Deb from Indiana, home from tai chi class, eating ice cream....French teacher, high school
A1 An interaction that would actually happen in real life/serves a purpose.
A1 Been wrestling with this one lately. WHY should Ss do this? and WHY should they do it in SPANISH?
A1 Meaningful = RELEVANT to the Student. Purposeful = WORTH IT.
A1: a task that is relevant to Sts, something they can be passionate about
A1: Meaningful = it matters to students. Ss care. Purposeful = Ss can use it outside of class. It helps get what they need/want.
Cecile, TN French Elementary
Hola ! Allison in Iowa. Teacher of grades 7-12 Spanish, currently on maternity leave πΆπ»
Rebecca MS French around Boston. Coming in a lil' late from a parks & rec mtg...
hi Becky from Venezuela, Academic dept.
https://t.co/qVgVAqWYxV
A1 I know it when I see it. LOL. It must have relevance and interest, real utility for students.
Congrats! I remember being off at the beginning of the year w/ my daughter. She will b 3 next week!
A1 relevant to sts, real life communication/ interaction, allows for kid buy in, they can see & feel why it's part of class
A1. Something the kids see as useful in real life?
A1- Something students can relate to/encounter in the "real world"
A1 Communication has to have a goal. Why does student need to know the information the interlocutor is giving him/her?
A1 I think meaningful=usefull to the learner and purposeful=there a reason for it
A1 I think it means useful to the person as a place to start
A1 purposeful = real world transfer. As far as meaningful, that's up to my Ss to decide.
I have been really thinking about this lately! https://t.co/j9YF3n7j7L
A1 Communication has to have a goal. Why does student need to know the information the interlocutor is giving him/her?
A1 Sts can interact w/material at their age/mental level. We engage their nature curiosity/emotions&they teach us about themselves
Hi ! Christa from Denver- high school heritage language teacher!
A1: A conversation sts can envision themselves really having, but also that builds their question creation skills.
A1:Meaningful has emotion attached (u need to get it out) Purposeful you just have to get it out (bc someone else needs to know)!
A1 meaningful : authentic. Purposeful : goal-oriented
YES! https://t.co/p6UFncwzvL
A1: A conversation sts can envision themselves really having, but also that builds their question creation skills.
A1: Seems so many identify meaningful as S-centered and purposeful as authentic. I agree.
A1: Also that helps sts build conversational skills no matter what language. Teens don't really do this well in L1.
A1 Anything that is relatable and used in THEIR lives, not the situations I think they come across.
agreed! Its also hard getting to re-know your Ss.
Chris, Latin 1-4, Erie, PA; I'll be here on & off but good to see other Latin Ts at tonight!
Based on the eye rolling and sighs I got in French 2 today, I would strongly concur, lol.
A1: Teens sometimes don't know how to make people WANT to talk to them. Um.. hello... greet me before you ask me for something.
but what makes it "authentic"? https://t.co/z24NEJ1YpQ
A1: Seems so many identify meaningful as S-centered and purposeful as authentic. I agree.
A1: gives us MORE reason to know what Ss care about
2nd yr Ss are tough at beginning of yr! 1s are so excited, uppers are commited
Oh I so agree....we assume they know how to interact...it has to be 'led/taught'
Yet strangely enough, when we ¨practice¨ extra politeness/customs. they want to try it out on other Ts/sts
(dang it, keep forgetting hastag!) https://t.co/GhhOFRpFlg
A1 Or how about it is meaningful & purposeful for acquiring things beyond language. Like BVP says, a task with a goal, not an activity.
welcome to the fun adventure that is elementary :)
relevant and usable in students' eyes
A1 Meaningful - something that is relevant to a specific lang learning goal. Purposeful - does it matter to Ss?
I understand "authentic" to mean used by real speakers, not contrived
and not limited to teens either. Teaching appropriate/polite convo skills a BIG part of education too.
A1 Meaningful: topic that gets students up in arms, passionate: Rights for all girls to attend school/decent school lunch for USA!
