A1: Visual narratives can help students tell there stories across content areas. This year I've worked with teachers who are designing ways to have students share reading experiences and personal narratives through storytelling. #CreateEdu
A1: We use visual narratives now with our students to help tell original stories. Some of these narratives come through in the form of video or graphics. #CreateEdu
Hey All! I teach high school English & have recently stepped into an ITRT position in our school community. I’m interested in learning more about visual narratives, especially since multi-model literacy is a shifting focus for our state standards. @AdobeEDU@ISTE#CreateEDU
A1: Creating visuals within digital lesson design in hyperdocs during instruction. Students create with Adobe Spark, Google Drawings, Canva, Sketchnotes. 👩🏻💻❤️ #CreateEdu

.@drhawk10 thanks for joining us. Visual Narratives can be used in a variety of settings. It's all about conveying a story using visual media (pictures, drawings, graphics and audio) #createedu
Q2 from @manuelherrera33: Walk us through the design process you follow to help students visualize their stories before publishing them. #CreateEdu@AdobeEdu
A1: As a former Teacher Librarian, I used to love exploring wordless picture books with my students to share the power of images & have them do some creating too! #CreateEdu
A2: You can use graphic organizers to help students storyboard or brainstorm ideas. Here's a post on helping students brainstorm keywords when searching for images #CreateEduhttps://t.co/iM0NqEf7HQ

A2: Start by identifying their audience and purpose, then planning in whatever way works for them - diagram, timeline, outlining.
Design truly is a process, not a product. #CreateEdu
A2: We used a variety of story board graphic organizers both print & digital . . . Open pages for those who needed the freedom for their thinking. Never had to be something formal; just wanted them to think about where they were going! #CreateEdu
A2: We also discuss our audience. Who will be seeing this visual? What do I know about that audience? Which type of media would work best? Should it published? Mailed? Posted? This should drive what students create and which tools they use. #createedu
A1: More reactive than creative- I was recently introduced to the depth of resources avail from the Library of Congress & am working to curate different visual media to introduce Ss to time periods/events, to let them form their own impressions before approaching text. #CreateEDU
A2: Students are often quick to immediately open a digital tool & start creating when given an assignment or task. Giving them a process slows them down and makes them think critically about what they are creating.
Have to know the “why” before you know the “What.”

Q3: As students begin to build their own digital identities, how are you helping them to find inspiration in others' work and curate digital media while respecting intellectual property? #CreateEdu

A3: I try to pull in examples from designers & artists that inspire me & inspire Ss. We talk about the work & what they like. We then sketch out ideas to begin visualizing a design. Then we lean on tools that can help convert sketches to ORIGINAL digital art. #createedu
A2: We also discuss our audience. Who will be seeing this visual? What do I know about that audience? Which type of media would work best? Should it published? Mailed? Posted? This should drive what students create and which tools they use. #createedu
A3: I love the citation options in @AdobeSpark which can "spark" conversations around giving credit with younger students, and are totally customizable for older students who want to modify to a certain format (like MLA or APA) #CreateEdu
A2: As a student in an interactive media design program, we brainstorm ideas and create storyboard based on this ideas, which will finally be implemented using a suitable visual narrative. #CreateEDU

A3: I find that by researching and creating simple drawings to plan out designs, students are more likely to create original visuals using tools like illustrator or PS to include in their work. Rather than finding outside media. #createedu
A3: The tenets of plagiarism have been well instilled in HS Ss. We need to shift a focus to applying the same rules to intellectual property & being a responsible digital citizen... Beyond that though, we need to strongly promote creation over recycling digital media. #CreateEDU
A3: When I teach lessons on things like layout and color, I reference magazine covers. Kids may not read magazines, but they are great to use for inspiration and remix the design ideas.
Also pull examples from #posterdesign on Instagram.

A3: We often discuss the use of rhetoric in commercials, and let the kids explore the ones that work the best before creating their own (complete with green screen). In creating their final product, we ensure that rights are respected by using https://t.co/dSYRGFcjlP. #CreateEdu
Q4: Once students have planned out their narratives, how do you help them select the appropriate platform or tool for sharing their message? #CreateEdu

A3: We are fighting the tide of “Work smarter, not harder” when there is such an abundance of digital resources available. I think we need to instill in our Ss the benefits (and pride, worth) of being trailblazers & unique voices. #CreateEDU
I agree. We have all the tools & methods to help support original creation yet we seem to steer kids in the direction of Googling images to include in their narratives. I show them examples as inspiration. Not to use. @austinkleon book #steallikeanartist is great! #CreateEdu

A4: Authentic audiences come in all shapes and sizes! If you're looking for a social media-friendly partner, I love how active the National Parks are on their respective social media accounts. #CreateEdu
A4: Depending on the Art direction we select the most appropriate tool for sharing the message. Most-times we make use of more than one tool. #CreateEDU
Inspiration or moodboards are excellent ways for students to capture inspiration and being to build their own aesthetic. Take a palette from here, an line from there, a idea from this. We need more intention behind the work. Not just dropdowns. #CreateEdu
