are SO MUCH BETTER together! https://t.co/U53udHonpJ

Both teachers and students love Wisconsin Media Lab!
I am still praying that all of that funding comes back! Hurts my heart that it was cut! :(
Agree! Funding prohibits this in small school. Math and reading take precedence. Admins/realize the importance!
Elizabeth, joining in a little late.
I thought I heard something about them partnering with Public TV.
I remember . My students loved it.
A3: We're having a DIY club after school where I can facilitate students earning their own digital badges.
A3: we've converted our LMS & comp lab into Learning Labs & maker spaces. Increased use of space immediately
A3 Library/digital media spaces are building in space for exploration, building & āmakingā.
A3 when personalized learning is in a school the library becomes the nerve center for information, not a place for staff mtngs
A3 Reorganized collection: more but smaller sections for better browsing
A3: When my school created its new spaces, we focused on flexibility and mobility
A3: We are working on flexibility, mobility, and devices--charging, loaners, and more!
A3 Genius Hour, Coding & Robotics opportunities
A3: I've seen many library spaces add to them! This adds new experiences and opportunities to design!
A3: Having a green screen, coding, and an inviting for Ss to share. Right now I have to create a temp GS in my class
A3: Including a variety of work environments - large group, small group, etc
A3: Encouraging "maker mindset" w/teachers w/in their classroom because our schedule doesn't allow much of that during library
Yes! The nerve center for ALL learners of ALL ages including students, staff, parents, and the community
A3: Learning Lab is an idea, not a place, but our LMS is a great place for all Ts to be present & support Ss
A3 was @ a great workshop sponsored by Pulaski Schools. Much happening w/reconfiguring spaces for learning ā not just the library
. Mobility is SO important! It was a huge focus when we purchased tables this summer. SO MUCH more convenient!
Yes, our remodels are including specific makerspaces. For others, carts of making!
A3: going 1:1 in most grade levels have allowed us to use our computer labs in more meaningful ways for students
. A3: An organized collection - online AND in person - is key. Resources must be easy to find and access.
. Library as the nerve center. I like that!
Pulaski is a great example of this in our area! Very innovative with their schedule and spaces.
The same at our school! Mobile furniture with lots of whiteboards & opportunities for plug and play technology.
A3: Chromebooks have been a personalized learning blessing as students can customize learning experience on Chrome
And then use too! Suggestions and sparks are sometimes necessary.
Do you see clubs at school having a role in personalized learning? Just curious
Our middle/ elementary school is in the process of creating the in the library I spoke of. Exciting!!!
The bookstore model is catching on in new libraries. Ditching Dewey the work for some media centers.
Yes, we added a lot of whiteboard/whiteboard like surfaces in the school
there's no wrong way to begin! We'd advocate that learners receive credit for the learning in clubs!
We did too! I am loving our rolling whiteboards and whiteboard tables!
Clubs are often based on passions and interests. When students are interested-deep learning can occur.
Clubs also create relationships, the foundation of teaching and learning.
I think clubs can spark or nurture an idea.
We have a mix of bookstore model and some Dewey sections. Kids much more successful with casual browsing
And aren't those the heart of personalized learning?
is one of many learning management systems that makes personalized learning manageable for the teacher
So true! Learning is social and relationships are the foundation to learning
Ss love them, too! Today I watched 2 groups choose to use whiteboards to work out their questions.
A4 is one of many learning management systems that makes personalized learning manageable for the teacher

A4: I also love research resources like Pebble Go, Ency. Brit., etc. that read non-fiction to kids for research.
A4: I can't pick just one. Epic Books Online and
A4: is an amazing tool to increase student engagement
A4: Lots of great coding tools, such as
A4 Use screencasts to present info rather than lecture to class -allows students to review as needed.
A4: I'm going to second on resources that include readaloud so more learners can benefit.
A4: also has a self-pace feature which has supported PL opportunities in our space
A4: Love using apps like Explain Everything, ShowMe, etc. so kids can explain their thinking and teach others.
is a great tool for self-regulation
A4 Tony Vincent's app "Stick Around"
A4 just explored w/ media specialists today - awesome tool to explore coding at all levels
Observed a student today use storyjumpter to create and publish a story. He loved it!