SIDE NOTE: anyone have a doc or something with spanish animal sounds ?
A2 will say asking questions!
A1 Meaningful = students connect to it emotionally or intellectually Purposeful = useful com (not for the sake of "learning")
And respond to what I said rather than just asking another unrelated question.
A2: knowing the function - the why behind the phrase
I don't disagree. Some classrooms are a lot like school and others are a lot like non-school.
A2 Time to THINK and process!
Bonsoir, ! Elementary French teacher and Global Learning Coordinator at independent girls' school in north NJ.
A2: How to recycle memorized questions into new ones, how to ask open ended questions, how to be active listener.
For Latin, the big Q is how can we make an authentic Roman/Medieval/Renaissance text meaningful for Ss? https://t.co/uPsqAXTqCP
but what makes it "authentic"? https://t.co/z24NEJ1YpQ
A1: Seems so many identify meaningful as S-centered and purposeful as authentic. I agree.
A2 Knowing how to indicate when you don't understand/ask for clarification.
A1: Ask yourself, "is this a conversation students would have in English?"
A2 An understanding of what you want to say & how to say it how you want
A2 Asking questions, acknowledging response/rejoinders, asking related questions.
A2 creating a space of comfort and acceptance is huge
A2: I do pre-teach filler words/phrases for my INT sts too
A2 Also seeing it modeled authentically REPEATEDLY
A2: How to reuse statements like, "I think that" as question stems
A2 basics-how to greet someone, manners, knowing it is a TWO sided conversation, listening to another person, paying attention
A2 Icebreakers and safe environment.
A2-We stress "making the question work for you". What can you pull from a question to make a good answer.
A2 How to agree/disagree.
A2 INTERPRETIVE FIRST AND FOREMOST (THEN SPEAKING)
A2 for novice , I teach convos have 3parts: greeting, content, goodbye. Greeting+goodbye=bread. Content=type of sandwich
A2 I'd throw circumlocution skills into that mix too--how do you handle situation when you don't understand what was said?
A2: Circumlocution, for when they don't have the word they need to say what they want
A2 Active listening is so important and it's a difficult skill for our students to acquire
A2 Yes! This is where WAYK signals are really helping my Ss out this year! https://t.co/VQTcsF8kCd
A2 Knowing how to indicate when you don't understand/ask for clarification.
A2: Asking &answering Ques . Ss able to give follow up questions
Or don't know an important word for what you want to say https://t.co/Dj8Z3N3hwR
A2 I'd throw circumlocution skills into that mix too--how do you handle situation when you don't understand what was said?
A2: Prior to IP practice, have question generating activities that will tie in to get them thinking about new opportunities
I have been doing this, this week. With my 2s, it hasn't gone very well. Maybe its me....or maybe its Maybelline?!?
I mean, I could use some leading/teaching...
A2: Teaching rejoinders and reactions so that IP practices sound HUMAN.
A2 I call it "small talk" = natural responses and commentary that comes in our normal interactions
Any tips for teaching? https://t.co/xp68f3soGr
A2 Active listening is so important and it's a difficult skill for our students to acquire
Yes! Trying to have kids have a conversation with people they don't trust around is hard even in English! https://t.co/Dm2B0V7efo
A2 creating a space of comfort and acceptance is huge
A2: need to frontload w/ tons of input - show good models - what do other kids sounds like having a convo
A2: Several of you respected sages teach your Ss to throw interpersonal lifelines. I LOVE this.
A2 active listening skills. How to build on/react to what your partner said and not just waiting for your turn to speak.
A2 for Novice, comprehending the question and showing comprehension. Negotiate meaning
A2 So many great ideas! Sts are sometimes shocked that there is an art & science to having a conversation. Dinner calls. Saturday!
Hola! Shared vocabulary about a topic lots of practice and a teacher who doesn't correct all the time -but listens for the message
A2 for lots of Ss it's important to build up confidence that making mistakes or sounding "weird" is all part of the process
YES! https://t.co/9omDTGP0V3
A2 active listening skills. How to build on/react to what your partner said and not just waiting for your turn to speak.
