I've got an iMac hooked up to a second monitor or my macbook pro hooked up to a second monitor. Sitting at a desk is more productive for than working in my lap. #DevDiscuss

My work machine is a Lenovo laptop with 20 GB ram, core i7, and SSD storage. I like that it’s nice and portable at 14”. But my home server comes with my #3DPrinter 😀 #DevDiscuss
At home: a MacBook Pro and a portable desktop monitor so that I can work anywhere! I just got this to work over the weekend. Now, I am in no rush to buy a new MBP. #devdiscuss
I use my 15-inch MBP both at home and for work. I prefer to have my external monitor positioned above my laptop, as opposed to side-by-side. I also like to ensure I have a big scratch pad to jot down notes on my desk — something about handwriting is freeing. #devdiscuss
(75%) Desktop: Custom tower with 2x 27" screens, DasKeyboard MX Brown
(25%) Laptop: Asus Zenbook3
Both running Antergos (Arch Linux)
Desk is next to the window, for the scenery.
#DevDiscuss
I'm ISO an affordable monitor/docking situation for home. Need to be able to dock mac or pc laptop. Need a wide screen or dual screen monitors. Recommendations? #DevDiscuss
I work on a Windows at work because I haven’t quite figured out how to get a Linux box working.
Before anyone says anything about the Linux box, I have made the Windows machine work for me. Not my favorite, but it will do. #DevDiscuss
Still getting moved into a new place but this is mine, hoping to buy a stand for the MBP at some point, and missing my Magic Trackpad. I like a flat simple desk. #DevDiscuss
Give me vertical monitors or give me death!
But seriously, nothing makes me happier coding (or backlog grooming) on my vertical monitor at home. #DevDiscuss

I use two 24" at work docked with my laptop for a total of 3 screens. I WFH twice a week so my gaming rig with 3 monitors doubles as my home office on those days. Oddly enough, the consistency of 3 screens has been nice between two locations. #DevDiscuss
#DevDiscuss talking about home servers, on the right there is a storage server (9TB) and on the right an I7 2600 running proxmox with 4 Debian VMs rocking all my infra.
13” MacBook Pro, two 27” external monitor above, vertical mouse, motorized raisable desk. The small size laptop makes it super portable, and the big screens in my office give me a nice home for the rare cases I sit at my desk #DevDiscuss
I'm taking a page from Jane Austen by setting up my workstation in the dining room. It lets me get a good view of the road so I can see anybody that might come to the house. #devdiscuss
Work: Dell Precision 5520, huge upgrade from my old machine. Docked w/ 3 monitors.
Home: Arch Linux on an XPS 15 9550 sitting on one of my monitor arms, the other has a 27" 1440p monitor. WASD Code w/ brown switches, mx570 trackball, and a red scarlet 2i2 for audio. #DevDiscuss

Mine was ~$186 (since gone down in price) and it comes with a storage pouch which doubles as a stand. I quite like it as I don’t have a desk setup at home.
Here is the one I have https://t.co/dcEzXgMUBQ#DevDiscuss
My full creative and development workspace is an ASUS ROG laptop. It's sturdy and awesome for gaming, too-- got me through all 4 years of university. Next machine (soon) will probably be an MSI. #devdiscuss
I also have it setup using the monitor as a KVM so all I have to do is plug in one cord to my MBP and it switches all my peripherals to use on the MBP. #devdiscuss
This is my pre-upgrade setup. #Surface Pro 4 16GB with 3 1920x1080 monitors. I’ve since upgraded to a Surface Book. Have loved both machines! #DevDiscuss
@ThePracticalDev I'm kinda old school and I've never been able to work with multiple monitors! Am I the only dinosaur who still prefers virtual desktops? #DevDiscuss
Standing desk at work with a monitor (elevated by a MySQL book to the right height) alongside my laptop. I have a tall chair to use when I need to rest my feet. The Magic Mouse is horrible but I can't help it. It's critical.

