A5 This week before conferences and Thanksgiving seems like the PERFECT time to provide space for a letter of reflection about the first nine weeks and also about what we're grateful for. #oredchat
A5: I will continue to invite other teachers, classes, and the admins, to come watch our class talk, discuss, and debate the complex and interesting topics that we read about! #OrEdChat
Very useful in tandem. Some activities don't require a convo, so that's when I use them! It's hard to get through 20 sophomores in one class period. #OrEdChat#MLMagical
Thanks for the great chat @hmarrs24! Local #oredchat folks remember that we're meeting at the Starbucks on the island between Trader Joe's and Natural Grocery on Wednesday at 4:30! Hope to see you there! :-) Enjoy Today!
Thank you all for a fantastic chat tonight! Join #OrEdchat next week to chat about Make Learning Magical Chapter 8 with @KathiSueSummers! Also, start thinking about what book might be next on our list to start in just a few weeks!
A5 We are concluding our #GRA2018 novel & we will be watching a Q&A post from the author of our book as well as doing a review question mini competition with @KortenCrew super fun!! #OrEdChat#MLmagical
Just a quick note on this - I used to do it a lot more especially for checking for understanding but I stopped doing it so much when I read the great and power @Doug_Lemov's blog post on rejecting self reporting. https://t.co/Tia6RTdDYr#oredchat

A2: I'd ask them about the scores they gave the Ss output based on the rubrics and have them further explain to the Ss how they can do it much better . #OrEdChat
a1. #oredchat Students have created user friendly applications for teachers. Both in my CS and IT classes, there was always a hook to a real user (preferably on campus) with whom the student can collaborate. Lot of realistic experience was had wrt time management, requirements.
a3. #oredchat 2 minute walk-stop-reflect exercises have been useful. Kids talk to one another to reflect on that lesson, what worked, what is a challenge. Exit tickets have helped gather improvement/tiered lesson data for next time.
a2. #oredchat Feedback comes in various forms. Verbal, written, even body language can be feedback. Encouraging kids to constantly question their work, critically evaluate its quality, purpose has been productive. IB's assessment criteria helps align this too.
A2: Furthermore, when performances are done...I hand students the results (rating scale) and pose questions like, which criteria you think needs to be focused on why? timely feedback through self-assessment #OrEdChat

Thanks #OrEdChat! As always, it has been a pleasure. I love the challenges that have been included at the end of each chat. It really helps to keep the learning moving forward😊 #OrEdChat#MLmagical Goodnight everyone!
A3: Ss have journal notebooks for writing their reflections, but I have problems with reading all their work. Our class size is 45-50 per class, it seems Ts are finding it hard to squeeze some time for this..... how about in your class?#OrEdChat