Put it in the rubric. TALK rubric puts emphasis on listening & responding appropriately.
YES, I second the use of WAYK signals to give "control" to the students 4 demanding a comprehensible class. https://t.co/9nvEhS5uQU
A2 Yes! This is where WAYK signals are really helping my Ss out this year! https://t.co/VQTcsF8kCd
A2 Knowing how to indicate when you don't understand/ask for clarification.
in my elem classes we go over good audience & listening skills every class w a quick chant as a reminder of behaviors
So very true! Do it in many diff. Today was like this. ID new vocab from reading & classify https://t.co/rQuQ8Gr3Bk
A2 I'd throw circumlocution skills into that mix too--how do you handle situation when you don't understand what was said?
what are WAYK signals exactly?
yes! It seems so obvious, yet so easily overlooked. The non verbals and how to react!
A2- Small thing but teaching ss verbal pauses in TL is a confidence builder. Not having to say "um ok so" when a pause is needed
It's hard to teach too! Step 1 is to insist on sitting up straight with open shoulders...listening comes easier
Hey ! Catching up--don't mind the retweets! (Ain't a natural??)
This topic is great for class tomorrow π
also be sure the topic is relevant for students! A2 π
This is something so many of our students struggle with - even in their 1st language! https://t.co/zZvdIS05Qm
A2 I call it "small talk" = natural responses and commentary that comes in our normal interactions
and using 's expression wall. Kids love trying out new rejoinders 2 impress one another - even @ lvl
Ooops, late again to β had be introduced to the board of ed in my new district :)
"Where Are Your Keys" signals. Many are based on ASL and are really effective.
oo, would love to hear more about how you scaffold this!
my students feel like geniuses when they can say "ppuueeesss"
Love it! Could see even doing a version of this with teens. https://t.co/nR5YDQ8N6N
in my elem classes we go over good audience & listening skills every class w a quick chant as a reminder of behaviors
My next project is going to be hashtag rejoinders like "the struggle is real" or "I fee ya" LOL
I'm not sure I do it well! But I use the term "small talk" and encourage it from the beginning. Show your interest
YESSSS, survival strategies for IP activities / assmts SUPER importante!! https://t.co/Jzl3J1ksQt
A2: Several of you respected sages teach your Ss to throw interpersonal lifelines. I LOVE this.
Mine current favs are "la lucha es real" and "Yo no juzgo"
love this! And "pues" is such an easy thing to teach too
I do the same thing-they love it!
require students ask FOLLOW UP Qs and teach those skills. Active listening is interpersonal too!
If you're just joining, we're on Q2. Tonight we're talking strategies for meaningful and purposeful interpersonal communication.
Coming in half way through but glad to be here!
definitely going into IPA prep for next week!
I try to tell the ads "be interesting and be interested"
A3 Definitely knowing HOW to ask a question! & I feel like vocab comes in to play here. Adjectives, opinions, etc.
For using WAYK signs, most important are stop, slowly, again, copy cat, distraction to start with. Ss can signal when lost.
yes!!! "O sea" would be a perfect one to throw in too
A3 Tangible accountability measures, like Ss putting a jewel in basket each time they speak.
I keep waiting for my students to finish questions with... "o que?" Like, Estas loco o que? LOL
A3 Knowing how to ask for help & telling you don't understand
A3 (1/2) question words posted and I ask ss to ensure they have gone through most of/all of them by the end of convo.
A3: always encouraging and modeling follow up reactions and questions. Expand on conversations whenever possible
A3 the teacher being part of the conversation, not just sitting out. Interacting w kiddos, reacting to their comments
A3: I am big fan of taking control of transitions. NOT series of activities, but every step of lesson must build to high point
A3 I like timed speaking- have to fill the time, there is no 'I'm done'
A3: AHHH, here's where the PRE pays off...circumlocution, WAYK (Thank you!)