My home setup. Lenovo x1 carbon, generic Korean 27" ips monitor, 70is% kb with cherry blues, ikea desk. Work is also an x1c, nicer monitor(same specs tho), and full size cherry browns. #devdiscuss
#DevDiscuss re: Mechanical keyboards. I don't get it. Is the clicky clacky just that satisfying? Or is there something else that makes them so popular?
MacBook Pro, one display. I used 2-4 displays for years and eventually came to one and find myself less distracted.
Mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX blues when I’m at a desk. #DevDiscuss
My daily-driver: a mundane Lenovo laptop (2GHz CPU, 10GB of RAM, 500GB drive) running Debian Linux. Nearby are a smattering of lesser laptops (incl. one 17yr old) running a mix of FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and Ubuntu/Raspbian.
#DevDiscuss
I've got a dual-monitor setup that I use maybe 50% of the time. I try to stay fluid and not get too anchored to my setup, because sometimes a quick change of scene will provide the boost I need to figure out a hard issue.

Love this! Most of what I do works fine in a terminal like this, short of browsing the full web (though one can browse a subset with lynx), watching videos, and playing some games. A little tmux, mutt, etc…
#DevDiscuss
I feel embarrassed that it took so long to hook up my mac to another monitor. Setup wouldn't be complete without my Sennheisers, love those headphones. #DevDiscuss
I requisitioned a 40in 4K tv and brought in my own Microsoft keyboard because my large frame makes those tiny Mac keyboard a pain in the wrist #DevDiscuss
It's interesting, because I would have thought that MBP/Surface/etc. style keyboards would have been more comfortable long term. Shows what I know :D #DevDiscuss
I find my standing desk to be the most inviting for other devs to come ask questions and discuss designs. It boosts not only my productivity but others as well. #DevDiscuss

#DevDiscuss My at-home setup: one 27", two 23.6", iPad pro and Blue Yeti. Not pictured: Ergohuman chair, mechanical keyboard and green screen behind me, and a Dell laptop for working on the go.
One day I'll get a standing desk. One day...
Hey if it works for you, it works for you. I switched to an ergo about a year ago, not because I had issues but because I didn't want them. Now long coding sessions on a laptop start making my hands hurt. #WhatHaveIDone#DevDiscuss
Office setup: Standing desk with 15" MacBook Pro and dual 27" monitors. IDE in the center, terminal on top left, Slack on lower left, browser/Zeplin/email/calendar full screen on the right. #DevDiscuss
General thought on the topic -
People who proselytize endlessly about the value of standing desks should try to remember that not everyone is able to stand.
#DevDiscuss
Hadn't considered that perspective. I tend to think of devices as being somewhat ephemeral, and being able to set new ones up on the fly as an asset. #DevDiscuss Not that cheap = better etc., but just that I can't afford real pricey stuff :P
#DevDiscuss My work provides 2x 40” 4K displays. I personally find them to be overkill - I probably only use about half of the overall available space.
If you’re thinking of a similar setup, try it first, don’t assume it will be great.
I’ve seen a lot of those vertical laptop stands tonight but never before. Are they used as an extra monitor or do you type on it while it’s standing up like that? #DevDiscuss
I've got a lot of co-workers with them, too. Never understood the "I need headphones ugh" thing until I realized I already had good headphones that I used all the time :P #DevDiscuss
I need at least two—I have my terminal, code editor, and several browsers going at one time. Never had more than three, and I feel that is adequate. #DevDiscuss

This is the old work set up: Dual 27" iMacs. You can actually tether two iMacs (specs dependent), and use one as a 2nd monitor (Target Display Mode - on boot up). The beauty here was that one was Retina™. Nearly 8000px across. #DevDiscuss
1. Multiple monitors > Single Monitor. I guess with the right shortcuts or sufficient screen size, you could do fine with one monitor. More than one monitor makes me feel like a 1337 hacker, though.
#DevDiscuss
Just a 15.6 inch laptop with burned screen and a small notebook to take notes🙂
My specs:-
21.5 inch LG monitor
Dual core processor
Nvidia Geforce 840M
8GB of ram
#DevDiscuss
Interesting, I've got a lot of replies about less fatigue, feels better. I would have thought that more travel would have been the cause of MORE fatigue. #DevDiscuss
I use my 13-inch Macbook Pro with a 27-inch external monitor only when I'm home. I still prefer to use one screen most of the time. I don't get to focus on more than one per time anyway. #DevDiscuss
I love my mechanical keyboard. I have DAS keyboard for Mac. It seems like with prolonged typing sessions I feel less fatigue with my mechanical. #DevDiscuss
I have an extra monitor, keyboard, mouse...but I find myself rarely using them. I’m so mobile around the office that carrying them with me is a pain and I end up just using my laptop as is! #DevDiscuss
