Q1: List everything you can put a finger on (ex. Hair, eyebrow, white) Why is this 1st step important to what is causing the mood or what could cause the mood? All students engage the image? #K12ArtChat#Tlap

Frustration and anger could both work based on the evidence. At this point we don't know what is causing the mood. without a cause it's hard to distinguish the exact mood. But we do know it's negative based on the evidence. Color, face, body, silence, alone... #K12ArtChat
A2a: I see colors and plants of Spring in and through the window but the room is dark and she sits alone. She appears to me to be thinking. #K12ArtChat
A3: I believe the mood is caused by the time (generally dismissal time), the blank page (assignment?) and an empty room (the only one left) #K12ArtChat
This is a good chance to bring background knowledge and experience to an artwork. This helps start to make artwork personal to the individual viewer. #K12ArtChat
A3 for some reason she is inside instead of outside in the sun enjoying herself. Is she dressed for a funeral? Her lower half is faced toward the window but her arms pull aaway from the window. #K12ArtChat

AQa: My background of living in the very green PNW makes the green in the picture remind of me being calm and just sitting and looking out the window #K12ArtChat
A4 Somber. She is missing out on something as your eye is drawn outside by her gaze, the color, sunlight and hints of red flowers in the plant. #k12artchat
Remember, this visual can help you and your students explore artworks (even abstract images) Can download for free from https://t.co/Gaxcm0nRs3#K12ArtChat
#k12artchat Glad to be here. I’m a curriculum director for PK-12. This is my daughter’s piece of art. She only had art in elementary; her two art teachers inspired such a love in her that she continues to practice at 22. #arteducatorsrock
Her body language & expression, plus the beautiful weather outside..shows she’s lost in thought bc she’s not fully engaged in any one thing, its almost contradictory #k12ArtChat
I think the the mood in this image is lonely frustrated as he is alone in the classroom. Probably had no friends. The clock says 3pm. Probably dismissal time. his desk does not seem to have more than one chair while other desks have few #K12ArtChat
When we discuss this question with young children, we can help them to think more abstractly about artworks/books. What represents frustration in their own lives? easy way to help them think about artwork symbolically. #K12ArtChat
One of my first graders agreed. After I asked why the blank paper could symbolize her mood, he said that the paper is empty just like her. I share that tidbit in my book #K12ArtChat
A5 between the clock and the empty page, the day is done and nothing to show for it. No Mark has been made....as if she doesn't even matter or exist. #k12artchat
A5 the blank page says a lot, also the clock@lets us know it’s late I t he day... others have moved on.... maybe... that’s very lonely ALSO the symbolism of color used! #K12ArtChat
Faces are usually an easy way to access moods. Then it's easy to have students look through the other lenses to find more textual evidence to support their thinking #K12ArtChat
Opposite moods can highlight just how terrible her mood is. Just like jumping into a cold pool after being in a hot tub, the opposite temperature makes it feel colder. #k12artchat
How you turn away from stress but turn to art and use that stress to conduct a masterpiece. To me that blank piece of paper is exciting; so full of possibilities #k12artchat
A6 I defiantly empathize with the implied feeling of overwhelming/frustration feeling... want to tell her when you feel this way “rest, don’t quit!” #K12ArtChat
Yes. She doesn't see the possibility or can't see any hope in it. Just like the woman by the window. So much possibility if they can just turn and look. #k12artchat