A3 I use a stopwatch and require convo lasts 3 min. The magic happens in the last minute, after they've run out of prepared ?s.
A3 Ss having some document in front of them to keep things going - list of possible topics, graphic organizer.
A3:practice , practice, then practice
A3 teaching *concrete* examples of follow up questions, fillers, rejoinders, ways to show comprehension (or lack thereof)
A3 2/2 Also part of the intrprsnl com rubric for Int ss "I rely on a variety of strategies to keep the convo going and intrstng"
A3 has blogged about giving points for different types of involvement in convo
Maybe even rephrasing/guiding conversations to keep them from going off track. https://t.co/1MAQ1qNajv
A3 the teacher being part of the conversation, not just sitting out. Interacting w kiddos, reacting to their comments
A3 i think of Interpersonal as any activity where we are interacting on topics of interest, greetings, our news of the day, etc
A3: and as a teacher, float, float, float- ask follow up questions with each group. And remember the almighty clipboard π
A3: word walls/expressions/rejoinders for my students
I like to interact too but when I've watched video of this, I can't believe how MUCH (too much) I talk.
A3 I don't do IPAs at elem :)
Q3 having great success w placemats ( phrase sheets w frequently needed vocab) Ss compete to be first not to rely on. Lots on TES
A3 I've been doing a lot of circling with balls type activities with Latin 1 to keep TL use going. Retold a story like this today!
A3 My 1st PA of lev1 was me w/St, constantly prompting Ss, suggesting possible answers when they seemed lost.
Yes! Modeling is huge plus it lets you talk with them at their level! https://t.co/R1IFYLibk1
A3 the teacher being part of the conversation, not just sitting out. Interacting w kiddos, reacting to their comments
A3: Most important? Choose a topic they WANT to discuss! No one cares about basic introductions and questions after 30 seconds.
A3: we focus on the sustaining - gotta keep it going with questions of interest (IM mostly, some IH)
A3 I think monitoring time is necessary. Kind of force some necessity to communicate w/o too much time to overthink
my kids are loving Β‘Mentira!
A3: when interpersonal is with me, my job is to UNDERSTAND more than to simply assess
I totally agree; I know that's how I was in high school!
A3: echoing this big time; reminders, helps, safety nets, on the walls are a huge aid to lower fear https://t.co/tfbe3r490L
A3: word walls/expressions/rejoinders for my students
Yes! We love "mientes" and "mentiroso"!
A3: teaching how to react create follow up questions even if they are just simple ones
Plus, if taking AP test, kind of prepares them for filling the time.
A3 I agree that having a cheat sheet or topic lifeline they can turn to helps. Some Ss can't keep convo going in L1
perhaps change the style of your interactions - to rephrasing and restating what the Ss had already said.
A3: hold students accountable by reporting back about what they learned: to you, others or in writing.
everyone can benefit from these!
tramposo is a favorite for my Ss after we play our first game
definitely can be difficult to know when to stop talking lol
Yes. This is key, so that there's something to talk about! Why I always liked picture sequences. https://t.co/F3PnpK0rQP
A3 Ss having some document in front of them to keep things going - list of possible topics, graphic organizer.
oh girl. I messed this up for the 1st IPA. Working on more open topics!
I like this. And, I feel like I'm still stealing valuable airtime.
Much like proficiency descriptors: I can ask impromptu questions
A3: sometimes just giving Ss time to chat in the TL w/o expectation that Big Brother is watching (o rlistening!)
Joining mid-way, but hoping to learn. Latin teacher grades 2-8.
A3: teaching how to develop follow up questions and communicative expansion tools is helpful from novice -throughout
Yes! It's an all-purpose technique! https://t.co/E6KhjQt9xB
And I forgot to mention the magic of saying MIRABILE to gloss over sins of L1 or errors!
