A1: First, rest. Then reading something that challenges my beliefs/teaching, not just makes me feel good about myself.
Am presenting ELA Institutes this summer & learning from literacy experts at in Boston. Learning is stimulating! A1
A1: to write content for professional learning, build PMI tools for PBL, write a collaborative team plan, align strategies, curate
A1: Grow my PLN, improve my makerspace/design challenges, practice new apps & tech tools, read lots of YA bks 2 refer to Ss
A1: catch up on the reading list, participate in summer PD, explore MOOCs, help develop road map for strategic plan
Grades 9-12 are too. Focused my answer on my teaching role. It's exciting & a little challenging, too!
Good evening, . Still here at work after a great day of being with students. Enjoy the conversation!
I like it. Challenge your beliefs.

A1: Finish a class end of June, in July, and books, Twitter, and maybe Pinterest the rest of the time.
A1: summer reading list, go to and continue growing as a coach through attending and analyzing softball games on TV
Sweet! Can't wait to meet you in person!
it would be a lot harder to fit all my idea into 140 characters!
If we aren't doing that, how can we grow? .. Even if your beliefs don't change.
A1: I started researching topics for bullying and suicide prevention in schools.
that's an excellent point I suppose
Hi Craig. Come by next Monday. will be our guest moderator.
I found some templates for road maps today that are really pretty! I will share!
I love to to learn and collaborate with the best in the summer!
interesting topic. Especially considering the stats in terms of how much is observed vs that which is not
Hello there! Today was our last day! A1: looking forward to facilitating PDs, catching up on some books, and growing my PLN!
I am not the teacher I was 15 or even 10 years ago. All about growth & learning.
A1: Goals for summer PD: Dig deeper into topics including coding, Google's map tools, etc. Read (listen) to some EdTech books
Q2: What type of learning do you prefer for the Summer? Conferences, reading, virtual? Why?
This is where reflection comes in. Reflect on why you do it and the challenge will help you grow.
definitely interested! It always helps with the vision!
A1P2: also keep up with Twitter chats and
A2: I like reading and EdCamps. I plan on having an optional book study with colleagues!
If I could go back to that 1st year and tell myself a few things. Oh my.
Hey friends, you're all cheering on the while chatting about education, right?
I'd say a combo of virtual, reading, and f2f. Acquire the knowledge & be able to process/integrate as I make sense of it
Exactly. I volunteer for and this is one of the topics we cover.
A1.1: looking forward to and as well
A2: Toying with the idea of getting some edleaders together in the morning for coffee and talking every so often!
A2: All of the above: conferences for face-to-face, reading for my own pace & depth, virtual for collaboration.
A2: Reading books, articles because it's more flexible. Not stuck to a certain time and day.
very good. The stats are so mind numbing sometimes
A2: Discussions and reading, I'm excited to attend my first edcamp!
. Book study sounds good. Do you plan on discussing virtually, f2f or when summer is over?
A2: conferences. Hands ⬇️! So many opportunities to grow & connect.
That's right - also trying to see if my son will be caught on TV while at the game!
A2: Summer is my time to explore, research, collect then I love to adapt & share my findings to my peers & teachers at Conferences
A little of each. I love networking, but also love quiet reflection and flex of virtual and reading. https://t.co/vh4EzkVkXh
Q2: What type of learning do you prefer for the Summer? Conferences, reading, virtual? Why?
We're diving into in a five-meeting study.
It'll be weekly with a component if some people can't be there.
A2: Summer is my most busy time of year to give PD, so I use it to learn from the participants
A2: Conference format is great, but the virtual has grown on me. Thanks to 👍
A2: Everyone better be adding to their summer PD list!
I am in my focused research zone as you saw me studying today so if you need a resource I'm your gal!
Book are portable. Can take them anywhere I go.
That's awesome! See you there, Ryan!
A2: Conferences and reading, excited for EdCampLeader in July!
Always make sure I put at least a couple of Boot Camp webinars on my summer PD list; always ahead of curve in topics
Is there a hockey game on tonight? NBA hoops ranks right up there in excitement as the 7th round of the NFL draft
that's a greasy idea! Like a network of leaders!
A2 confession. I've never edcamped. 🙈 I want to though! Timing is never good. 😞
A2: definitely virtual and reading. Want to make sure I get to see my children grow up. Learning will take place during bed time
I'm excited! I'm in the process of recruiting some more people!
The connection and networking is the best part of conferences.
If only it was being held out west . . .
I envision it being laid back and free flowing - just a chance to catch up and share.
I'm hoping to shed some light and provide tools and resources for Ss to look for warning signs
I prefer talking to practitioners. They are on the front lines of innovation and summer is the only time they are free to talk.
Thanks, Monica! Can't wait for this epic meet up!
Especially since my Kindle can carry thousands!!! All I need is a place to charge up once a day :) https://t.co/ecoayHp2Zo
Book are portable. Can take them anywhere I go.
You will love it! I plan to attend more.

Now keep in mind, this would be laid back with coffee - no fitness involved!
I didn't love the What? era for Stone Cold.
Well said. 👏 https://t.co/BGKHYBf8cj
I prefer talking to practitioners. They are on the front lines of innovation and summer is the only time they are free to talk.
The more brains, the better!

I am dying to try a MOOC but haven't found the right one yet.
A4: we had a science fair not long ago where teachers came together to swap curriculum and content ideas.
I was wondering--I get too nervous watching them so typically check scores from time to time.

A5 a big part of this summer learning will be 2 weeks of PLTW training...then going through it again to review & plan
I believe a microcredentialing system would be great for PD if their was a central crediting system for carryover
I'm not sure. I need to check with my retired friends who keep much more current on "grownup" reading.
central system in the state or district??
he posted a spreadsheet idea that I love to create a a very manageable group of students for RTI
I believe a state system or even a national system so that the credentials are applicable in multiple systems
Yes! I saw that! Love it!
There are places working on this right now... ITSCO is doing some work.
A5 Twitter chats, podcasts, and books. I love audiobooks while I am doing yard work.
on one hand yes, on the other hand i dont want the State involved in more, messing enough up already
Great chat tonight. A light and relaxing discussion to lead us into our summer break. Enjoy and learn.
I know some companies like Pearson are doing it too.
Can't stay up too late just yet, last day with kids tomorrow! Good night all - thanks for the learning!
Thanks for moderating ! Go Cavs!
I understand that sentiment but I think it is worth looking into for providing compact, focused PD