If you have more than a few tabs open now, you are not alone
there definitely is a delicate balance between providing input & overtaking the conversation
We all do. Goes back to last week.We can be out of touch with what students enjoy no matter how hip we are/try to be
like this! What do lifelines look like?
yes!! Mine love tramposo too. I taught that last year and it took on a life of its own
To me, this is the hardest thing. https://t.co/cG3NDZ936N
A3: teaching how to develop follow up questions and communicative expansion tools is helpful from novice -throughout
I have been using the heck out of graphic organizers for interpretive. Need to consider for interpersonal.
A3: Doing something neat with word walls in AP this year.
react to what they have said, ask a follow up to throw the "ball" back to them
I was too project oriented (imagine that) and trying to make them anticipate instead of just chat!
Someone explain lifelines to me?
So exciting when SS realize they can actually have convo in TL! Love that moment:)
Same! Im not sure what they are
A3: always encourage 'and, why, because, also, but', etc. always encourage expansion and don't constantly correct output
I have a Latin 1 word wall. I'll be interested to see how it helps in acquisition throughout the year. https://t.co/VKnMnPBWwa
A3: Doing something neat with word walls in AP this year.
https://t.co/gre9ld7Jzl
After the 1st 2 days, I already have my Sp. 1s saying to each other, "no inglΓ©s". It is a rewarding feeling to build a TL rich community.
Enters "French Cafe" (MS/HS) - free convo in French for x min on a Friday when I think ss are ready
Want to do an IP response web. Starting categories Yes, No, Maybe, Interesting, Me Too. Sts generate options to replace them.
And we can probably please all of our students some of the time..at least that's a goal I have to connect
We're using OneNote class n'books, so we all contribute to the word wall (thematically organized) new page for each theme 1/2
me too! I sacrificed spontaneity for reduced anxiety. :(
Don't assume anything is too hard- my L1s asked for direct objects today bc convo seemed stilted!
That way the words are S generated and Kept for all!!! on display throught unit, but not lost when we move on. 2/2
Yes! And hearing the convos in the TL in the halls and at recess!
I concur. This allows Ss eyes to wander in the right direction!
https://t.co/HEwBWSFWDM
I have a Latin 1 word wall. I'll be interested to see how it helps in acquisition throughout the year. https://t.co/VKnMnPBWwa
A3: Doing something neat with word walls in AP this year.
A4: One of my big goals is to find an AUDIENCE for my Ss
A4: Or, in the case of interpersonal, someone outside of class for them to connect with
A4 Have Ss teach their parents and siblings what they learned in class this week!
A4: Train them on what the 90% and 10% mean and what they entail. Set personal and class goals. Make them stakeholders in TLT.
for us HS folk, catching the TL Instagram comments ;)
A4: great question! I love Google docs and Google hangout
yup, and I asked my parents at Open House if they had learned anything β some raised their hands :) https://t.co/u4gZF0DC8s
A4 Have Ss teach their parents and siblings what they learned in class this week!
A4 By giving access to (or creating) out of class environments for ss to use
Are y'all putting word walls in TL and English?
A4 This yr: working w ELL classes to be our interview/convo partners in Sp. Also intermed+ Ss doing school tours for new Ss in TL
Q4: this is a tricky one! But sometimes parents of my Ss tell me their kids sing & talk to their dolls in the TL
getting a lot of mileage out of mucho/un poco too
have you tried epals? I'm trying to do that this year
could be as simple as a list of S generated ?s on a topic (food- what kind of food, when do you eat, etc)
Here's Q4 if you missed it. How to promote meaningful/purposeful interpersonal communication BEYOND class https://t.co/mUJDPIE2MM
Maybe that should be their assignment over the weekend, gratias tibi ago, bonum consilium! https://t.co/v5tTua7BI1
A4 Have Ss teach their parents and siblings what they learned in class this week!
A4 I've started having a palabra secreta this year and I've NEVER heard so many convos in the hallway
A4 Definitely an area that I need more help with.....
A4: This is hard; We had the good fortune of a grant to seed a volunteer club
I use TL w/ pictures and icons
A4 epals for MS, assigning skype sessions as only hmk of the week
Oh in that case, Good and Bad have to go on there, too!
A4 Make communication outside of class part of HW choice assignments. Go pursue an opportunity!
A4 This is why I started my chapter: desire 2 find opp to use TL beyond (and distinction of hon soc to hold them to it)
TOO. ADORABLE. https://t.co/wLQvfyAFVT
Q4: this is a tricky one! But sometimes parents of my Ss tell me their kids sing & talk to their dolls in the TL
A4: Use TL in cafeteria, at football games, in hall. Have native TL speakers in contact with our Ss as much/often as possible.
Me too! Very excited b/c I get the Ts as my epals!
Why do you think there are more convos bc of secret pals? Curious.
A4- Intermediate students have had fun tweeting in TL getting responses from their followers in other classes
I plan to put word walls in TL this year
A4: Show the benefits and the ways they can use what little they know. My ss use their intro, etc at restaurants and w me in hall
Mine is just in Latin, but I have words color coded by part of speech (further coded by noun/adj gender) https://t.co/yQlcUT1IXH
Are y'all putting word walls in TL and English?
A4 auth audience: penpals, skype, chat meet-ups, letters...grt motivator!
Wow! And they are able to pull that off with the time difference? Tell me more...
Q4: Model scenarios in the classroom that could possibly be replicated beyond the classroom
A4: Strive to find/promote the COOL factor of being an L2 speaker.
A4: I've invited Ts in building who speak Spanish to class to chat w/Ss. They're amazed that they still speak &look 4them in halls
Create a class # for Ss to tweet in the TL
A4 Constantly review structures learned with Ss. Repetition is key! Greet/speak to Ss in hallway, outside of school even in TL!
sounds awesome, what does palabra secreta look like
I really really want to skype this year! Maybe Canada?
We teach Fr in our hs preschool program - even French 1/wk had these little ones teaching their toys!
Love it!!!! https://t.co/efchkek1zZ
Q4: this is a tricky one! But sometimes parents of my Ss tell me their kids sing & talk to their dolls in the TL
Also and I did group chat using at night, much like a
a4 this is an awesome idea! https://t.co/vfGRdy3ki4
A4: I've invited Ts in building who speak Spanish to class to chat w/Ss. They're amazed that they still speak &look 4them in halls
OMG, how is this not a thing I have ever thought/heard of before!? https://t.co/pehJxNUhIo
Also and I did group chat using at night, much like a
A4: always encourage students to share in class how they have used the TL outside of class- and celebrate and reward them!
Example..Ss take 30 second video of them using the TL outside of class and share video in class
A4: back in the day we used to do online chats with other schools in our county
"palabra secreta" = "password" - some teachers have a secret password for Ss. How can we adapt for Latin? :-)
love , reduces anxiety for ss so I use it as a scaffold with epals before doing skype
Ooooh! I want to know how that works first! GOT to be a way!!!
A4 I talk to my sts in Spanish wherever I see them; hallway, cafe, playground, grocery store, you name it.
Going to explore this! Thanks.
Oooh can you let me know how this works? https://t.co/j66BmsNv1L
A4 I've started having a palabra secreta this year and I've NEVER heard so many convos in the hallway
A4: can work really well!
It has been awhile but I def learned new things about my Ss that way! π
or drive their parents nuts on a long car ride w our songs lol
very easy to use, like a private chatroom if you will. Just need a couple of groundrules. Can send you a quick doc.
so how does this make convos better? Is it the repetition or what?
Oo! I give my kids shots at a HW pass if they do enough Instagram challenges singing our coro of the week!
I suspect its the repetition but also the "fun" factor.
Either TEACH them or speak in Spanish anyway so they won't understand...either way builds language skills! https://t.co/z2fZgHgj4V
A4 Have Ss teach their parents and siblings what they learned in class this week!
A5 Interpersonal can be a great interpretive processing tool. Or warm-up/brainstorm before presentational
okay, I get that comment too ;-) Also have younger siblings who know my songs from older sib teaching
A5 I like to close every presentational project with an interpersonal share, including some info.-gap aspect.
A5 During reading or listening, tell a classmate in L2 "I don't understand" and/or ask for help. Not cheating, negotiating meaning!
A5 or as follow-up to presentational
A5: Interview each other about topic X, record partner responses, write compare / contrast or recommendations after
A5 Interpersonal convo makes ss more comfortable w/ TL so they aren't afraid of branching out
A4 reinforce kiddos using TL outside of class-I hear my sts using Span w each other & swoop in to express how proud I am of them
Love this! Will have to try :) https://t.co/7jDhxIUXd4
A5 During reading or listening, tell a classmate in L2 "I don't understand" and/or ask for help. Not cheating, negotiating meaning!
A5: the expectation to do interpersonal gives real weight to do interpretive listening and reading well
A5: Use IP for Talk 1 of Talk Read Talk Write. Sts chat in TL about familiar or hook topic, then move to interpretive that amps up
A5: students can report back findings at all levels-in writing/orally. Google voice is a great way to solicit formative feedback
A5 Can be a chance to digest several interpretive docs/videos and contrast/compare together.
A5 Use phrases in communicative exercises in stories to see them in a meaningful and engaging context.
Adios --gotta bathe my futbolista
I tell my Ss Interpretive is what you'll use most outside of my class. Everything either builds to or from
Great idea to use it as a warm-up/hook topic! Activate schemata with interpersonal speaking! https://t.co/MMccFZP9WU
A5: Use IP for Talk 1 of Talk Read Talk Write. Sts chat in TL about familiar or hook topic, then move to interpretive that amps up
Partners read 2 differ articles, share, then write on both
A5: I feel that if you can do Interpersonal with a degree of fluidity, the other modes are easier IP = interp and present fused.
That's cool! This yr I plan on making rewards for Ss where they still use the TL like having a cooking show in TL
A5: Interview each other about topic prior to reading , gather & calculate data, sts discuss/report results of polling
You do it i'm sure...Follow Up Q's, interested listening etc
Ok bonne nuit! Falling asleep at my computer...
valete, omnes! Gotta dash but it's been great, as always!!!!
A5: currently using and grps have to do diff intrprtv & pres tsks for points. I manually -points when I hear eng
Interpretive mode is most important to us Latinists too. Ss must become good readers and listeners. https://t.co/gSlhA1q4d1

Yes & even get their info before they read - so the 'pre-read' is based on them!
A5: my Interpersonal tasks involve Ss talking abt something from our Presentational and Interpretive tasks
So I meant interpersonal...
A5: I am working on training my sts to discuss what they have read much like they would in English class.
TA: Glad to have leading us on a Odyssey.
TA Use as formative before Ss face authentic audience.
A5: Have sts listen to recordings, take notes, then question each other to compare results of note taking, then write using info
Merci ! What a wealth of ideas! Thanks for being so welcoming! A la prochaine!
TA: with another class! Audience & authenticity, conversation skills

TA: Glad to have leading us on a Odyssey.
TA1: Tweetdeck! TA2: impossible to grade sentences while lurking but easier to grade single words w/key!
Takeaway: begin to use interpersonal communication as a warmup before jumping into something more complicated!
Takeaway: interpersonal communication is my top priority- I need to be sure to implement the opportunity daily
And before you go, don't forget to follow the people in your convo's tonight... and order your SWAG! https://t.co/Sb6r9hA6e6
Sorry for disappearing . Toddler fell out of bed π¬ &needed help falling back asleep. TA: lots of great ideas I have to catch up on!
My Takeaways: KEEP PUSHING ON, my professional learning goal this year = MORE TL USE by me and THEM. Requires intentionality!
A5 interview a partner on preferences, graph it, then share with class (or in small groups)-Interpersonal+Writing+Presentational
